  1. From the album: Kirby's Crew

Back shot of my first painted Malifaux miniature! I am fairly certain I will be getting premade resin bases for this crew, so this creepy thing will not have any basing for a little bit. When I showed the finished mini to my wife she said it was repulsive, disgusting, and would probably give her nightmares. I guess I did a pretty good job? Photo taken with Nikon D7000 and 105mm AI-S Micro-NIKKOR lens.

  3. Thank you all for the responses! I totally did not make either the Lazarus or the Ashes & Dust card generation connection without penalty connection. That's one heck of a way to keep an activation and card advantage in the early turns! Thanks for the strategy tips as well. I can definitely see Desolate Soul being more of a Levy thing than Rusty Alyce's. Her gun is nice but doesn't bypass damage reduction like he does.
  4. Hey gang! I'm very new to the game and just recently picked up Leveticus's Salvage and Logistics box. I decided on Leveticus because of how awesome the Abominations looked and his overall necrosurgeon, alchemist, abomination vibe. I play Cryx in Warmachine and can only wish they had as much necropunk, ressurection stuff as he does. For a frame of reference, I've played one 30ss game as Gremlins with neither side using Schemes as a learner, and I'm one full turn into a slow-play 50ss game. Anyhow, I've read over the main post of the Leveticus Tactica and the 50ss crew I fielded was as follows: Leveticus :: From Ash :: To the Earth Return Rusty Alyce :: From the Aether :: Desolate Soul Ashes & Dust Lazarus :: Oath Keeper Abomination This left me with 7 soulstones to work with. I am wondering if having such expensive models (Alyce, A&D, Laz) is a good thing. They seem survivable enough, particularly Lazarus and A&D, but concentrated effort can remove them from the board without too much fuss it seems and then I'm out of anchors. Lazarus is also a point of question for me. He's expensive and, while survivable, I don't think I know how best to use him and his Assimilate ability in particular. The only constructs I have are Abominations and A&D, neither of which really have abilities it seems like he'd want to use. Are there other constructs that are more viable for this? On that note, someone mentioned the Hodgepodge Effigy and having Laz copy the Soft Cover ability. That definitely seems like a solid choice and can be directly swapped for the Abomination in the crew. Still uncertain about potentially better applications of it, though.
  5. Well that answers that. It is bothersome when game systems alter key wording without actually altering the key wording, but I suppose posting an FAQ that's supposed to be all-encompassing and treated as errata is easier than going through the cards to find situations where "damage suffered" triggers should be treated as "damage flipped" triggers. Thank you for the fast response!
  6. Hello! My friend and I recently started playing Malifaux and I have been using Gremlins. My opponent was playing Ressers and had an Incorporeal model. During the course of the game I shot the Incorporeal thing with one of my Gremlins and triggered Dumb Luck with severe damage of 8. The Incorporeal model took 4 damage because it suffers half the damage that is dealt to it. From there, Dumb Luck states that the Gremlin takes half the damage that the target model suffers. The Incorporeal model suffered 4 damage, so the Gremlin took 2 damage. Afterwards I discovered the rules FAQ and saw the one added on 11/1/14 that states that the Gremlin takes half of the total damage flipped, so my Gremlin should have taken 4 damage instead of 2. This appears contrary to the Rules as Written since Dumb Luck states to use damage suffered as opposed to damage flipped as seen in the FAQ. We (friend and I) are new to this game, but have played several others. In some game systems, an official FAQ is essentially the in-house suggested method of play whereas in other systems the FAQ is treated the same as an errata - official, final statement in situations where wording is unclear. The term suffer comes up very often and is frequently written as the final total number of damage taken after modification, leading us to read it as a key term with a defined and consistent meaning. Is it not a key term, or maybe we have the wrong definition? The wording for Dumb Luck is not unclear and the FAQ changes the wording entirely. Should the FAQ be considered a suggested method of play, or should this be treated like an errata? Thanks!
