  1. I scratched it before I painted it because creating a random looking but appropriately spaced set of scratches into plasticard is tough (I had to scrap the first one I made) and I didn't want to risk screwing up such a time consuming piece. Also, the plasticard is bright white and I didn't want it popping out too much.

Great entry, very creative! beautiful painting on the figures. Perhaps the bottom of the flames could have been a bit brighter for an even more striking effect, but that's being a bit nitpicky :)

Thanks! I completely agree that the base of the flames could be brighter--I didn't notice that until I was lighting it for photography and by that point it was too late to change.

Fantastic. Where are these  models  from?

The smaller critter is a Beastman Great Bray-Shaman from GW. The big critter is the Incarnate Elemental of Beasts from Forge World; sadly it appears to no longer be available from Forge World. I've had it sitting unbuilt in my hobby closet for a couple of years because it was such a cool model that I didn't want to mess it up with a bad paint job.

  4. Now your posts make much more sense! The strings seem sorta heavy for the piece, maybe thread or fishing line would work better?  Otherwise, love this interpretation of the theme!

I actually used thread for the strings. I contemplated using fishing line, but decided against it as I wanted the strings to be visible against the background.
