  1. I see what you are saying, but I cant bring myself to sacrifice a 4ss minion for ammo, stuffed piggies half the price, and has blast. I agree Pigapult is a specific build, but it is gold dust for many scheme/strat combos, so would always include in a 100SS pool. Its also pretty flexible being useable for aggression as well as gremlin launching for schemes, so its not a one trick pony.
  2. If your serious about Somer, then i would suggest the pigapult is essential. Its your hardest hitter, with Stuffed Piglet ammo, and also your best scheme claiming via launched gremlins. I would also say Francois (henchman) is essential as a decent tank / damage dealer and healer (with Quality Mash Liquor) , with companion and reckless, his utility is unmatched and he is always useful. For marker heavy schemes and strats id say Somer, Skeeter, Slop Hauler, Pigapult ,Stuffed Pig (or 2), 3+ Bayou Grems and Francois (with Quality Mash Liquor) is a solid summoning list. For reckoning, turf war, assassinate, vendetta, make them suffer etc, you need to mix in Kin. To be competitive you need Rafael, Rami, Lenny, in your pool to beef up the survivability and damage dealing. If your playing fixed faction rather than fixed master, then you should swap out Somer for Orphelia for these schemes/strats as well, but somer can still do it (just not as well). So in summary, you need somer box, orphelia (kin) box, pigapult and some stuffed pigs, and you will have a 100SS pool, capable of being customised to make a competitive 50SS crews for any strat / scheme combo. I would avoid investing in pigs unless you take Ulix, War Pigs, Old Major, Penelope, Gracie etc, and likewise, Brewmaster, shinobis, Whiskey golem etc. If you want Somer, then the above is fine. Good luck!
  3. I generally run 50 SS Somer in two broad builds, bayou spam and more multi purpose. In both cases I only normally take 1 Skeeter, just as interference. in scheme marker heavy schemes/strategies, another one would stop me taking another Bayou who can flip claim markers, drop schemes and count for reconnoitre etc. In more aggressive games, the skeeter is taking a stuffed piglet slot, and those three exploding pigs via pigapult are better than a 2nd skeeter. I don't find Can 0 Beans necessary either, the Skeeters job ( in my crew) is to fly next to a critical enemy minion at a critical point once in the game and waste an activation or 2 as they try to swat it. This normally prevents them flipping a marker or making that extra shot at a bayou and can earn vital late game VP.
  4. Great event, just as good as Isle of faux, good venue, good food, good ale, good opponents. We'll run by the TOs. Loved it. cheers all
  5. great ill take one! I can't see the payment details in the thread but I've PMed and emailed JonDoe297 R
  6. Very late in the day, but any tickets left? R
  7. Som'er Teeth Jones... my zoraida practice match convinced me to stick with what you know... i.e. little green b**tards. All paid now too. Looking forward to it.
  8. I would like to play also. I can pay on tuesday at the club as I plan on coming down for a warm up. Already got permission from wife (bloodstone) for tourny and tuesday, so omens are good. Will be my first tourney with non gremlins so nice to change it up. R
  9. Hi all, I played in the Isle of Faux tournament in Kent, UK this month and saw Arcanists and Neverborn players using mercenaries such as Convict Gunslinger. Do any gremlin players take mercenaries? And in what lists? I have been looking at a list with Hans and Rami for double sniper action, and also with Francois, Orphelia and a Convict Gunslinger for some serious damage output. Gremlins Crew - 50 - Scrap Ophelia LaCroix -- 7 Pool +Dirty Cheater [1] Young LaCroix [2] Convict Gunslinger [8] Francois LaCroix [7] +Quality Mash Liquor [2] Hans [9] Lenny [9] Rami LaCroix [7] +Dirty Cheater [1]

  11. Sorry yes your right its a minus flip to the attack flip, but doesn't help if she uses the spell that makes you Wp test against 14 as this spell has no attack flip to modify.... So at Wp 6 if you flip a 7 or lower then you take the damage, and if your in range of the sorrows etc then this increases etc. Much worse for poor Lenny who at Wp 1 needs a 13 or Red J. Likewise Young LaCroix on Wp 3 are also toast. I didn't help that I had pulled Black Joker, 1 ,2, 3, 4, 5, for my hand. Excellent for poker, lousy for Malifaux. I made several mistakes in the game but specifically these four were critical to my centre collapsing: - I thought they would all get +2Wp from LB. They don't as they weren't Minions. - I thought they would get damage reduction from Lenny, but they didn't because it was multiple sources. - I thought stubborn would protect Ophelia, its didn't from the main spell he was using as there was no attack flip. - Finally, most importantly, I didn't know that the sorrows would give damage when Pandora damaged my guys. Any way the first three lessons are worth knowing for all future fights, the fourth lesson is specific to Pandora and her Sorrows. Ill be better next time.'praemonitus, praemunitus' as they say!
  12. Cheers Fetid Yes if i did it again I would take Rami (maybe with student of conflict for fast) then try and focus sniper the sorrows.
  13. Hi all I got face-rolled by Pandora yesterday (Pandora (+totem), Doppelgänger Candy, 3 x Sorrows, Silurid). My Orphelia crew just didn't seem to be able to deal with the Wp attacks and the harmless and terror Wp duels. Key lessons for me were: - The Liquid Bravery (+2 Wp) only works on minions (so was useless for Kin, Lenny and the Young Bayou ( I didn't realise this at the time). Stubborn was also useless as most of the attacks had set damage, so the - on the damage flip was not usable. Did I miss anything with this? - Lennys protective bubble which reduces damage by 1 is not very useful when the damage is from multiple sources, as if they are all 1 then (i.e. multiple Sorrows and Pandora), there is no reduction. Is this correct? Is the damage reduction per source or the total damage? - Lennys Wp 1 means he is going to die badly to willpower duels. Is there anything you can do about this? Any advice on crew selection / upgrades or tactics if I face Pandora again? Cheers
  14. arrrr.. good point. well made. ---------- Post added at 10:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:00 AM ---------- hadn't realised that, this is excellent, thanks for that ill keep that in mind.
  15. Hi wapcaplets, Not very experienced but... if you are concerned about Lennys low will power one option would be to take 'liquid bravery' leader upgrade on somer/orphelia which give you a 0 action to increase nearby (8") by +2Wp With Lady Justice or any other hard hitting melee master or henchman you need to lay down the fire power and kill them at range... try Rami (with Ram aura from Lenny) using focus (try Student of Conflict to give him fast) and cheat in high card. Alternatively Orphelia with soulstones can lay down some serious firepower, especially if you companion her with Francois to have two bites at the cherry. You can also try using pere ravage and/or bayou gremlins with lenny (with show off) throwing them like a hand grenade at the enemy and then using them to blow up. If you want a reliable speed bump, Raphael with Dirty Cheater, can take a beating, so you can send him ahead to slow down a melee team whilst your ranged guys can pick off the danger models with 'Shoot High' and Rami. Consider having bayous or young lacroix arranged in front of orphelia and rami as 'meat shield' skirmish line in front of you main shooters, this will block any melee attackers and you can still 'shoot high boys' above their heads. Hope some of this helps!
  16. ill be trying it out this week in a couple of friendly games and if it works, i might try it at the tournament on the 11th!
  17. Yeah Lenny has really good synergy with the orphelia gun line, as does slop hauler. Not sure about student as I'm addicted to my young lacroix but I will have to try it out with rami as it sounds deadly. I like the idea of Lenny chucking bayou gremlins 10" and then they drunk and reckless run 5" and then explode for 3 damage from watch this. Especially if you have half a dozen or more bayou and can activate several in a turn after the enemy has used all their activations! Any reason why this wouldn't work? Could be devastating if the enemy is bunched, say for turf war if they get there first and cluster in the middle. Four chucked bayous are 12 damage. More if they are in 10 inches and have a chance to do 2 damage on impact before they blow up?!
  18. So based on the feedback so far I have now added a slop hauler and fingers to my 100ss pool. Having reviewed the strategies it looks like they can be grouped into three broad team selections three of the five are basically evidence/token/board control So for these I'm thinking less young lacroix as they are insignificant peons and also more bayou for swarming quarters and placing markers, add fingers as a special as he can really help with the markers. Reckoning requires firepower above all so i guess a reduction in bayous as they are easy kills for the opponent, and take full young lacroix and kin for max killing power. Finally turf war I'm thinking small hard to kill crew, Raphael, Francois, slop hauler, Lenny, in a tight unit. Any suggestions welcomed? Also would be good to know what schemes people recommend to go with the core strategies? Or are these all randomly determined or preset for isle of faux?
  19. Thanks Fireuser good spot, I doubt I will use a max bayou list in the tournament, but it's good to know the legal maximum is 18 models for 50ss based on 14 bayou and 3 young. ---------- Post added at 10:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:29 AM ---------- Thanks rgar, as above in my response to fire user I doubt I'll actually run this crew from my pool, the most I think I've ever used is about 8 bayou, I normally take at least two kin as muscle. Regarding slop haulers, I see them in a lot of posts and lists but I've not used them yet myself, as I didn't have the models originally and then I just got used to playing without them. I might have to try them out, but for now I might just take some dirty cheaters and maybe the liquor mash for my main guys, the bayou will be have run too far away from the pack to gain support from a slop hauler, and are ussually destined for either a suicide ram blast or a watch this... Basically along with reckless I doubt they will survive long enough to benefit from healing! As for the resistance in defence, I like the idea, I need to get a slop hauler and start trying it out.
  20. Hi Lemon, see you there! last gremlin to the bar buys the ale! i hadn't thought about fingers...the 10SS put me off, but he does look awesome. I will definitely buy the whisky crew when they come out, but didn't fancy converting the whole crew in the limited time i have. Didn't think about just taking fingers though... just looking forward to bleeding green and taking down some humees
  21. Hi Malal, thanks yes I've got these. I never used the pre-cuddled versions so I won't have any comparison ---------- Post added at 08:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 AM ---------- Yes Dumb, Orphelia is rather forgiving, which i like, as its easier to focus on the actual strategy, scenario, opponent and tactics than trying to remember a hundred different rules for your own guys. I think i like to run a bayou horde now and again just to mix it up, and also to see my opponents face when i put down 19 models... normally though i just run the kin, (minus pere and with handful of bayou). Lenny is new for me, but seems to be pretty powerful Which opponents / match ups should i be taking liquid bravery against? my knowledge is pretty patchy on opponents, I've only played several of the crews once.
  22. some good advice here, thanks for this Scirian, i will keep the stilts in mind if i get a heads up on the opposition in the tournament ---------- Post added at 10:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:18 PM ---------- Thanks Davicus, i don't have any slop haulers at the moment, as i tend to focus on firepower and disposable assets, but i will consider the Quality Mash Liquor to beef up my healing abilities ---------- Post added at 10:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:20 PM ---------- Hi Dumb, yes its 100SS pool, so my selection of models is pretty much what you see in the three lists i posted, plus all the optional upgrades. So i have the situational abilities (team work, gremlin see, stilts etc) as well as the cores upgrades i might want to use. I can run any combination of 50SS crews from the 100SS pool. From an elite crew to a bayou swarm.
