  1. Do models generating auras benefit from them? I was playing yesterday with the Viks and was informed by my opponent that since Ashes Vik was generating the 'The setting Sun' aura while within 2" of Viktoria of Blood, she didn't get the +1 defense also. Is this true?

Absolutely not, with Viks being the 0 cache having, soulstone-sucking B%$#*S that they are your 8SSish models are going to have to be able to output some damge (or heal it, in the Librarian's case). If a Viks player wastes too many points in models that are all flash and no bang they will not be able to cripple it in the way they need to to win a match.
  3. The Misaki/ten thunders companion combo with the viks is awesome IMO.The fact that you have access to an extremely fast group of models with great defense and triggers to companion together to take out dangerous threats that a ronin could not kill singlehandedly (Killjoys, Executioners, etc.) leaves a whole lot of wiggle room for the Viks to get in choice whirlwinds and (hopefully the model releases soon) pull off their avatar while an opponent tries to deal with all of them. I love this combo so much at 35 stones I'll run something like: 3x ten thunders bros: 15 misaki: 7 avatar viks: 2 2x desperate mercs: 4 cache: 7 at higher points I'll start adding ronin.

If running a crew with guild hounds, a drill sergeant,a guard captain and some guardsmen after activating the master and companioning with the above models, if the guard captain activates and uses (0) Captain to activate a guardsman would A: the guardsman activate immediately after the captain then the companion chain continues; B: the guardsman's activation would cancel the companion chain and the unactivated models with companion would not be able to activate simultaneously or; C: all of the models with companion would activate then the guardsman that got (0) Captain'd would activate. Clarification much appreciated!
  5. A couple of things. First, when you're totalling up guild hound points, remember that for every two you take to add one SS to your pool, so 3 hounds is actually 8 stones and four hounds is actually 10 stones. I've found list building with henchmen a little trickier then normal masters because they can't exceed their henchman stat for starting stones so you have to hit whatever size the fight is right on the head.
  6. When running two guard captains I found the lawyer kinda superfluous, Censure was good, but I think the lawyer will really start to shine when the hounds release. He can make three of them hard to wound 2 before they run half way down the field to engage whatever. I was wondering about red tape, since it's worded a little funny. Does he get fate ++ when focusing or channeling or is it the the model targetting him?
  7. I played my first game with Lucius and have to say I was extremely impressed. Ran two guard captains, a drill sergeant, 3 guards and a lawyer at 40ss (realized later that Lucius soulstone pool could not exceed 4, so I was running at 8) against A Lylth list (who normally gives me fits). I used reinforcements and issue command to get the captains up front and when the enemy closed with me I would activate one captain, fire off a couple menaces, then use that captain to activate the other on who would either menace or start shooting, then use that captain to activate the drill sergeant who would drop firiing range then companion in to Lucius who could start issuing commands to keep shooting stuff (with a possible reactivate). It's an alpha strike that also locks your opponents where they are for as many rounds as you can keep the initiative (which is the only thing you need soulstones for, so four is pretty acceptable). Can't wait for Guild hounds so Lucius has fodder for reactivating or to go handle objectives while the enemy's locked down.
  8. Very nice models. Papa Loco looks so... happy. Scary-happy. Eyes are tough to paint and a little trick I learned is that if you paint the eyes first, then paint the rest of the face you can get some awesome results. You don't have to be too neat and do them over until you get the pupils just right without having to worry about screwing up the rest of the face, because you'll just be painting over it anyways.

It seems between all of the guild hounds companion(guildhound), companion (master), and the Guard captains' (0) captain ability and the Austringers deliver orders that the Ortegas aren't the only guild crew around with a nasty alpha strike anymore. I'll be running two captains, but I think I'll mod one of them to be holding a turkey leg, for the sake of distinction.
  10. I think tit would be pretty cool if they approached a Malifaux movie like they did with Sin City (Quentin Tarentino and Alex Rodrgiuez could probably do a pretty sweet Guild arc).
  11. I couldn't help but feel that all the Executioners at my LGS were clones of eachother, so when I painted mine up I took a little bit of a different take on the model. feedback and critiques appreciated.
  12. With the Librarian and desperate mercs (possibly) providing healing flips to the Viks, I don't think they'd use up SS as fast as normal. 6 SS might be enough
  13. So I was playing with Ryle the first time last Sunday and created a damage chain that my opponent thought was against the rules. Anyways, here's what happened; On the attack Ryle triggers fully automatic, then flips red joker for damage for a total of four damage flips -original attack -fullyautomatic trigger (+1) -Red Joker (+1) -Gatling Gun special for severe damage (+1) for four flips. I'm assuming that any extra damage flips do not come from the weapon so can not trigger additional gatling gun special flips, otherwise I think it would have been five or six flips. However, this was enough enough to smash Ryles' target and send my opponent in to fits, but is it legit?
  14. The back of the cloak is fantastic! I struggle to make color changes as subtle as that.
