  1. Would this also apply in case of Misdirection? Wanted to ask and not aware of the FAQ so we had some discussion on it a few weeks ago. Thx. Misdirection This model gains the following Ability: Df() Misdirection: After an Attack from an enemy model succeeds against this model, target model within 2" of this model must discard two cards or suffer the effects of the Attack Action instead of this model. The model which Attacked this model may not be the target.
  2. Same experience here. She was among my first masters and I played 1 or 2 'good' games in which I swirled Izamu around, get Ikyro (if that's spelled right) out, gain activation advantage and summoning didn't get into play that often. I think you play 1 game and focus on something you can do whether its tactically good or not, play a 2nd game focus on another her specialty etc. and after a while start combining stuff. Games I play with her tend to take huge amounts of time and mentally taxing so not (yet at least) something that I would play in 2 hours tournaments.
  3. Thx. for all insights guys. I didn't realize Goryo was 'Retainer' so can be hired for 10T Yan Lo as well.
  4. Wondering how you would approach it. I've recently started playing Yan Lo and firing his Chi turn 1 with an Ashigaru didn't work as it was way to cumbersome for me therefore interested what other models would work for Chi farming in a 10T Yan Lo (before I commit to buying them). I also played a game not farming for Chi and it felt like I couldn't achieve much with him as 10T master. Granted it was the first try and without much 'ranged' models against Perdita (with Wp support to crew) on a relative open board so not the best way to measure it tbh.
  5. I was hoping that this was the question whether Monks contribute anything in a Yan Lo crew? I can see them being first turn targets for Yan Lo to increase his Chi and than, potentially, have Toshiro summon an Ashigaru from its corpse.
  6. Count me as one of those that see BJ as autofail in this case. Thx. for additional comment.
  7. Having only recently 'discovered' relent and the possibility for the attacker to cheat I wondered about the following. My model attacks another friendly model. I decide to relent which means only the attacking model will flip a card. Suppose I flip a #13 card resulting in a tie. Now I/the attacking model decide(s) to cheat with a #1 card with a suit in order to hit the trigger for the attack. Is this still result still considered a tie? For the accuracy modifier do I flip (3 cards, pick the lowest)? ... or do I flip (2 cards, pick the lowest) since the 'cheated' 1 card resulted in a 1-5 difference vs the initial tie?
  8. Thx. Ludvig. Not sure I get it but do you mean that once the trap is 'Clamped on' it can be placed in base to base contact with the model once that models end it's move. After placing the trap in btb contact with the model the trap can attack with it's Trapping Jaw attack action ... potentially hitting the 'Clamping on' trigger again for a next turn.
  9. Thx. for clarifying and rules reference.
  10. Thx. After experimenting with some opening moves realised today that attacker cheating on a relent can be done with any card so Yin can activate her trigger. Situational but might be usefull mid game as well with Yin potentially pushed approx. 16"
  11. Not sure I understand the consequences of the trap's attack action correctly. Assume an enemy model ends a move, push or placement within the 2" range of the trap and the Trapping Jaw attack is succesfull + the triggers the 'Clamped On' ability. During the next turn the model activates resulting in the 'Clamp Down' ability to activate with the enemy model taking a TN 13 Wk duel. Whether this duel is succesfull or not what happens if the enemy models moves, is pushed or placed as long as the 'Clamped On' ability is active? First the trap may be placed in base contact but will the 'Trapping Jaw' attack activate again as well? What if the enemy model only attacks, looks like the 'Trapping Jaw' attack will not activate despite it being 'Clamped On' from the previous turn.
  12. This upgrade allows the leader to be pushed 3 inch in any direction at the end of the turn. I assume the push is done after VP's are counted for things like Turf War etc, right?
  13. Yin has the attack action - The Real Behind the Eyes - which as a range of 8. The damage spread is 1/2/4. Would it be possible to have a friendly Relent to this attack, after a possible cheat fate flip, in order to trigger Look and Be Afraid to activate? This trigger will, after damaging, push Yin into base contact with the target. For Relent Yin will flip a card while the defending model does not. Once fipped 3 cards will be flipped for the damage due to the result so, hopefully, the damage to the friendly model will be 1. The idea would be to also cheat Yin's attack flip with any card for the Look and Be Afraid trigger to activate. Not sure I got all the rules in order hence the question.
  14. I've started playing Yan-Lo recently and to get his Chi up you can charge them and start hitting your own models with defensive stance turn 1. You get, with the help of a potential cheat flip, the required damage off more easily or simple kill the model for a +1 Chi. People suggested to try defensive stand with him, still have to see how it works but plan to do that next time I play. On things like Luring friendly models I tend to relent instead.
  15. Alternatively you can put Defensive stance +1 or +2 on the friendly model before you make the attack on it.
  16. There is a Q&A referring to Scheme markers which solve the question probably but ... 48) Q: If a model on a 30mm base is positioned perfectly on top of a 30mm Scheme Marker such that the Marker is completely covered, can other models draw LoS to the Scheme Marker? A: No. Note that in the case multiple Scheme Markers are stacked on top of each other (with nothing else on top of/blocking them) models may draw LoS to all Markers in the stack because Scheme Markers are not blocking. I assume the same applied in reverse, that is that LOS cannot be drawn from the Scheme Marker to the other models. Widow Weaver can create Webs (0) Create Web: Place a Web Marker within 6" and LoS. Enemy models suffer -1 Wp for each Web Marker within 3" and LoS of them. ... Would the Web Market be treated similarly to a Scheme Marker when it comes to LOS and impact? If I place my model on the Web Marker only that model would be impacted by the -1 Wp while all my other models within 3 inch of the Web Marker would not have LOS from the Web Marker and hence not be impacted. Right?
  17. This 1 action on the Dreamer has a trigger resulting in a Paralyzed model if its Wp is 4 or less. Is this trigger referring to the printed Wp on the stat line of the model? Or is the trigger referring to a modified Wp? For example I had a model surrounded by web markers resulting in its modified Wp being less then 4 while its stat line had a 5 Wp.
  18. Probably stating the obvious but you can cheat the Horror check if you fail the initial flip. I was playing a 35 stone game the other day facing an all Terrifying (Horror) crew and with cheating I didn't paralyze any of my models the whole game, it did cost me a lot of hand cards though. Also I put a little more effort in moving and scheme marker placement instead of direct attacks which also helped.
  19. I don't remember what the models, abilities and actions were but ... what comes to mind is for example Misery damage from Sorrow's If in my example the Punk Zombie, 3 points of life left, would be in 'Misery' range of 3 Sorrow's and fails a Wp duel from Pandora would the Sorrows Misery damage remove the Punk Zombie neglecting its Hard to Kill basically.
  20. I had my Punk Zombie on 2 wounds. There were 2 enemy units that were, due to a game effect, able to cause 1 damage each to the Punk Zombie. I recall (but not sure) another question that indicated that each damage would be treated separate from one another. Basically the above situation would yield a total of 2 wounds on the Punk Zombie, one after the other, resulting in a killed Punk Zombie. The Hard to Kill ability on the Zombie could not 'save' it this turn. Did we play this correctly?
  21. I ran into this situation yesterday and wondered ... hence the question. With Paralyzed a model generates no AP and can declare no Actions during its Activation (not even 0 Actions which cost no AP). Would this still allow model Abilities to go off during its activation? I was playing Yan Lo and his 'Focus Chi' ability allows him to discard a card to gain a Chi +1 at the start of his activation. On another note do paralyzed models still benefit from their 'defensive' passive and active Abilities? For example would Bishops Cage Fighter defensive trigger still go off when he is paralyzed and attacked by a attack that misses him?
  22. Thx. guys for pointing out the details. I'm still falling in the trap of not reading the cards when playing with new models. Reading in low light in the evening doesn't help either
  23. I recently got my Yan Lo box assembled. Looking at the cards for his crew was wondering if below sequence would work. Turn 1 - Chiaki activates and casts 'The calling' on Toshiro with the trigger. Toshiro relents and Chiaki gains Chi +1 condition. Toshiro suffers from damage flip (which can't be cheated). Yan Lo activates, discards a card to 'Focus Chi' then he casts 'Instill Youth' to heal Toshiro. Turn 2 - Chiaki activates and with het 'Innocence' transfers het Chi +1 condition to Toshiro.
  24. Probably asked before but I couldn't figure it out. Started playing solo to test some new models and ran into the following questions. Fears given form: Models that begin their activation within this model's engagement range must succeed on a Df 14 duel or suffer 3 damage. Necropunks Reattach: at the start of this models's activation it may heal up to 2 damage and gain the following condition untill the end of the turn: Fragile +1. 1. In case the Necropunk, already suffered 2 damage of his total of 4 live, activates which ability goes first, Reattach or Fears given form? Izamu's armor +2: reduce all damage suffered by this model by +2 to a minimum of 1. 2. The way I read is that Fears given form damage is reduced by Izamu's armor from 3 to 1 damage? Thx. for the insight while I continue to find new things every time I rerere and re-read again the cards.
  25. I’m a bid confused on who is allowed to perform the push. Tuco’s (0) ability Disillusion says ‘Push target enemy model up to its Wk in any direction’. When I control Tuco, as far as I understand it, I’m allowed to decide where and how far to ‘push’ the enemy model. What throws me off is the ‘The Bloody Beauty’ trigger on Nekima which says ‘… or be pushed up to 5 inches in a direction of this model’s choice’. I’m assuming that in this case ‘this model’ refers to Nekima so Nekima’s controller can ‘push’ the enemy model. But why does it state 'this model's choice' specifically in the trigger text since my understanding is that Nekima’s controller would already do that anyway.
