  1. Levi had a niche, which was "defensive tech doesn't work against me", but then they gave amalgam the best the minions, and the best flanker model, and one of the best guns in the game, and the total package was just way too good. Now, I'm not sure what Levi 1 is supposed to do. Freikorps seems better in almost any situation you'd bring Amalgam into.

Oh well, at least we have rider Levi now

  2. HH changes the math on some models. Bishop can carry 2 bombs who can drop, walk, drop and can get another 5" of movement besides. With only 4 models, he can't really be swarmed so the fragility is not as bad of a flaw. Also my list adds up to exactly 27 stones, so going with a cheaper model would be leaving value on the table as our upgrades aren't really worth it.

  3. After a couple erratas and a big expansion, we have a lot of new options.

One I just tried and worked amazingly was: Taelor, Bishop, Big Jake, Student of Conflict. Taelor and Bishop provide a huge fear factor, as long as they're able to back each other up, you have a 9-10" circle of the board your opponent has to be real careful about entering. Student is feeding fast to Taelor and then can score late if needed (I think people overlook that 6" move, she's scooting across the board when she wants to). Finally the MVP of the show is Big Jake. Outside your opponent teching against him (bringing anti-bury or demise), he's basically a guaranteed 2 strategy points and can easily help with assassinate or vendetta and is extremely difficulty to score vendetta off of. You can just run in and drop a bomb, let your opponent kill him and then unbury him at any point to drop a 2nd. In this game, he only ended up dropping 1 but that's because I made him a super decoy/bait and he was able to 1 activation murder my opponent's leader (I had the RJ in hand and flipped a 13 rams on another attack, so I'm not sure this should be expected, but with flurry and critical strike, there's always a chance). My opponent was running Tri-Chi lead by Popcorn, and while we both decided Popcorn kind of sucks, I think it still shows Jake is awesome.

The above list worked so well it might just stay as my Mercenary HH list but I also want to try Kenshiro. Not sure how to complete the list though, replace Bishop and then the Student with a Ronin? Put SoDP on Taelor?

It wasn't a problem this match, but there's no healing and no condition removal in the list which could be a problem

Some other lists I want to try:
    Starter Box
    Hannah, Metallurgist, 2x Engineer
I think there's got to be a good Barbaros list but I haven't figured it out yet

To clarify, the things that I think are probably overtuned (but have only played one game)

    • The TNs are just so darn efficient (especially when you account for Beebe picking up two extra cards that are high enough to meet those TNs).
      • I think Beebe is probably a near auto-take in the pools you want this Nexus.
    • The huge amount of AP just means you're able to find a way to do what you want to do.
      • Especially since the models can obey each other.
    • The huge amount of AP puts out quite a bit of activation pressure.
      • When you throw in Archivist, the crew feels quite oppressive.

So overall, I think if we see nerfs to the ES super-friends, maybe this crew will feel a bit more reasonable (although still wildly powerful).

With no real experience, every time I read about Nexus being OP it seems like the Archivist is the piece that moves it from really powerful to virtually unbeatable. I wouldn't mind if the next errata just nerfed it and lets see how it shakes out after that (especially given how much ook play the Archivist also sees)

"in concealment" is probably a typo of "in concealing terrain" or "has concealment". I would lean towards using "has concealment", it makes more sense to goof up "has" -> "in" than "concealing terrain" -> "concealment". Jin would lose some synergy with both keywords if Skulker was only concealing terrain as well.

In concealing terrain is way way way more powerful than has concealment. Standing on a shadow marker is in concealing terrain, but if it's has concealment for an ability, you will only have that from a few specific abilities and actions. I think sputtering exhaust would be the only source that works for a start phase ability.

You don't have concealment while in concealing terrain unless something is drawing sight lines

  6. hanging out buried generating a pass token and forcing some discards and until you want to pop out and teleport an enemy minion to it's deployment zone sounds generically good unless your opponent has any bury tech (so probably not usable against outcasts or guild since they'll be expecting bury tricks from misaki anyway, a little easy to play in es).

However, what exactly does "in concealment" mean? I thought models had concealment, or were in concealing terrain.

It's a good tech pick vs blast & pulse crews like Wizz-Bang and Nephilim.

Although less good if Wong is doing irreducible damage.

I think the ability to get equipment without von schill is at a minimum interesting. You can have landmines out for Parker 2 to slide around.

She can leap every other turn.

Or just take a focused rocket launcher attack every turn.

I think there's a lot of play there.
