  1. Warhammer 40K I've "played" for over ten years now. Really, I don't get to play all that much, especially now at college since there isn't much of a community. I have quite a few orks and some space marines. Warhammer Fantasy BattleNever played, but I have some Wood Elves sitting in a box at my parents' house. MalifauxNever played, but I do have a Seamus and Lady J crew in need of paint and decent basing. I would like to try Warmahordes and some other games. As far as board games, there are a few, but like others have said, Arkham Horror is my favorite. I play and run D&D games from time to time. Getting ready to help a friend run a 3.5 campaign. Play MtG from time to time, though it's been ages since I built a new deck and as such the game has gotten stale for me.
  2. The only way to get rid of temptation is to give in to it.
  3. Well, I appreciate further input, but what I've ordered is: Lady J Box Set Guild Austringer Executioner Burgundy Fate Deck Redchapel Gang Set Samurai Punk Zombies Bette Noir Convict Gunslinger Green Fate Deck As of right now, it appears that my order has been delayed for some reason, so I'm not quite sure when it will be arriving. I kind of wish I had gotten the basing accessories for all of them. Models just look much better with a good base. Let me know if you have any basing advice.
  4. I will certainly be asking lots of questions and posting pictures of my models as I paint them. Given the inexpensiveness of the rules manual, I will probably pick it up before too long. The website I like to order stuff from has terra clips listed to ship in May, so if that is indeed true, I will order the rules manual along with 2 boxes of the streets of Malifaux. I haven't had a chance to play any demo games myself, so I will be learning the game as I go. I've been reading just about everything I can get my hands on and watching videos on youtube. I feel like I have a general understanding of how the game works and I'm sure when I'm back home over the Summer, I will be able to get help from the playing community in my local game shop. I am already very appreciative of the direction and advice I've received so far, so thanks all for that.
  5. Well, I went to the sale on Friday night and got the rule book and Rising powers, they didn't have any of the models I wanted, so I ordered them online along with a couple of fate decks. Here is what I ordered: Redchapel Gang Boxed Set Necropunks Bette Noir Convict Gunslinger Green Fate Deck Death Marshals Boxed Set Guild Austringer The Executioner Burgundy Fate Deck Everything should be arriving sometime this week. I'm excited.
  6. So tomorrow night, in celebration of April Fool's Day, a game shop in my hometown is having a sale where everything in the store is at least 20% off. I figured this would be the perfect time to get into Malifaux. I called ahead to make sure they stock Malifaux, but I am under the impression they only have boxed sets at the moment. My plan is to get the rulebook and possibly Rising Powers, a fate deck or two (love the artwork), and a boxed set or two. I'd like to be able to get two sets so I can teach my friends at school how to play and hopefully get them hooked. Luckily, my girlfriend (who lives back home, I spend most of my time 3 hours away at college), is also planning on getting into Malifaux. Should I go ahead and invest in Rising Powers? If my shop has it, I want to get the Lady Justice set for myself. The whole blind swords(wo)man thing really does it for me. What models should I get to round out her crew? If I am going to get a second boxed set so I can try teaching other people, what would you guys recommend? I honestly love all the models and cannot even begin to decide. I was thinking that maybe for the sake of having a good example of opposing forces, something from the Resurrectionists would be a good choice. Let me know what you guys think, I appreciate the help.
  7. I just cannot get over how wonderful this looks. I can't believe I haven't stumbled across this type of terrain before. If I had when I started wargaming, I would have entire cities by now. This is so much better than buying plastic and resin kits. I can't wait to get started.
  8. Greetings all! I am from St. Peters, Missouri (about half an hour west of St. Louis) and am currently attending school at Truman State University as a history major. For those of you who don't know, Truman State is in the rural community of Kirksville, MO which is sadly lacking a local gaming store. However, I will be returning home this weekend (April 1st, 2011) for a moonlight sale at my local shop where everything is at least 20% off. I called ahead to make sure the stock Malifaux and look forward to making my first purchases. I am a long time player of another tabletop game and have been wanting to expand into a skirmish game so I don't have to spend as much money on models or as much time painting literally hordes of them. What draws me to Malifaux most are the fantastic miniatures and the overall theme of the game. My girlfriend is very much into the steampunk and horror genres, so I'm hoping she'll start with me. I was wondering what the best way to get started with the game would be since I won't really have the chance to have people teach me the game. My hope is that I will be able to purchase the rulebooks and enough models for two players to play a game. Really, any suggestions that could be made would be greatly appreciated.
