  5. gonna go get something to eat with the wife. Might be a bit late to the game, but I'll be on.
  6. First update. Did the red inside the eye. This was a no-brainer. Next, I need to figure out what colors to do the rest of the base. I'm debating on,.. A) doing a grey on the circle just outside of the eye, and a rich blue on the rest of it,.. with maybe white letters for his name. -or- doing the blue in the circle just outside of the eye, black on the rest of it, with perhaps gold letters for the name. And then perhaps a lightning pattern going through the black, originating from the name as a center point. Just not sure yet. Anyways, here's the first update,... Still got a bit of painting and touch-up to do, but it's starting to bring the shape of the base into perspective.
  7. Alright,.. I've decided on the next project. This is a 1/8 scale male model, which makes it about 10 inches tall when complete. (Yes, this is the same height as the fairy at 1/7 scale, but that's because men are typically about a head-height taller then women. So then, when it gets scaled down, a 1/7 scale woman, and 1/8 scale man, both end up being about 10 inches tall) This particular model is an anime character named "Kakashi Hatake" from a popular anime series called Naruto. So then, a question springs to mind on how exactly to paint it. Should I try to "bring the character to life" by doing a more life-like paint job?,.. or should I try to keep the "cell-shaded" feel of an anime cartoon by black-lining the model where possible, to make it seem like it's been "drawn" by a pen? I think I'm leaning toward black-lining. As for the rest of the paint, this one should be easy. I don't have to choose colors, as the colors that he needs to be have already been decided for me. Normally, I don't paint anything "like it looks on the box". It's just a matter of principle for me. However,.. in this case,.. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't make him who he is. Plus,.. the anime fans out there would probably hunt me down and hang me from a tree if I presented them with a pink kakashi *grin* Anyways,.. here's the first photo of the base. At this point, I've already sanded and filled and primered and such. Next up, a bit of paint of course!!!
  8. Mako>> not yet. I think I'm gonna start the base for the next one today though. And thanks. *grin* bow>> emails??? I have emails?? k,... gimme a sec,.. ---------- Post added at 11:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:34 AM ---------- Yay for maps!!!
  9. I actually have a couple more kits lying around. One is a female elf mage, and the other is a male anime character. I'm leaning towards doing the male first. That's right, no sexism in this thread *grin*,.... the boys get their time is the spotlight too!!! It can't all be scantily clad women all the time. That just wouldn't be fair. ---------- Post added at 08:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:13 AM ---------- Unless everyone has a preference? Should I put it to a vote? What do you guys think?
  10. Alright,.. bed time for me. Have a good evening all.

Might be why it's so quiet here tonight
  12. well,.. if you ever feel like it, I can walk you through the steps.
  13. actually,.. step one,.. thin your paint,.. a lot. Next, regulate your airflow of your brush to get the desired thickness of line. (this is usually done by adjusting the needle with a threaded turn screw at the back of the brush.) I usually work with a pencil line when holding about an inch or two from the surface. If I need larger areas done, I simply pull the brush a bit further away for a wider spray pattern. Though this usually requires doing more passes to achieve the color,.. but I don't have to keep adjusting the needle this way. ---------- Post added at 09:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:04 PM ---------- then it's just a matter of whatever color you are going to choose to work with.
  14. *tries to push it like a new drug,...* peer pressure,... peer pressure,.....c'mon,.... be part of the in-crowd,.. you'll be cool if you do,...
  15. But they're so pretty,... *holds one up*,.. look,... shiny,...!!!
  16. who,.. me?? or you?? *grin* ---------- Post added at 08:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:37 PM ---------- and then there's the question of how to paint him. Go for a more realistic look and try to "bring him to life". Or go with some heavy black-lining, to try to keep that "cell-shaded anime" feel to it???
  17. I have another couple of kits to do yet. One is a female elf mage,.. and the other is a male anime character. Just trying to decide which to do first. I'm leaning towards the male character first,...
