The Viks aren't the only glass cannons, Sonnia Criid is also quite frail, but she can also reduce a crew to cinders in a single activation.
  2. Unless they changed First Blood when I wasn't looking, -THE VIKS PLAYER- has to kill the first two models to get those VP.
  3. First blood is actually a pretty bad choice, here's why: if the enemy takes any cheap models that they don't care about sacrificing, they will gladly kill them to deny you 2 VP. Desperate mercenaries come to mind. Bodyguard isn't so hot on the Viks themselves, Von Schill on the other hand is a lot tougher. I typically take Assassinate and Kill protoge, since both are easy to accomplish with the Viks.

If you switch out Misaki for a Ronin, I wouldn't bother with switching out the specialist. Von Schill is also good for "OUR KILL!"ing your way across the board.
  5. I think this will be Dead Heat. I've yet to work out the details with everyone involved, that will happen later today. Sunday, June 24th, 2012- July 14th, 2012 I also have a Demo happening Saturday the 30th June, 2012 4-6pm, picking up again at 7-9pm. Finally, I have a tournament Saturday July 14th. 4pm-10pm estimated, I'm not sure how many breaks we are going to take, but I know dinner is in there somewhere. All of it happening here: New World Games and Comics 4435 SE 29th, Del City, OK. Edit: I broke something, but don't have the time to fix it right now. I'll deal with it later.
  6. I tend to run them with Freikorps, gives them access to things they can't normally get: Viks Von Schill Freikorps Librarian Student of Conflict 6 SS Cache The student is there for the Librarian, once they get into a good position the student gives the Librarian fast.
  7. He's got a big gun, 10 wounds, armor 1, magic resistance 1, nimble, instinctual, slow to die, and use soul stone. He's not broken, but he is very powerful, and everyone can take him. Plus, he's got a fantastic mustache.
  8. William Johnson BlueStar86 30SS Tournament May 27th 2012 New World Games and Comics 4435 SE 29th, Del City, OK 73115 Estimated 20SS 5$ entry fee, prizes will be store credit.
  9. I wouldn't try killing Taelor, unless I was playing the Ortegas, because standing next to Taelor is hazardous. Think of it as sticking your face in a meat grinder. Plus she's very well-defended against WP-based shenanigans.
  10. To be fair, I've never successfully used it, the intention was there, but typically the Viks don't die, or they die simultaneously, because they don't want them coming back.
  11. I never noticed that. How could I have missed that after like 6 months of playing them? Blargh!
  12. The Student is the one who casts "Another one" in my design.
  13. I have a few ways of using the student. One way is to have him run alongside Taelor, he makes her fast just as or just before she gets into combat. Another way is to have a ronin sitting in the back as a backup Vik for when one of them die.
  14. If there was a way of getting the student of conflict to keep up with the Viks he'd be better. I've found that it's incredibly easy to play the Viks too aggressively, having patience, and waiting for everyone else to catch up is often the better strategy.
  15. The Freikorps is probably good to use, they all have stubborn. Taelor has a ridiculous WP, CB, and hits like a truck. Sue can buff your WP, but won't work with Von Schill.
  16. I always bring Taelor, having a high wound, high WP, high damage model, who ignores armor, and can push me around the field is simply too useful. I bring a Ronin and a Student of conflict if I'm concerned about my opponent getting a chance to kill one of my Viks. Otherwise, I also stick with the Freikorps. The other purpose of the Student is to let me get Taelor into combat a turn sooner.
  17. If he actually hit hard, but he'd need something like 3/4/6 or more for his cost.
  18. I'm running a demo this Friday, April 20th, 2012 4pm-6pm at New World Games and Comics 4435 SE 29th, Del City, OK 73115 I'm running another Demo Wednesday, April 25th, 2012 5pm-9pm at Games HQ 1620 Southwest 89th St # J, Oklahoma City, OK
  19. Johan is only considered subpar because there's an obviously better model than him in the same box: Taelor. That said, your crew has a ton of melee, so bring the Gunslinger.
  20. Frankly, I'd be more worried about having both Viks there than their Avatar, they've got more wounds, more actions, and they aren't killing themselves by standing there. Sure their weapon does less damage.... until you cast Sisters in Battle: Fury. There is one exception to this: when you are dealing with large numbers of melee-based opponents, like when Nicodem starts a zombie apocalypse, their (0) action that lets them stb anyone moving toward them makes such problems less of one.
  21. I don't mean to be rude, but you are the one who responded to it.
  22. Get some of the other mercenaries. Taelor is a popular choice. Misaki is entertaining, if a little overcosted. Lazarus will be potent when he is released. Etc.
  23. I don't really like Killjoy all that much, sure he works well with the desperate mercs, but he's still ridiculously expensive. You can buy upwards of 3 minions for the price of him. Depends on what you were needing, when facing things with armor, or lots of numbers, I'd use the specialist, when dealing with more elite units, or someone who makes use of a lot of terrain, I'd use the trapper.
