I am not really surprised by Levi. I was also thinking to a dual activation of Viktorias.

For Seamus, that's a little strange. He ignores HtW, but you can still stone on damage and to give :-flipto damage. How did he kill her without a lucky red joker ?

With proper set up Seamus can do two focused shots for 2 ap and three melee slaps (one from his Ability, the other two for his regular actions) in one activation. Even if LJ stones for negative, Seamus can still flip two moderates (that's not so uncommon) or even two severes from his deck. Once I was able to kill Lucius and Dashel in one game and it costed me only 5 shots from Seamus (no jokers involved). I'm not saying that situations like that occur to me commonly (actually it was my most glorious moment with Seamus), but that's something that at some point can happen to anyone.

OTOH the change to replace has made (...) Hamlin really, really good.

I think the change hurts him more than benefits. It means that if you don't want to loose the whole Ratking activation you cannot reform rats via unclean influences, which means that you give your opponent more time to react and kill at least one of them.

Can Reva use Channeled Flame defensively? So can she only use it when she takes an action, or any duel?

I think any duel, but want to make sure I'm not misreading.

it says "duel", so yes, any duel. simple duel, opposed duel, both as attacker and as defender.

He and his whole crew. The Redchapel keyword has so many pushes & lures. The Belles, Doxies, Madame Sybelle, and Seamus at least all of ways of moving the opponent out of base contact with the marker. They should be pretty strong in this strategy. The Belles and even Sybelle may actually see some use!.

Seamus kills unactivated model and then you outactivate them and lure away from the marker.

I was also thinking of running some kind of lurebot in Molly, as she can also easily outactivate her opponent. As a bonus, Scarlet Temptations combo well with all Wp based attacks Molly (and Nanny) has. Actually, I was meditating on hiring a Scarlet Temptations model to Molly's crew for a long time already, but hadn't an opportunity yet.

Yeah... that's true.  So unless it's an enemy model without a:ToS-Melee:attack, it's still friendly fire.

    Not really useful.

I missed that. Now Benny seems much less appealing to me. I have a feeling that they have overlooked it as well and the gun action should say "ignore malifaux rats for friendly fire purposes" or something similar.

ah thanx, the info is helpfull enough. I already opened the jobsite but thruthfully i kinda like my current job 🙂 I know my question was a bit open but until now i am doubting between guild lady justice, neverborn pandora or the dreamer or wong from the bayou until i open the book again, then options arise... 🙂

:P ok, before you open the book again: Lady Justice is a melee-master with combat oriented crew. Neither glass canons nor tanks, they're perfect for people who enjoy straightforward brawl. Pandora... I haven't played against her yet, so I don't want to say something inaccurate; her playstyle is certainly unique, she bring some debuffs, control and ping damage. Dreamer is a summoner with melee-oriented crew of, mostly, scary glass-canons; his models have an ability to remove bad cards from your deck permanently, which leads to a snowball effect. As a small boy accompanied by huge monsters he is definitely a  strong contender in the coolest master category. Wong - another one I haven't played against, but probably another brutal crew with Master excelling in AoE damage.

  7. And seriously: you haven't said much about your preferences, so it's hard to give you any specific advice. The differences between factions are mainly (albeit not exclusively) aesthetical, so if you prefer certain playstyle it is likely you will find it in every faction. The initial choice usually depends entirely on the rule of cool.

  8. @Kyle the typo in Public Enemies I have pointed out yesterday is still in the document. I have also a question related to the Corrupted Ley Lines. It seems that the Interact that lets the model move o Loadstone token from one model to another does not involve targeting either of the models, and as such cannot be prevented by the Hostile Work Enviroment Ability. Is that intentional?

  9. 27 minutes ago, Paddywhack said:

Well sure, but the same could be said for most schemes - your opponent is going to try and stop you :)

The difference is that in case of most other marker-based schemes your opponent can prevent you from scoring the first point mainly reactively. In case of that one he knows very well where the marker needs to placed and will preemptively place his own. Which means that with that scheme in the pool both players will most likely try to prevent the opponent from scoring it even if none of them knows wheter opponent picked it or not. overall, I think it's not as simple as it seems to score the first point and the mere fact that the scheme is in the pool may impact the game in interesting way.

Am I the only one that thinks the first point of Leave Your Mark appears to be a very easy? Most Schemes seem to involve multiple AP (normally) to achieve them. LYM can literally be 1AP and your done. That second point it pretty hard though, being so close together, unless you have ways to drop schemes other than Interact.

it's super easy if your opponent doesn't have his own marker 1" from the centerpoint as well. and I assure you that he will try to do so! ;)

What's her role in the crew?

Being good at being good, Revenants can't do that :D

First of all, she draws you cards, which you need if you play Reva (now less than before, fortunately). Second, she can reposition candles and explode them. Third, she's very tanky and becomes even more tanky due to the healing Reva brings. Third, she hits like a truck and heals in the process. Fourth, she has two situationaly strong auras. Her main weakness is that she's slow, but Shieldbearer can speed her up. Overall, I didn't realize how good she is (still haven't played von Schtook I am so hyped about...) until I fielded her for the first time. Nay, at the latest tournament I played Kirai vs Mei and decided to include Anna in my list - she singlehandadly shut down his entire crew's movement tricks on turn one, tanked a lot of damage (GST) and took down Steam Arachnid Swarm which tried to Vendetta her, thus significantly contributing to a whooping 8-1 or 8-2 victory.

  12. I've started playing her two weeks ago so I am really excited to see those changes. They are all in a right direction. With double healing from Reva my dear Anna Lovelace (MVP of any Reva list I've made so far) is going to be unkillable under right cirucumstances.

I currently run Misaki as my 10T master but would like to at least have one more to chose from in 10T.  BUT I don't want to have to buy a ton of new models.  Currently I have all of the Last Blossom models as well as most of the versatile 10T.  Also a Mr. Graves.

Thoughts on how to have a second 10T master on the cheap?

Definitely Shenlong. He does better with strongest versatiles than with his monks. the only monk to consider on a budget is Low River Monk - maybe you can buy a single model from someone.

Alright so I have a game tonight and I'm playing against one of the strongest players in my meta. I've declared Yan Lo and he's declared Shen Long

    Deployment: Wedge

    Strat: Reckoning

Schemes: Harness the Ley Line, Assassinate, Take Prisoner, Claim Jump, Vendetta

So this looks like a knock down, drag out fight. Harness might cause the crews to spread a little but I have a feeling its just gonna be a big brawl in the middle or hes going to try and keep his distance. My opponent is known for running 2 or even 3 samurai usually with Trained Ninja on 2 of them. What would be your crew going into this? And what would you pick for schemes? For the sake of argument, assume that I have every model available.

Ouch, that's going to be brutal.

You might not be able to kill all samurai, so Taking one as a prisoner may not be the worst idea. Claim Jump on Izamu is a no-go against so many armor-ignoring models, otherwise would be great. Vendetta depends entirely on his crew, but it's synergistic with the Strategy. It's very likely that he will choose Vendetta on one of his Samurai and your Izamu.

In terms of crew composition: Yan Lo w/GST, Soul Porter, Izamu, Carrion Emissary, Manos, Chiaki w/The Whisper, Komainu is one possibility. Carrion, apart of summoning zombies, can block LoS of his shooters, although not to himself nor to Izamu. Komainu is here to protect you from shooting (they don't ignore armor on their guns) on first two turns. You can also swap Komainu for Yin, which can help you with Take Prisoner, if survives long enough. Another consideration is - as crazy as it sounds - giving up on Manos. He has the best reliquary, but it's value diminishes if they can ignore Demises, his scheming potential may have no impact in this game (although mobility is always valuable), and he will give 3 Recko points. On the other hand, he is mobile, makes them Staggered (no pushes from students!) and Adversary, and has potentially three attacks. So I would most likely still use him, see if he made a difference and draw conclusions for the next game.

Potential first turn play: probably you can figure out early on turn one whether slingshoting Izamu at Samurai (or other thread) is an option. If it is so and if it means you will overextend Izamu, Split his soul, attach reliquary to Yan Lo and summon zombie in a safe place. After Izamu dies on turn one or two, Yan Lo Instills Youth to the zombie, telling him that it is dangerous to go alone and replaces it with Izamu. Sure, you can always summon Zombie closer to Izamu, but then your risk it being killed before Izamu and outside either Recover Lost Souls aura. Sorry if I am saying something obvious to you, but I don't know how many Yan games you already have under your belt.

[edit: just realized it's Wedge deployment. this should be illegal! :P consider deploying deeper than usual, or you may lost Yan Lo before he turns into a god.]

Note of course that you really need 3+ pieces of blocking terrain on the centreline/opponent's table half to be able to make full use of him IMO. So there's probably some boards where he wouldn't work.

Carrion Emissary creates terrain wherever [edit: kinda] you need it. Too many blocking terrain pieces aren't welcome as well because of cover which is worse than concealment for Seamus.

Uh wow never heard that, since there is not much recent discussion on Seamus I am aware of, can you expand a little on considering him teh strongest?

Are you kidding? :D The reason why we don't discuss Seamus is probably because his position as a strong master is undisputable and there's not much more to say on that. Check out these two threads on Seamus:

I haven't played Yan Lo, but Gokudo do seem absolutely key to his playstyle.

Not really. If you are looking only for a recyclable model to replace it with an Ancestor, than MZ is as good (if not better) as Gokudo. Gokudo is great for some schemes and strategies due to the way he is resummoned, but that's not something I would call "absolute key to Yan's playstyle". I have played both with and without Gokudos (more often without them, actually) so I can assure you that the MZ route works.
