  1. I was surprised by that too, but I think it depends on painting processes for people and what models they have available. For me, I actually had to jump my planned painting order by A LOT to get to a model that qualified as a 'creature'. For some, they may not have had a 'creature' lying around to paint, or simply weren't inspired to paint that particular model at the time. Saying all this, I will submit my creature in lieu of Vintage Sonnia this month. She had to get put off so I could paint my beastie. Now I just have to finish up those stitched...
  2. (Jumps up and down) Hey! What about me teacher! I did my homework, too! 👨‍🎨
  3. @Burnin' Coal man, those shaman are really beautiful. It's sad in a way that I'm working my way though my Neverborn stuff and seem to have things on the docket just after you... it sets the bar stupid high! The wings, of course, are amazing. I love the brown of his robe though too, and that bright green is really nice. Well done, man.
  4. @Purple Mist very nice work. Those bases are amazing! Very nice touch and overall feel to the set.
  5. @Boomstick - Aqua-Marcus looks great so far! I love wonder Amina too, very creative idea with that. @H4ml3t - Your Optimus / Lazarus is awesome! I may have to counter that with a Shockwave version when I paint mine!
  6. @Viruk both models are beautiful, as always, but the yellow you get with Lazarus (and I think you may done a similar color on Hannah?) is amazing. I really admire your work.
  7. I'm looking to get Dr. Grimwell, Nurse Heartsbane, and the Orderlies.
  8. @Chou Thanks man! I put a lot of time into her.
  9. 2nd model done this month, Vintage Misaki for 15SS (bringing the total for the month to 23SS). I am really s**t at taking good, clear photos... so I may try and reshoot this later. First, all credit to Mako for the inspiration on color and style. I don't know if that person is still around, but I used his examples to paint my original Misaki and she's one of my favorite models... so I decided to use the pattern again. (https://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/Painting+Misaki+by+Mako) This time, however, I did attempt the freehand cherry blossoms. They came out better than I thought the would. Overall, I love and hate this model. She had way too much exposed skin... and I HATE flesh. I am terrible at it. I also hate her gaping mouth. Ugh. I'm happy with the dress, the blade, and the freehand. I've a long way to go before I can hang with all of the wizards in this thread though... just gotta keep painting! I am really stoked to have the inspiration from all of you. This has been a tremendous resource of ideas! I'm starting in on my Stitched next and I will be using ideas from @Burnin' Coal for the body bits and @Joachim for the glowing eyes. Hopefully I won't let ya'll down **PICS AFTER THIS ARE POST EDIT**
  10. @Monkeyfist The skin looks really good. I concur, it's beautifully grotesque! @Boomstick I'm a huge DC fan, so I love the paint scheme. What other DC themed models do you have? The bases and painting on the SS miners is really nice. I like the foliage.
  11. It's ironic, but a lot of people like my messed up Nothing Beast. I've grown to love him too. Not sure which model you are referring to in the NB as "Herald". Bad Juju is one of my pride and joy models. The mold line does irritate me though. That is one of my great weaknesses as a modeler right now, figuring out how to spot mold lines and fill gaps. I've only been at this for about a year, so my aim this year is to get better at gap filling and mold line removal. Thanks for the feedback!
  12. I love the blues and how smooth all those models are! The whole Raspy set looks really nice. I agree with the Toshiro comment. It struck me before I even read the comment.... I though, "why is his flesh totally rotted, but his intestines still look fresh?" However, I don't agree with the clash of the green/yellow. I think it works in it's own way. I like it, I guess is what I'm getting at.
  13. I managed to knock out my first model of the month. I am actually really pleased with how this model came out. He will definitely be replacing his predecessor as the model I use most (meaning the original Frank I got in the Latigo Posse box). Here is Alternate Francisco for 8SS so far.
  14. I know this was quite a while ago, but could you tell me how you made that green slime looking effect on the base? I really want to try that. Thank you!
  15. Often in a model's action there will be a built in suit - for example, on the brass arachnid there is a tome build in (thus is says Ca4 ) That means there is already ONE tome in the final total using that tome, so you need to either flip or play the other tome in order to successfully get the cast off. Most people would say you need to have a 10+ of in your hand to make that action go off. (If you play a 10 of with the built in you now have 14) Many models don't have their suits build in, but it's hard to give you an example from Ramos box... because most of his models have at least one suit built into all their stuff. Howard Langston is another model that has this issue. He has the crow built into his attack, and you'll need to play a ram in order to get the 'decapitate' trigger to go off. Look at all the model cards you have and check their attack or cast stats. Some will have a suit along with the Ca, Ml, or Sh stat, but some will not. Some Masters and Henchmen won't have any of the suits built in to a certain trigger (like Misaki) and will need two of a suit to cast something. This (usually) requires that you burn a soulstone to add one of the suit into the total, then flip or play the second. However, this is more rare.
  16. This month will be master heavy. I'm going with: Vintage Misaki - 15SS Vintage Sonnia - 15SS Alternate Francisco - 8SS 3x Stitched Together - 18SS For a grand total of 56SS (which... I'm feeling more and more I might have been too conservative with my original pledge level I'll post pictures of Frank a bit later.
  17. I have a list I’ve run recently that you have all the pieces for. Lady J *ashwood coffin *last stand *swordfighter Scales 2x DM Recruiters *2x lead lined coat (or debt, depending) The Lone Marshal *debt or plant evidence 2x Death Marshals Brutal Effigy Basically I was trying to work the ‘box’ mechanic. I had LJ box up the big threats and the DM recruiters beat on it. Then I used the scales to get some of the cards back. It isn’t ‘optimal’ per se, but I definitely caught the other player off guard. The DMRs can also keep LJ, the Lone Marshal, or even the regular DMs alive for one more punch, which is something else a lot of people forget. You just have to make a buddy system with them. I bunched LJ, the effigy, one DMR, and a DM on one side, and the Lone Marshal, a DMR, and the other DM on the other with the scales floating about to hide mostly. Again, not really optimal in all cases, but I managed to 10 point that game
  18. @Purple Mist I totally understand that. I've been told that I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to organization though, and as soon as I got my first minis (which, Malifaux is the only mini game I will ever play... again because I'm also an obsessive collector) I saw that each faction had its own color and every model came with a base.... thus my weird tick kicked in and I had to paint each base according to the faction that model belonged to. Funny story, I was gifted the red translucent bases for my Rollins (Nightmare McCabe) crew and it drives me crazy. In my mind I feel like he belongs on Ten Thunder bases, but I can't be a bad gift receiver! Sorry, this was a long rant to say, I totally understand your feeling! I just can't leave them black.....
