I thought they said no more pre-release sales? Or was Gencon the exception that proves the rule??

Gencon was not part of that arrangement. Gencon is every game manufacturer's big game release push. There is no way Wyrd could not do pre-release at GenCon and survive.

Wyrd used to have a few pre-release items at every online sale event they held (gencon, Easter, blackfriday/thanksgiving/birthday/holiday event) after hearing that distributors and store were not happy about that, Wyrd decided to limit pre-releases to gencon only and now do LE pieces for Easter and blackfriday/etc.

  2. Pg. 286 of the Core Rulebook Fatemaster Characters and Triggers callout box.

"When a Fatemaster character is involved in a duel with a Fated character, the Fatemaster character can use any suits associated with its Acting Value as well as any suits in the Fated's final duel total to declare its Triggers. "

  3. I know I keep shilling Realm Works. But this is an area of Fatemaster ing where it and Obsidian Portal really shine. With pre campaign planning, you can have all your notes, scenes with full descriptions and photos loaded up into your program of choice and then just click a button to reveal it to the players.

I picked up Campaign Cartographer when the Bu dle of Holding came around and use it for both quick and elaborate maps and dungeon layouts. I load the map into Realm Works and set up the Fog of War so I can reveal things as the players wander through. Realm Works has a nice Player Screen feature which allows me to add any content, including the maps to a 2nd screen. So I can have that screen facing the players and they can't see any of my notes. I can then move photos of npc's or images that reflect the environment well. A good soundtrack can be linked in the Realm Works Sections. So if I find a good Steampunk tavern song, I can just add the link to my tavern locations and hit play when the characters enter. The more senses I can the players with, the better.

  4. Mostly our group is pretty good about gathering on the scheduled day each week. If we have a period where too many are going to be missing (the holidays), we might try to play online. But we usually don't have a gap of more than a week.

When it does happen I use a mix of Obsidian portal for the players' journals, Realm Works for my world structure and notes and a camera over my tabletop for minis. I have been spending a lot of time on Realm Works organizing the Campaign. But the time spent definitely makes my life easier. I hope to wrap up the campaign input for the next few campaigns soon and move to Campaign Cartographer to start fleshing out the maps of Malifaux City and the other major landmarks to give me some adventure graphics.

  5. My answer to long arms is more targets. If the character/party has advanced that much, most likely s/he had made a name for themselves. Smart npc's will get word that the character/party is on their tail and have more support to deal with them. A couple of hand to hand thugs in hiding can jump the player and stop the long arms nonsense for at least a turn.

If they took out a big bad, maybe a Shaman with healing or a necromancer was hired. Big bad jumps up and pays the character a visit while s/he is distracted with the hand to hand thugs.

  6. If the players have played Malifaux, it should be okay. But if they haven't, you aren't teaching them all the rules until the Fated arrive. I am not sure that is necessary. You could use pregen and give them a single card Fate. When the entire group achieves their fate, Malifaux either gives them the opportunity to walk a different path or expands their Fates with a regular fate draw and adjust their current character appropriately if they like the one the have.

  7. We had 6 players for a while. It may slow things down if people aren't paying attention during the game. But if everyone follow the game table contract and actual participates when they show up, it is fine. Just keep your players off their phones.

  8. History from Malifaux. Where do the Neverborn come from. Where do the Fae come from? the Gibbering horde? What makes the different "species" happen? Expansion of the Malifaux world map. Where are the oceans in Malifaux that the Gibbering Hordes spilled from?

How does it work with the Misses and the Waldoscape? I just add them to the cart and won't be charged for them, or do I fill the cart with everything else and write a note in the comments?
Just to be sure before I place my giant order🙈

For the free model choices a pop up window appear every time you reach a tier. For the free Waldo, there is a checkbox before you checkout that states he will be automatically added to your shipping box.

There's proof that it has existed:  https://www.nobleknight.com/P/2147678110/Coryphee-Duet-Translucent-Red-Variant-1

Some time in 2017, it looks like.

Edit:  And one of the images that shows up for image search for "translucent red coryphee" is a thumbnail for one of the FLGS promos.  But I can't get a readable version of the image to try to figure out when it was offered.

Yep. I believe it was a store promo if I recall correctly.

So Silent Knight will have a Silent Knight card of course, BUT. Will he come with 2 Blood Sacrifice cards with the Silent Knight on them instead of Killjoy?

They have not in the past. Alt card usually have the alt Name on the front and the Counts As name on the back. All upgrades have just had the Counts As names on them.

Thank you! I knew I had seen it before. That covers everything except for Brine and Bones, and Miss Feasance.

Brine and bones was released at GenCon this year for $75. Miss Feasance was a free with purchase tier model only at GenCon this year. So, we won't know what the price to purchase is until we know.

I think Reva and her crew were released at Gen Con in 2016.

Yep.  However that was also the last year the Wyrd did pre-releases for Black Friday and Easter as they had talked to a number of disgruntled distributors and stores and changed policy to only sell pre-releases at GenCon. So Reva did sell as a pre-release that year for Black Friday as well.

But, they no longer do pre-releases outside of GenCon. So expectations for pre-releases are not going to be rewarded.

  14. 1) there are 2 possible answers: a) it was an old set of data that never got update. b) Brett has some upgrades that aren't mentioned. Either way, it is an example and isn't meant to be taken as precident.

    2) right. It has no armor value. So does not lower defense.

    3) yeah there is a newer character sheet in the resources section of the website I believe.

    4) root skills don't have to be mental. Also, the game is written to be more about role playing than min/maxing. The character creation process is a storytelling aspect. For instance your character may have learned skills without being naturally gifted at them. The characters start out as slightly better than a common person so while they may not be super fast super heavy hitting combat machines, they can be the equivalent of someone who has had some training like a rookie cop or a college graduate. Not everyone had access to higher schooling back then. It actually does a good job of representing someone learning a little about a number of skills. Not to the point of savant in any of them. But more than common knowledge.

    5) initiative got left off the old edition sheets.
