In other words, the reason why Channel specifies "exactly 2 damage" is to prevent Leveticus from suffering four damage to get to a single action. Not to forbid any rules mechanics from ever interacting with the damage process.
Well he actually can do this but isn't part of OP's question, but for clarity will put it here:
- Channel
- Charge
- Channel
- Attack with
- Lose one cause first attack ended
- Channel
- Attack with
- Lose both cause charge and second attack have ended
*Assuming he has enough wounds to channel three times

Friendly reminder that this event is occurring next Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing everyone. I'll be brining extra models in case people need things to borrow. I'll have some 10T, Rezzer, NB, and Outcast stuff to loan out if necessary.
Remember, while this is "a tournament", its just an excuse for organized play so no one should feel intimidated by the fact its a 'tournament'!

I did also note models such as the Desolation engine that say exactly this:
"Restabilize: After Damaging, this model heals an amount of damage equal to the amount of damage suffered from this attack." (emphasis mine)
The FAQ makes it reasonably clear that the damage suffered by a model is not what the model actually takes.
13) Q: When a Gremlin deals damage and activates the Dumb Luck Trigger, does the gremlin take half of the total damage flipped, or half of the damage actually put onto the target? For example, if Dumb Luck caused the target to suffer 4 damage, but the target had Armor +2, reducing that damage to 2, would the Gremlin take half of the original 4 damage, or half of the 2 damage suffered after accounting for Armor?
A: The Gremlin takes half of the total damage flipped, so the Gremlin in the example would suffer 2 damage (4 divided by 2). This answer applies to any Triggers which generate something based on the amount of damage suffered by the target (for example, the Desolation Engine’s Restabilize Trigger and Lelu’s Drink Blood Trigger).Order of operations as I see supported by the FAQ:
1) A model suffers damage
2) A model applies any effects that may reduce that damage.
3) The wounds are then marked off the stat card. This may seem pedantic but FAQ states that the answer "applies to any trigger...", which channeling and dmg suffered do not. The answer appears to only apply to triggers and effects. Using soulstones (as far as I know is not an effect), while healing (or armor) is. By drawing a relation between damage prevention and other effects in the game I think it is a stretch and in no way do I see anything in the rules that supports that (but happy to be told otherwise).
Furthermore, I am not sure if was stated directly by Wyrd or posted officially somewhere (don't have reference), but as far as I know an FAQ answer specifically references the things it is answering and any other conjecture does not provide enough precedence as proof for answers to other questions unless directly reference.

That's not exactly true.
Suffer does not mean taken in the world of Malifaux. He must suffer two damage to gain the channel, but nothing is stopping him from stoning to prevent that damage.
Taking the full 2 damage is not a prerequisite to gaining the channel ability.I'll respectfully disagree. The use of soulstones states that it reduces the damage suffered. Page 29 small rulebook.
Quote"Prevent damage Some models can spend Soulstones from the Crew’s Soulstone Pool to avoid suffering damage. For more information on damage prevention, see page 53."
Channel states suffer exactly 2 if you prevent any you have not suffered 2.
You have a good point on your "Death By Suffocation" example so he'd need to prevent exactly 1 for it to succeed, so he suffers exactly 2 still. But in the general case he needs to suffer exactly 2 for it to count.

No Channel states he needs to suffer exactly 2 damage.

I don't believe S&S is general advice. It's pretty obvious that every master spotlight is one players perspective and use (usually with high levels of success). That's the beauty of the game is so many ways to skin the cat! Game is all about application of the tools hired to do the job, this ultimately translates into player skill, and any 'single' list shouldn't be considered "the best list" but rather "the right list for a player". I've seen Blake play a killy Somer list I just think his summoning variant is a little more versatile.

I am in total agreement that charges can go over climbable terrain but have to take the movement penalties associated with it.
With that said if a model ends a charge (within engagement range of target) and on the piece of terrain, the rules are slightly less clear. In that case we place the model on the other side of the wall if the majority of the base makes it over the wall. This is a worse issue for larger base models like 40mm and 50mm.
Regardless, I think @solkan really provides the most accurate information to answer the OP's question, you are able to charge over climbable terrain.

I forgot to mention (will update OP) we are doing $5 entry fee for each. The sum of this will go into the prize pool.

I just purchased my ticket. Setting the goal of "score higher than @PeregrineFalcon and/or beat him if we match up."
Should be easy if I end up taking the CR7.....or will it ;P

Sure, sounds fun.
Crossroads 7 may be declared as a 'faction' and change their faction selection each round if they are the only models used at the event, in the same manner as the UK masters.
I'll update the main page when I get a chance.
Cool thx.
Just to be clear, with the 2ss left over, if they play as NB you can hire a primordial magic (as an example), or if playing in Rezzers you can take spare parts and summon rogue necromancy and Guild Autopsies so there may be other models used but all in the rules of hiring (and leading with Wrath).

do you plan to be there the 22nd of March?
I will be at Milly's the 22nd. I have another game planned for around 6pm this week, but can coordinate if you're looking for a game. I can also coordinate a proper demo in if you are interested. What time would you be coming by so I can figure out my schedule for the day?

As a person with an old (metal) painted gang who never played...this sounds like a good way to get back into the game...
We'd be glad to have you. We're a friendly group and if you need to go over the rules I can help before the event as well as I'll be there to answer questions. Also, all of the people who play are incredibly friendly and will help. While this is a 'tournament', its just an excuse to get some games in and play at the new store that opened up.
Hope you are able to make it out! Let me know if you have any questions.

Considering running the Crossroads 7 as an option.
Would it be kosher to "Declare the Crossroads 7" for the event rather than "Declare a faction". I would declare a faction at the start of each round to my opponent as per normal setup rules, but I wouldn't be locked into a single faction for the entire event. Is this something I can do?
It would allow for me to swap upgrades/models (i.e. only 2ss to work with here).
Reason I'd consider doing this is purely to see how viable it is at a tourney after the many claims that people have made about them not being viable (which I mostly agree with). Plus it would just be fun to try!
No idea if I'll have time to finish painting them all but this will give me incentive if I decide to go this route.
Thx!

We have the Crossroads 7 already (7 deadly sins as members of a rock band, one from each faction).
