The small details on the umbrella is breathtaking, hats off to that! The paintjob is smooth, nice and contrasted both on the model and between the model and the base. Did you freehand the flowers or used a stencil?ย
Yes, it is freehand, but drawing inspiration from actual kimonos and japanese umbrellas. I'm not really very good at freehand, so I tend to avoid it, but I just had to on this one. Turned out better than expected but not as good as I want it to be๐
Thank you all for the kind words!

Fantastic paint job!ย Wonderful attention to detail.ย I can't tell what the bloody pineapple slices on the base are supposed to be, though.
Guess I can answer this now ๐
The things on the ground are supposed to be eyes (and a couple of mouths not visible in the photo).
I didn't have much time to take photos, so they got a little out of focus (only have my mobile), but thank you all for nice words and constructive criticism.
I'll be back for the next competition.

I love the lighting ๐
Thank you. Think I caught the hue from the fire to come off as quite natural without "cheating" with coloured lamps and actual lighting. Didn't quite make the cut for silver og gold tier, but I'm happy with my own work regardless.

Did you actually set fire to your entry? ๐คจ

The lighting effect is good. I am a bit curious if the transition through green is intentional or if it's just because the colours are mixing with the blue ambient light. This makes the whole composition seem a bit surreal and works against the whole impression. My advice would be to break the falloff towards a dark red or pure black before mixing in with the blue ambient light to avoid the green all together.
