  1. Thanks Ress is More, I'll pick some up once I've secured some storage. Apart from Johan who should be turning up tomorrow the crews are built. I just need to get round to gap filling and fine sanding them. Turns out that I'm not the most dexterous of sorts, and coupled with the fact that I haven't worked with plastic in a long time and these are hardly the most forgiving of models meant I went a little mad whilst making these. Hopefully I haven't messed them up too badly! Once I've tidied them up they'll get pinned to their corks ready for painting; looks like I'm going to have to use 0.5mm brass rod as my usual 0.8mm is too big for some of their feet...
  2. This is where my naivety scuppers me! Thanks again for the help with this. So if I narrow it down to Johan or the Hodgepodge Effigy what would people vote for? I'm at the mercy of your wisdom! Sue and Hans don't seem different enough from what I already have to warrant their purchase. Big Jake looks to be too far off unfortunately. Anna is on the wrong size base.
  3. Sorry I've been a tit! I meant 30mm bases; I have 1x 25mm insert left as Adran said! OP has been corrected. Interesting advice so far! If Anna is going to be 40mm then I can have her too as I was have three spare 40mm inserts. I've heard talk of the Hodgepodge Emissary (old man on a donkey with unlimited shirts...) coming too so might look at them with a later release date. I'm kinda attracted to the Effigy. It's something a bit different than the norm. In contrast Sue/Hans a bit similar to what I've already got which is why I'm not as excited by them. The availability of Big Jake is a bummer but he seems very useful and I could easily do a small batch painting session with him and the above mentioned... @ Adran - I'd forgotten about Johan. Wouldn't I be able to use Taelor in a similar role though? That was my initial plan to meet my construct smashing needs....
  4. Afternoon all, I'm working my way through a collection of Malifaux miniatures I received for Christmas, which include a number of resin bases. I've got exactly the number I need for my existing collection, plus one spare 25mm 30mm. Now I'm not really wanting to have to purchase any more of these bases (they come in packs of ten) but I'd like to use up all the ones I've got. However due to the sheer variety of 25mm 30mm based miniatures available I feel a little spoilt for choice! As such I was wondering if you good folks on the Wyrd forum could help me decide? Malifaux is definitely a game I want to play, rather than just collect, so I'd like a model that will work well tactically with my existing collection. I've read a lot of the tacticas and threads, but due to the sheer variety of schemes and strategies, not to mention Masters, I'm finding it difficult to settle on whom to pick. Currently my collection stands at: Masters Von Schill Viktoria of Ashes Henchmen Hannah Taelor Viktoria of Blood Totems Malifaux Child Student of Conflict Steam Trunk Enforcers Bishop Convict Gunslingers x2 Friekorps Specialist Freikorps Librarian Killjoy Lazarus Strongarm Suit Vanessa Minions Freikorpsman x2 Freikorps Trapper Ronin x3 The options I'm interested are: Sue - Heavy hitting support but costly. Hodgepodge Effigy - Apparently works well with VS Anna Lovelace - More Freikorps goodness. I don't know much else about her. Big Jake - I like the idea of him, plus we share the same name. Do I really need more melee though? Hans - Ranged support, especially for some sniper shenanigans with the Trapper. Could help with the Viks weakness, but then again so do the Gunslingers So can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance for any replies, I appreciate it.
  5. Absolutely stunning work mate. I love the bases, especially Monty's!
  6. Oh happy days. I couldn't see anything when I got round to reading 'Crossroads' but figured I'd missed something. Although that now means I'm having to decide between even more potential candidates... Anyway, update time: Thanks to the awful weather we've been having here there hasn't been much call to be out and about. I managed to buckle down yesterday and power through the bases around plumbing and grocery shopping. Turns out they're a right pain to photograph but I've done my best. They're a little darker in person. I really should invest in a light-box... The whole lot: A selection of the 30mm ones. I'm not decided on who is going where yet, but am thinking that anyone kneeling/crouching (Bishop, Freikorps Tracker, Vikitoria, etc.) will likely be placed upon a curb so that they sit nearer normal standing height: The two 40mm ones. Near is for the Strongarm, far for Lazarus. I haven't varnished these in the photo but the puddles will get a light gloss to give them a bit of sheen. There's three spare should anything else big and Outcast-y come out. Finally the two 50mm ones; I'm not 100% settled on who's going where but I'm thinking Hannah will be on the near and Killjoy on the rear. I messed up the tram line base by going to heavy on the initial drybrush but think I've managed to save it. Can anyone recommend what size magnets to get that will fit on the underside? As always open to C&C!
  7. I've only just got 'Crossroads' but was going off of these threads: http://themostexcellentandawesomeforumever-wyrd.com/topic/76359-vikkiesvon-schill-list-help/ https://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/Sue Unless these are now out of date?
  8. With us all starting a new orbit of the sun and seeing in my second year back in the wonderful world of wargaming I thought it about time I start my first ever project log. I'm yet to actually play Malifaux but I'm told there's a pretty healthy community around my way, regardless the miniatures a lovely and look to present a rather nice challenge. I'm hoping that this will help keep me motivated and get these guys done over the coming months. I'm not the worlds greatest painter but I aspire to create some attractive and atmospheric table-top quality miniatures. If anyone's interested in what else I've painted (and the standard to expect...) here's a link to my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_blackjack13/ With a love of militaria and mercenaries there was really only one faction for me; that of The Outcasts. Despite seemingly not being a popular Master I had to pick up Von Schill and his Freikorps, then for some variety and Taelor I ended up with Viktoria's Hired Swords. So here's what I've got to be working through: Humble beginnings and not very exciting, but I've decided to first start with the bases. I wanted these uniform across the force so figured it easier to get them all done at once. The idea is for them to represent the Quarantine Zone of the city. That, and base toppers make my life a lot easier! I'm aiming to have them look similar to the tiles used on the LotR Elf. There's not a lot to go on so far, but I'm open to comments and critique. One thing I would really appreciate some help on: - I've got 1x spare 25mm base topper. I feel this needs to be filled with someone, but I can't decide on whom. Currently I'm considering holding out for Anna Lovelace, although Big Jake and Hans are also rather tempting. I like the idea of Sue but not being able to run him with the Freikorps is a bit of a deal breaker. What would you guys suggest? Thanks for looking. Fingers crossed I'll be able to keep this going and keep you guys interested!
  9. Evening folks and a happy New Year! I've been into wargaming since I was eight but dropped out of the hobby for nigh on five years. I returned around the middle of 2014 but didn't really start painting until the turn of the year. My friend persuaded me to start Malifaux last year, but with him losing interest before even buying a crew my interest in this wyrd (see what I did there?) and wonderful game waned in favour of other more pressing projects. With a change in circumstance I began to look at it again seeing as I already had a crew and rulebook sat around. I've been lurking away on the forums for a while and became amore'd with not only the miniatures and the setting but also the positivity of the community. I managed to persuade my girlfriend to pick up some of the additional miniatures I needed to run a pair of crews this Christmas so am now set to get start actually playing the game. Hopefully I should get everything painted over the coming months (I'm unemployed at the moment, so at least I have time on my side!) and start flipping cards. I suppose that's about it! I look forward to hopefully being a somewhat active member on here and meeting some of you in person at some UK tournaments!
