  1. Sorry to intervene - for the LOS thing I was referring to this drawing http://malifauxshadow.blogspot.nl/2014/02/line-of-sight-and-cover-issues.html and cover between model G and H. Thx. Ausplosions for pointing our my mistake.
  2. My understanding with the LOS and cover rules is that cover only applies when the whole base is in the 'covering' terrain - such as woods. I think a Q&A covered that. On the other hand if moving I apply the severe restrictions as soon as the models base enters the terrain base but tbh I'm new to the game and haven't had any discussions on this with the people I played thus far. How this approach would translate to falling? Interested to hear others opinions on that.
  3. Thx. Nical. I was planning to go through the Duel Stat Types article once more and in the meantime took the Pullmyfinger article on Pandora. I have to admit its still mind boggling for me so will probably be back with more questions once I've find time to read all the stuff.
  4. There was some misunderstanding previously since Lure lets models move its Wk people thought it was a Walk action. No card handy but I think Pounce doesn't activate on a Walk (and Charge) action. I'll have to look into the Kade/Teddy combo .....
  5. Thx. guys, I'm afraid that I'm having to learn most of the game in isolation so these comments are really helpful. After your comments and reading (and trying to grasp ) every individual word I noted that Expose Fears also mentions 'This model considers the duel a Wp duel'. In my solo test game I read over this resulting in both models engaged in a Wp duel making Pandora a bid overpowered vs the Tot's as she ate away the Tot's health points.
  6. I was wondering since Lure is a move does Pounce activate on Baby Kade when an enemy is lured within the Baby's engagement range?
  7. I was playing a solo game to learn the ropes of the game and doing so ran into the following situation and wondered whether the sequence was right. A terrot tot attacked Pandora with his Blackened Claws in an opposed duel. Pandora responded with Expose Fears, turning the attack into a Wp duel for her. The terror tot did not draw the right cards and lost the attack. Pandora responded with Fading Memory, since she won the opposed Wp duel, and immediatly pushed herself a few inches away from the terror tot. I think the latest Q&A supports this sequence. The terror tot still within the 6 inch Misery aura of Pandora than suffered another 1 damage. Since Pandora was already push away beyond 1 pulse the Black Blood ability from the terror tot did not hurt her. The tide then shifted sides and it was Pandaro's turn to activate. Pandora activated Inflict succesfully and the terror suffered 1 damage and Pandora's Misery did another 1 damage. After receiving the 2 damage the terrot tot dished out Black Blood once but since Pandora wasn't within 1 pulse of the tot it had no effect. Also Fading Memory did not activate as Inflict is not an opposed duel.
  8. I've played miniature boardgames before but Malifaux is the first game without the 'restrictions' of a game board. In oder to have some variaty on the table I was planning to use some terrain I have left here and there and among it is a long wall section of several individual pieces. Instead of making it a long wall I planned to have various open spaces between the various wall sections to reflect if being torn down in places. My idea was to leave gaps of 30 mm so that most models can pass through the gaps and don't have to resort to climbing over the wall. Models on the bigger roundels, 40 - 50 mm, would not be able to pass so get some delay in movement while they climb the walls. With boardgames thing like this are usually well defined and I was wondering if this would work for Malifaux or does it create to much detail and complication while playing the game?
  9. Thx for clarifying. Sinds it is a move, not a walk action?, a disengaging strike will not be taken when the model in b2b contact with the tot is succesfully lured?
  10. Hi there. We had a situation yesterday where a beckoner lured an enemy model. Moving in a straight line the model bumped against my terror tot and as a result stopped. Terror tot was able to puonce as a result. Since the beckoner has another action point to spare it decides to lure the enemy model again. My understanding is that lure can be made and if succesfull the enemy model does not move ... since it is already bumped by the terror tot by the previous lure action. Right? I'm also wondering if the terror tot could pounce again due to the 2nd lure action. Thx.
  11. Thx. With the charge i meant starting it outside of the traps range and tha n charge in and out of the traps trange in on action. So no start action in range and no end action in range of the trap. Hope that clarifies.
  12. I had a bid of a discussion last night on this. The situation was as follows (no cards handy). My terror tot walked just outside the 2 of a trap that got placed by the pathfinder. It decided then to sprint drawing the required suit in the process. The sprint action allowed for a wk 5 through the traps engagement range (total of a little more than 4 inch max). According to my opponent such a move is not allowed without the trap able to stop the terror tot and call for a disengaging strike for spending the next 1 AP Walk action There are also some actions and abilities on the trap that I didn't fully grasp (new player here and my mind was still boggling at the time) so this might have caused it. The only argument against this I can find is what Godlyness says - Only if you Walk action begins in an enemy's engagement range would they get a Disengaging strike. I didn't find any further clarification in the Q&A. I'm now wondering whether a Charge action instead would have solved it, no disengaging strike in that situation.
  13. What do you mean with keeping the Sorrows hidden Tom? Hidden from Sonnia? The Misery aura only works within line of sight or not?
  14. Thx. for the question! This game is getting more and more interesting once its starts to click. Answers like this are a big help.
  15. Played another small solo game today to get to grips with the rules and mechanics. Few questions that came out of it below. 1. Can a unit without a in its actions charge another unit? I was playing with a Beckoner and reading the charge rules it seems the is required for a successful charge. 2. Can you cheat a disengaging strike? Nothing mentioned in the rules section so I'm assuming not. Thx.
  16. Thx. for clarifying Q1. Reread it today and apparently I read over it multiple times *slap forehead*. On question 1 though. In an example where 2 models are 2 inches apart and model A has a 2 range while model B has a 1 range. When I initiate a walk action with model A it will not have to disengage while if model B performs a walk action it has to disengage.
  17. Hi there. I'm new to Malifaux and currently working myself through the small rulebook. I have some questions related to the models attack and tactical actions. Probably best to use the Rasputina card pictured in the booklet for my questions. 1. Rasputina's actions do not have a close attack symbol with any of the ranges. My understanding is that Rasputina in itself cannot engage with models however when she is in close attack range with another model both Rasputina and the other model are engaged and both will have to 'disengage' when declaring an walk action with the intention to get out of engagement range. 2. Some of Rasputina's ranges have the projectile symbol while others don't. My understanding is that for actions without the projectile symbol cover is not taken into account. 3. Rasputina's Freeze over action has a tome after the Ca number but not after the TN. Since there is no trigger for the tome I don't see an immediate need for including it in the Ca number. 4. Rasputina's December Curse action has a tome for both the Ca and TN number. Since the Ca action has the tome does it mean the tome also automatically included in the TN number or do you need to draw the tome to make the TN number? 5. In similar vain as q4 one trigger for December Curse has a double tome. Does it mean that, since both Ca and TN have a tome, the trigger is automatically applied or do I need to flip an additional tome? 6. Another question not relevant for Rasputina, but some models I that I own have a suit next to a Ml action. There is also a trigger for this specific suit. Does it mean that when I make the Ml action I automatically make the trigger? Thx.
  18. Does Pandora not have a similar thing with her stat line. No card handy but the WP has a 7 and I don't see an immediate use for the
  19. Thx. for taking the patience in clarifying and providing examples. It helped me a lot! After reading the comment and re-re-re-reading the card I think it finaly sunk in. I missed the 'or target this model with an action part' which means that models having a melee range outside of the Hanged engagement range are impacted as well. The Unrelenting terror ability, with your explenations, makes more sense as well. Does this mean that a model that charges the Hanged attacks twice while only checking for Horror one time? Also the Terrifying (all) means living, undead, spirits, woes, etc, they are all affected? I couldn't find a restriction in the small booklet.
  20. Thx. for clarifying things but I still fail to see the use for the Unrelenting Terror ability. Sounds very situational to me and from the limited models/cards and experience I have I don't see any use for it (no models with immunity to terror checks in my collection).
  21. Ì just started playing the Hanged in my crew so started wondering about this entry in PullMyFinger - 'Every time an enemy ends a Walk within 1" or the Hanged, or targets the Hanged, it needs to make a Horror Duel. Because of Unrelenting Terror, for enemies within 4" this really means every time. Twice when they Charge!' I understand the first sentence when Terrifying kicks in but I fail to understand the second sentence. Unreleting Terror has a 4 inch range and works when an enemy does not charge this model so how come it has to check twice when they charge? Its probably something basic I miss but I fail see it. Thx. for the help.
  22. Hello, new player here with access to the small booklet only. After reading the booklet fully one time and playing a few solo situations my understanding is that once I enter a models engagement range from outside off that range I have to remain in that enemy models engagement range. For me this implies that if I have a model with a 1 inch engagement range I can move anywhere within the 2 inch engagement range of another enemy model in order to attack or make use of an aura on my model for example. Once in the engagement range of an enemy model I can still move anywhere within that engegement range area on a next activation and only if want to leave the engagement range to disengage I have to pass a disengaging strike. What I'm not clear about is a situation in which my model takes a wk action that will take him "through" the engagement range of an enemy model. Is it possible to use the 1 AP action to wk into the engagement range, then perform a disengaging strike while leaving and, if succesfull continue the wk action. Or do I stop and end my first wk action, spend my 2nd wk action with, hopefully, a succesfull disengaging strike in order to continue moving.
  23. I'm still learning the ropes with Malifaux and was going through this sequence yesterday as well. For example I had a model with Ca6 and a TN# ... my understanding from previous threads is that 'counter spell' can cancel, in this case, the . Since a is included in the Ca the TN will be succesfull if the # is reached. However with 'counter spell', or other option with similar effect, the would be cancelled and the TN auto fails ... unless I cheat with a right?
  24. I started Malifaux about 2 months ago and bought Pandora so I'm not sure I can give the best ideas. People advised me to go for Teddy and after having read the cards for the crew and looking at the Pullmyfinger info I added beckoners in the mix ... hoping they will fit my playstyle.
  25. Hi there. I was surfing over internet but couldn't find any picture for a pinned flying nephilim. My idea is to 'pin' on of the young Nephilims as if it is jumping into the air while taking flight ... so I'm looking for a 'pin' of about 2 - 3 inch long 'pinned' somewhere in the Nephilim. But I'm not sure what the best place for it is, either the belly or somewhere in the butt are the options I'm currently considering. Anybody who has ever treid this before?
