  1. ALL DONE! Now for the Through the Breech play testing! Results: Jeff Donaldson Winner of League Jay Wells Achievement Checklist Winner Brett Whiskin Mathew Bones David Thomas Daniel Pollacchi Winner of Painting Comp Katie Pollachi Thanks all and see most of you Thursday for game 3!
  2. Well... I am all for a PDF. This is my Height 3 stack of cards across all factions. PDFs would help because, like most people, I would want to pick up a faction deck here and there while still being able to play all of my crews. And this is far from the largest I have seen! Otherwise it will just have to be 5 x $$ (or is it 6x with Ten Thunders?) in one big hit + BOOK. I can do that (and probably WILL as I can then lend cards to players during games who have not yet got their updates), but PDFs would certainly help the player base. Oh well, either way, I am looking forward to all of this! While many of the local players have said they are going to play around with the rules when they first hit until everything settles down V1.5 Malifaux will keep going strong.
  3. Well, speculated for months and now confirmed! Interesting, exciting and scary... I will need to get soooooo many new cards. Look forward to this.
  4. Right schemes, right enemies and they are awesome. Healing flips are rare, so having a model that can hand these out, especially to other models, is very handy. Really there is nothing I can say that hasn't been said on the Pull My Finger Wikki, but they are great although not as swiss as some of the other models. Neither of them is an auto-include in my crews and it depends largely on what my opponent is playing at what schemes and strategies I have drawn/selected. Oh, and GET A CONVICT GUNSLINGER, really. They are awesome even though they don't have the same synergy as some other choices. By the way, welcome to the game... hope you love it!
  5. Hats off to your sir, this is a rather outstanding table. I shall steel that idea for stones too.
  6. I am adding in a special Easter challenge for the 30th. Just for fun, laughs and chocolate consumption!
  7. Well, people have collected more models (some of you have gone CRAZY and have collections to rival my own...now paint them), so the time has come for another League of Unusual Garage Gamers! (Yes, we are LUGG Nuts) I will kick this one off on the International Games Day event I am running on the 30th of March. Again, painting comp will run along with the League and for fun I will throw in an achievement list too! (probably one of those we used for the Dead of Winter games, but you will have several games to get it done) Rules are pretty much the same as before... With everyone working and having family/kids once a fortnight was voted as the best so people could commit. What: Malifaux Garage Gamers League Series Entry: FREE! Who: Um... YOU GUYS! When: First games are late this week (Sunday the 30th of March 2013) How: Three games per player over 6 weeks (one each fortnight). The winner will be determined by total victory points earned over the three games, with a maximum of 8VP per game. Game Format: Spicing it up (use those Rattys Cards I made you): 1 shared strategy decided at random, 1 individual strategy EACH decided at random , 2 schemes chosen by each player (unique for the league...so you cannot take the same scheme in more than one game). Remember you can sacrifice a scheme for an extra soul stone. Crew: 25 - 30 SS agreed on by players before the game Prizes: Winner: $20 towards something from the store I will pay postage Achievement Checklist Winner: Kudos. This is just there for the fun of it. I will make a button badge and a certificate too (it will be very nice, photoshop skills GO!). This will be printed in full colour and on nice card (thanks to my work..um, no...cough). It will look smart, for sure. Where: Each player will be contacted by email regarding their match ups or we can get it sorted on Sunday. Once you have the match ups you can email each other and arrange the time/place, please CC me (or email me if you text the hell out of each other) to keep me in the loop. All current players are South of the river Perth Metro (Armadale and further)...so if you are thinking of joining later please keep this in mind. Sorry, nobody likes commuting for an hour down the freeway after midnight! Devil in the Details: I will also be playing in the league, but am ineligible for any prizes. I will also play any games if someone needs to forfeit, so people can still get their game in and earn points. Once you win it will take about 3 weeks for your prizes to arrive due to postage time. Not everyone will get to play everyone else, but you can have games outside of the league...they just don't count I will attend games if I can and you still need me, but you guys are rocking with these rules. Painting Contest To keep you all motivated, without huge pressure, I will run the painting contest we discussed. How: Choose 1 model from your crew. Send me the name and a photo of the model. Each time you play a game ask your opponent to have a good look at it. In the after game email from each player please include a score from 1 to 10 for your opponents model (with 1 being "At least it was primed" and 10 being "I thought it was going to start moving!"). Highest total score wins! Prize: $10 towards something in the store Devil in the Details: You can only enter a model once...ever... SO NOT THE SAME MODEL AS LAST TIME!!! All scores given are totally confidential and will never be discussed. Promise. Except totals, if you want the totals I will give you those...but never what other people rated any model. Post Game Email Player: Opponent: Shared Strategy: Individual Strategy: Schemes (2) used by YOU: Victory points earned by YOU: Judgement on painting of OPPONENTS model: /10 DEMOs A few people have also said that they have a friend who may be interested or who you have already shown the game to. If you are willing to make one of your League games a Demo too you will be able to tick off achievements!
  8. A great start and welcome to the game/hobby. Interesting crew for a first crew, but interesting is what makes this game work. Some nice paint there, good job. the giant seem down the middle of choppy is a pain.. Hard to get rid of effectively, especially if you are not handy with green stuff. Not matter, looking good.
  9. And that works. Having large flat areas means you can put whatever you like on there, from scrub to crates and even buildings. Looking good.
  10. So many ways of reading this... I am assuming from sitting down for to long?
  11. Mixed feelings... jealousy...admiration...awe. These wastrels are looking fantastic! An ambitious project that is coming along very well.
  12. In support of table top games day on the 30th of March I will be running games with the Garage Gamers in the Armadale area of Perth from 5:30pm through to Midnight. The games will largely focus on Malifaux, but some other games that may make an appearance include Dust Tactics / Warfare, Necromunda, Zombie...something... and Mordheim. Entrance and participation is free with BYO drinks and dinner (snacks provided). Edit: We will be trying out the Malifaux multiplayer rules too!
  13. I have found that generally he doesn't dish out as much slow (or paralysed...honestly, how often do you see severe damage?) as people fear. If it worries you that much make defence against his shots a priority. It can be annoying as it allows for effective hit and run tactics but over 6 turns it is no where near pandora level of opponent dispair. Remember that you can only be slowed once in a turn, the effects do not stack(so slow + slow does not take away 2 ap) and don't bunch up (sorry Hoffman train).
  14. Unknown about door height...but... Since choppy is height 4 and has a 3 inch melee range he can reach over intervening models to strike. So short answer? Yes, he could have attacked over a height 3 model to strike another within his range.
  15. Number one? Activation order. This probably come under mistakes, but the amount of times I have activated a model to retaliate against an attacker (even though the attacker cannot do anything now until next turn) rather than look at what else is about to happen is frustrating....mind you it happens mostly after 11:30pm...so my brain is about to become a pumpkin. Number two...the hand. Forget flips and jokers (jokers happen, but some games I see neither of them) whatever I flip I can deal with, but having a crap hand and being unable to guarantee that I can get off that super awesome ability at the right time I feel all...exposed. Al time number one? Skill and knowledge. When I play a crew I know very well, when I take the models to achieve the schemes and strategies...it is certainly easier to win than when I take something new or 'fun'. Oh, let's be honest. The number one deciding factor is VonSchill.
  16. Yes, the eyes annoyed me too. I had not seen it from a low angle before and what I had missed was some white paint got up on the inside where it shouldn't have been. Never noticed it when looking down at the model. One the 'to fix' list. As for the horse, I was going to do brown...then though of the spotted horse (Appaloosa), but went for the golden palomino instead. Think it turned out for the best.
  17. I haven't posted up anything I have painted recently, but thought I would have a crack at this as I am pretty happy with the outcome. I think McCabes eyes are a bit odd...but will do for now. Well, 35 more Malifaux miniatures to paint before I buy any more...
  18. In larger games the executioner is great when paired up with Granny thanks to shot gun wedding. He then gains family! The executioner fills the big hole in the Ortega crew, that is close combat abilities. To keep in theme I also have an Austringer (falcon type guy) and would also heavily recommend a watcher. There are several great guild objective grabbers (like wastrels) although for the theme I like pistoleros...although they are a little lame for their points when compared to other models. For giggles I like to run this in 35SS Perdita Ortega -- 5 Pool Enslaved Nephilim [2ss] Abuela Ortega [7ss] Executioner [7ss] Latigo Pistolero [3ss] Latigo Pistolero [3ss] Nino Ortega [7ss] Watcher [3ss] Use the enslaved to Obey Nino around so he gets the maximum shots off and the watcher to cycle cards for suits needed for triggers. You ave enough soul stones so that Perdita can get some good totals, be it defense or attack. It is not the most competitive list but it plays well and has a good theme to it is such a thing is important to you. It also GREATLY depends on your schemes and strategies. More capture areas or getting across the table? Take a rider and some wastrels. More defense of home turf? Take riflemen. Either way, collect what you like and have some fun hope that helps.
  19. Dead of Winter One Day Achievement League Western Australia What? A series of one day achievement leagues. One event will be held each week where you will have 24 hours to play as many games as you please in order to try and tick off various fun challenges ranging from killing unpainted models to successfully completing various schemes. You may join in at any point you like and do not need to participate every week. Here is the official blurb: Description: This is a one day event in which players attempt to accomplish various achievements throughout the course of their games. Players may choose their own opponents and play as many or few games as they choose during the hours the event is running. The only limit is that all games must be played during the allotted hours and games may not be played against the same opponent twice in a row (players may play the same opponent twice, just not consecutively). Game Size: All games must be 25-35 soulstones. Winning: As you play your games, mark off the achievements which you have accomplished. An achievement may be accomplished a number of times equal to the number of boxes next to it. At the end of the allotted time, the henchman running the event will tally up each player’s achievements. Each person who voted for a player as their favorite opponent counts as one achievement for that player. The player with the most total achievements at the end wins the event. The winner gets to vote for one faction of their choice, which will affect the outcome of the ongoing story in favor of that faction. How? As this is a 24 hour league event and the games will not all be played in one central location I will be POSTING you your achievement checklist for each game unless you have arranged to attend the Thursday night game. I will post the lists 2 business days before the event, so with local postage it should arrive the day before you are due to play. You will then have 2 business days for it to get back to my letter box, so post it the next day if you can. I realize this technically gives players a little lean either way, but with busy lives I am happy to make this fun and comfortable. Late returns will not be counted, sorry. IF YOU ARE A COUNTRY PLAYER let me know so I can post your check lists out earlier, you will also get extra time to get your list back to me. When? 6 weeks between the dates of January 15th to February 24th. The group I regularly play with does so on a Thursday night, so all scheduled events by me will be for Thursdays. Sorry if this is a bother to anyone. With the postage system you may get away with an early/late game(s), either way we will all have the same time frame to work in so that keeps it fair. On Thursday nights I am happy to host a few games at my place from 7:30pm until Midnight. I have space for 2 or 3 games to run at the same time comfortably but you will need to check with me first, my wife will get all killy on me if I fill the house with sweaty nerds every Thursday. PM me for further details. Otherwise you are free to organize games at your house/club/garage/batcave/where ever and just send me on the check list within the time frame outlined above. Who? YOU! I will contact my friends via email but if you live in Western Australia and would like to take part leave a message below and I will sign you up. Prizes? As outlined in the first block of text. Cost? Postage stamps. You are responsible for posting your stuff back to me...I will pay for outgoing mail (gee I am nice ). WARNING I am away (as in no internet access) for the week leading up to this event. If I don't get back to you DO NOT PANIC. Hold your towel tight and lie down in a cool area...I WILL get back to you.
  20. Not too much. First, the door is exactly the same size as one of the double windows in my set, the one with brickwork pillars on both sides of the actual frame. Also, leaving out one panel for a larger door makes being precise less nessecary. Otherwise, yes, I did have to play around a bit but that was mostly to find a shape I liked. Edit. Looking at the bits the large window is the one that fits above the door for the second story. It is exactly the same size as it takes the doors place on floor 2 and higher.
  21. I will have a look at and play with the files later...for now...fast and nasty book shelves! Match Box Spray with black undercoat Glue on the print of a bookshelf (google images) Finished!
  22. Gladly. I am in the process of finding a reliable online file sharing thing...any tech heads with advice? Should I do a torrent or a drop box thing? I tried sharing some template files I did, including an awesome blast marker with handle' but it only worked for a very short time. I also have some full skins for modern stuff like shipping containers. Once again just print, glue cut and assemble.
  23. BITZ! I have been in this game for a long time and had bits of other kits, bits of crappy lego knock offs, and just bits of stuff that I thought looked interesting (like one of them has a dust cap off an old bike tire). Sorry I cannot be more helpful than that, I literally have a junky container of just assorted stuff from back in the day when I converted 40k models extensively. I have gone ahead and glued in some decor. I have made the decision to have it very 2D and flat against the walls as I have built cluttered rooms full of furniture before and have found that while it looks AWESOME it hinders the game just enough to be annoying. So fresh you can still see wet glue at the edges! I have plans for building some VERY simple but effective pieces that will stick to the walls and provide soft cover but will wait until I have mock ups before sharing. In the meantime here is a great idea that looks funky and uses more of those Christmas surplus items that may be on sale in your area...fake tea lights! and BluTac... It was hard to get a good picture but when turned on the flickering golden light looks awesome through the windows. Next change will be a little superglue and magnets. Thanks again and I will hopefully get some more stuff done soon. I run and organize a ton of games at friends houses and demos, but at this rate I could start my own club! Hmmmm, ideas...
  24. I have a few, although they are all old. I have been painting but have not photographed anything for a while. May try some updates before my holidays run out. http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?33964-Pagans-little-bit-of-everything-lots-of-pics&highlight=pagan+wolfe http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?35800-Wolfe-vs-The-Hungry-Darkness&highlight=pagan+wolfe http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?36051-Wolfes-Lynch-Mob&highlight=wolfes Cheers.
  25. I played a game last night in the experimental type table (all walls) with Lucas McCabe vs Lilith. Over all the game went very well without any major rules problems, however we did make a few clarifications. Random junk added for hard/soft cover bits... 1) While flying models could fly down the corridors and across the rooms (avoiding disengaging strikes and the like) they could not fly OVER the walls (ceiling and all that...different i you just called it a maze I suppose). 2)Spirits and other models that have an ability to let them move through terrain (like Wastrels) are very handy. 3) Liliths ability to see right through walls to target things is nasty Hard fought game with a 2VP vs 1VP win for Lilith. So I may go ahead now and start making it look better. It was also quite a mild day today so I made the effort to get out to the shed and do some painting. I used some bold colours for the tin roofs to keep it Malifaux flavoured. Also, as predicted, while slapping on the base coat of Black over the cardboard with poster paint all of the daggy fluffy bits stuck down making it look much cleaner. Not finished yet, still to add some posters stuck to the walls in sections and do a little landscaping. It wasn't until I was taking these photos I noticed I had completely forgotten to do the guard post...sigh.
