Personally I think parasite tokens should remain untouched. They're so much a part of the theme of the crew, and it makes sense that once you're infected you're stuck.

And honestly while the experience seems NPE, I think that it is just some of the specific synergies/builds that are overpowered, so I don't think an entire rework of the mechanics is warranted (although if that was on the table I'd say We Are Legion would be the thing to rework).

I agree with the sentiment that it's moreso the specific lists and such that are a problem moreso than the mechanics them self. The only thing with we are legion that I feel needs to happen is a clarification that you can't have multiple models pass off to one model in an activation. Sure I feel it reads pretty clearly that's not the intent but a clarification for everyone in a faq would be nice. I think the emmisarrys aura needs to be once per activation or even be changed to shielded instead of a heal. I also feel bumping the archivists cost up to 10 is a better solution than say nerfing him. He's a common ook pick so that helps make him less of a "duh"  choice. That also makes it so Mr N can't obey him for free suit wise.

  2. Would the heal on the emmisarrys aura being made once per activation be enough to help this? Or even making it only work for opposed duels? Generally speaking the big guy sits way to close to the "too good not to bring" level for my tastes and I can't help but feel he's the biggest issue present for making cadmus seem so good here.

this isnt the first time people have said something like this. seems like you are forgetting one of the core concepts to Mlaifaux is that you declare Faction and THEN Master, AT THE SAME TIME. what the 2 authors are saying is that it is a horrible matchup of Nephilim into Cadmus. You dont get to know they are playing Cadmus until you have already declared your faction, and then reveal masters at the same time.

I'm not forgetting anything, we even noted that this games master choices were made with the understanding that it was to test cadmus specifically and mentioned what you just said a few posts later.

Well, it is tricky since you declare crews simultaneously. Should you just never declare Nekima into ES? That said, there's always a bit of an issue of bad matchups, so it does come up.

In this case I believe it was all chosen with the information made available before hand? If that's so then it feels to me like an extreme example of the situation put in cadmus' favor from the beginning. I'm not saying cadmus doesn't potentially have some over tuned things, but I feel this particular match up dident apply pressure on cadmus where they are weakest to see if they buckle or not. As for whether or not you chose nekima into explorers or not really depends. There's other horrible match ups that exist out there that I'd call just as bad or worse than nekima into cadmus. Doing your best to try to avoid them I feel is just another aspect of the game.

  5. I can't help but feel like nephilim was a poor choice going into cadmus. I understand it's a crew the player knows well, but my understanding of cadmus has always told me to avoid melee centric crews when going into them. Mentioned above was pandora and I honestly think she could do well here. Sure she can't copy "hard hitting" attacks but I do feel her crew is great at hitting cadmus where they are weakest, namely wp and taking their triggers away with mass stunned. Aversions can help deflect the typical cadmus dive models and her access to terrifying adds more hand pressure. The totem turns off the husks ruthless making them really struggle if they get in. Candy may be one of the few models I'd feel halfway comfortable putting near cadmus. Not to mention cadmus handing out pass tokens can set up mood swings which I feel could potentially mess with them hard because I think activation order matters to them. I only have three games piloting cadmus personally but blasts, Shockwaves, and general ranged attacks are what Id really not want to see coming in on me.

Ah, I think you're right. I took Gretchen's "you know what to do" like a directive to go retrieve the artifact himself, but the whole scene does read more sensibly as talking to her right-hand man.

On another topic, what's listbuilding looking like in your theoryfaux? Of if anybody, like playtesters, have some real game experience to share. Like Kevinsmith01 was saying above, WP6 is just rare enough that I'd worry about betting on being able to summon Brocken Spectres in any given match. But then Ivan's summoning is just limited enough that I wonder if the "take an elite crew, summon to make up the difference" concept will work for DUA/Umbra?

Generally speaking I feel the daeva are arguably a better summon than the brocken anyway.  From my experience with the crew the daeva are obviously more likely to be an option and frankly provide alot of efficiency for the crew. You could easily drop a Shockwave next to a target you want to attack to give it concealment, summon a daeva(free attack from daeva), then smack em for a min 3 and give them staggard. The daeva just existing is a threat to the model its engaging, and generally makes it easier to take down for your other models as well.

I think you would need a pretty silly rules interpretation (with littleditect support from the rules) to allow the model to jump without concealing terrain in the destination. So still needs the terrain IMO.

That's what makes the most sense, but I figured it came down to when it checks for the terrain. Which as I read it was before the jump. Was just making sure my understanding was correct.

As far as I can find, the book uses the full name "Exploration Vessel Superior" once (annoyingly enough, two pages after the first instance of "EVS" in the story).

"EV Superior" seems to only be in the bio for one character, it might be forgivable on the grounds of needing to fit that text in one column.

Yeah it's from the masters bio. I have yet to read the story involving them so I missed that. Looks like I was on the right track with my speculation however. Also gatta say, cooper's story is metal as hell with just enough tally ho poshness to really make me like the character and his cast moreso than I had previously.

So, Korrok, since you have a physical copy of the book. Could you be persuaded to answer two small questions that I think we'd love to know.

    1. What does EVS stand for?

    2. What's the deal with the SEEKER master? She was my primary during the playtest and I'd love to figure out how close my head cannon is to what she's about.

    1. All I've seen is that it's the EV Superior. The name of the ship. I haven't read the whole book yet however so maybe the EV is explained elswhere. "Explorers Vessel?" perhaps.

    2. To not spoil too much and keep it short she seems to be a person who was cursed with immortality who wanders the world in search of something? The dead seem to rise wherever she walks and she seems to be hunted, or was hunted, by something that she witnessed in her youth. She's been around for a long time. Seems the society brought her some peace of mind and now she travels with more of a purpose.

If there's a way to add spoiler tags to this I'm not sure how. If an admin feels the need to covers these, by all means.

I was thinking wastrel was the model not the keyword. Old thinking.

If you have bought the book and have your copy then you can talk about them as far as I can see. If you have access to them because you did play testing then you are under a NDA and until they are public you should be quiet on them ( not least because they sometimes change from the last play testing documents).

I play safe and don't talk about things under nda until I know its public. In the worst case it just means a few days extra wait until people get to read my words ( some people may think that's a best case😉)

I have a physical book from my local store and a digital copy. I was meaning the final release not the play test stuff.  I am still under nda for the test stuff, so was not meaning that.

A conditional min 3 with move 4 (and "Leap" bonus action) is not as strong as combat masters, so I'd say that in a vacuum it feels pretty okay spot for a primary summoner.

His front of the card seems a lot scarier, like Penumbral converter.

Doesn't need to be as strong as a combat master (damage wise) Generally speaking I'm not worried about the balance of his card. Or his keyword for that matter.

I assume he is primarily a summoner. He hasn't got much else going for his AP beyond summoning, so he'd feel super weak without summoning I think.

He can generate his own shadows with his Shockwave, which in turn can set up his other attacks crow to make him min 3 at 10 in away. So he's plenty capable of damage as well. And that's assuming he needs to set himself up in that fashion.
