Gupps: More scheme runners but not really good ones, even for 3 SS, due to low MV and need for masks on Leap. Need to pull off some unlikely shenanigans to grow into Silurids. Decent enough for the points but mainly summons for Spawn Mother IMHO.

Wouldn't it be nice if the Spawm Mother had a way to give them a free leap action with built in masks when they come out of the eggs ?

Perhaps a trigger on "Hatch eggs".

  2. Our nice old lady of the Bayou has plenty of choice in her hiring pool. Aesthetically I am a fan of this theme, I just regret we could not include Sammy Lacroix for more voodoo vibe.

I  am half way through painting her theme and I am wondering about the internal balance of this keyword.

Did you find a use for each of those models or are some blatantly more useful than others? Are some currently so bad that they will never be taken?

    Henchmen:

    • Bad Juju
    • McTavish
    • Spawnmother
    • First Mate

    Enforcers:

    • Grootslang
    • Adze

    Minions:

    • Silurid
    • Gupps
    • Bayou Gator
    • Gautraeux Bokor
    • Will 'O Wisp
    • Waldgeist

  3. So, Wokou are not really good now, Dead outlaws are in a bad spot, smugglers are wondering what they are doing in this theme.

Are all Bandit dual keyword entries in such a state? Has anyone had any success with Benny Wolcomb?

Otherwise it seems that this will be a pretty inexpensive shopping list: Crew box + Convict Gunslingers + Sue + Prospectors.

  4. Reading the bandit keyword, 3 models + 1 versatile model are competing for the 5-6SS bracket:

    • Bandido
    • Dead Outlaw
    • Bayou Smuggler
    • Prospector

It seems to me that Bandidos & Dead Outlaws fill a similar role. I am not sure I see much difference between the 2 (in terms of role on the table) so I have the feeling Bandidos may be a more optimized choice (they deal damage, can become fast, can hunt other scheme runners, 1SS cheaper).

Bayou Smugglers and Prospectors also feel similar but Prospectors seem to have way more utility and synergize with the bandits by placing scheme markers.

So, all in all, I have the feeling there are 2 dead models inside the hiring pool.

Do you have the same feeling?

Perhaps some of the models are restricted to posing and positioning because of the size of the bases Wyrd uses? Working around that alone can be tough on the designers end.

Having assembled 2.5 factions, I do not think this is the case. Additionally, since when does Wyrd care about the size of their bases :D?

I think there can be the following possibilities for this model to be as it is:

    • Wyrd thinks the render looks cool and likes it very much. In that case, At the end of the day, art is art and everybody is entitled to have her/his own tastes.
    • The current staff from Wyrd (artist and/ or sculptor) may not be skilled enough to provide the level of aesthetics, creativity, inspiration and miniature variety that was characteristic of M2E.
    • Wyrd wants to lower down production costs, especially mould costs. This is a perfectly acceptable reason. However, I think one of M2E's strongest asset was an outstanding miniature range with dynamic and colourful miniatures. Losing on this aspect, Malifaux's minis will just look like the rest of the steampunk games out there.
    • Wyrd wants to ease the assembly process. It is true that some of the M2E miniatures were not friendly to non-hobbyists and having easier to assemble miniatures may help attracting newcomers.

It makes sense that a mimic might have odd proportions

That or this artist has a specific way when it comes to the proportions of adult human-shaped characters... This is very common for him/her to draw smaller heads and long legs, as if the character was seen by a child.

Floating and/or very long capes, robes, coats... are also a thing it seems...

Is it only me thinking that his scabbards are facing to the wrong direction. In the render image he has to rotate the swords after pulling out from the scabbards.

    You have very good eyes.

Someone in the master lineup for this game needs to grunt aggressively and hit it very hard, at the expense of not doing other things very well, and she does that.

Either she does it so well that she is borderline OP and you will see her in tournaments / competitive casual play or tournament players / competitive casual players will just choose something else to play because her gameplay is too basic.

In all the miniature games I've played it was the case. Simple/basic leaders with nothing else but a great damage track are rarely played competitively (unless they are borderline OP) because they don't bring enough options for the game to stay interesting for a long time.

But perhaps her theme compensates for her extra simplicity. Reading the cards it does not seem obvious although flight and fly with me can open some options.

  8. The other 2 faction encounter boxes (Arcanists vs Gremlins, Ressers vs 10T) have more or less been incorporated into existing master themes.

However, the Guild vs NB box models have received their own keywords. The problem is that they thus may lack synergies with the themes having existing masters.

Perhaps Wyrd plans to issue masters for those keywords so the current situation is OK. If there is no such plan, it may be better to just incorporate the half blood into the Nephilim keyword and develop synergies.

  9. Yes some support or schemy action would be very welcome.

I am also surprised she does not have any interaction with half blooded models whatsoever. This would have been fluffy.

Is black blood working like before: the model that bleeds over a model that is consequently killed is responsible for the said kill?

  10. Hi Everbody,

I cannot play at the moment so I was wondering what people thought about Nekima so far.

On paper she seems very boring with big damage and no trick at all. I know she cannot be as good as Lilith was (those days seem over and it seems that masters are not as versatile as they used to be) but she really does not inspire me much.

    Is it different in practice?

If you find a better way for you i'm all for it.

I just started assembling some gremlins for the Zoraida swampfiend theme and I wonder how Gremilin players keep their sanity intact (or maybe they don't 😛). Assembling the gremlin-eating-gator was almost too much for me :D.

Adding a second gremlin as @Omenbringersuggested seems like a practical idea.

  12. I have all the NB and all the Arcanists that went out so far.

I have only had 1 or 2 discussions with the aftersales but the last one dates back from 1.5 years ago if I recall correctly. I had at least a confirmation that my request was taken into account.

In one case I even discussed with the aftersales because they could not figure out which piece was missing (Insidious madnesses are not the most readable miniatures). At the end, it required 2 sendings to solve the issue but it got solved relatively quickly and with a lot of information about what was being done.

I was all set to resubmit my issue this morning but Kimberly beat me to it with a response, apologising for the delay in response and addressing the issues raised.

I'm really happy for you. I hope your issue gets solved quickly.

  13. It has been a while since I read my fluff but I remember a few things.

In the Book 4 vignettes, it is written that Collodi leaves Malifaux city to search for his maker if I remember correctly.

If the inventor is ancient, given that most of the Fae died a long time ago, his maker would be either a powerful immortal or even a Tyrant.

I wonder if they will relate this search for an inventor with the symbol that Ramos uses on his own creations and that (again if I remember correctly) comes from ancient Malifaux books.

Or they could relate the maker to an old novel  (M1E book so my memory may not be good) where the name Collodi is used for a somewhat different creature (still a doll maker though) that attacks a village, killing people in their sleep with his dolls to recharge soulstones. But I wonder if they have not just dropped this storyline altogether.
