  1. Here's a Pandora surprise for the day: I got trounced in a tournament today, but had such fun that I wouldn't have had it any other way. The Pandora surprise came during the third of three games. I was up against Perdita with Nino, The Judge, a Deathmarshal, Convict Gunslinger, and an Executioner. While trying to close the distance to my opponent, I lost Teddy [Trigger Happy Nino], Baby Kade, Candy, and a Ronin. This left Pandora all on her own, and though I had "killed" the Executioner once, his Slow To Die action that destroyed Candy gave him full life once again. I thought that I had nothing left to say but Pandora took over for me and single-handedly terrified the Executioner, killed him after he fled, damaged The Judge and a Deathmarshal with Pacify to push toward Nino, forced Nino into falling back, killed Nino, forced the Convict Gunslinger into falling back, then Killed the Convict Gunslinger. In the end Perdita shot Pandora to death, but I was so impressed with Pandora's performance that my loss went almost unnoticed [by me]. This game supported my thought that Pandora is not a back-line support master. Pandora does well when she's right out front. You have to put faith in her Expose Fears talent, and rely on it. I think that if you push the Sorrows into your targets, and pressure those targets with Pandora, you're headed in the right direction. Keep the other minions for the second wave; the clean-up and heal-up component. I didn't use Project Emotions at all during that last encounter. Instead, I used Trapped In Your Own Nightmare on the Executioner, and Pandora's Mental Anguish trigger. I love them both. I am no master tactician. These are just some of the thoughts mulling around in my mind. What do you Pandora players think? She's a tricky one but that's the appeal, no?
  2. Good observation, Lars de Grey. I thought about the student of conflict, too, for the very reasons you've given. His (all) Assist ability could be very useful for filling gaps as they become evident in a match. Giving any one of Pandora's typical minions [or Pandora herself] an extra action would be great fun in the right circumstance. My concern with the Student of Conflict is that his WK is only 4, and the Assist ability takes all of his actions. This could leave him behind and out of range to make himself useful once he starts using it. My guess is that you might get to use his Assist ability twice during the course of a typical game unless you diverted other resources to keeping him close [such as waiting for him with the other minions, or luring him along with Baby Kade]. If you start to divert other resources to keeping him in the fight, then the Student of Conflict isn't making anyone fast, he's just redirecting your action points from one model to another. I haven't tried the Student of Conflict yet. This is all speculation, so I'd love to hear from others who have tried him and can reflect on their observations. It would be pretty handy indeed to have any surviving Sorrows within 6" of the Student of Conflict count toward victory conditions with Combined Efforts. I think that the key to this totem is placement, positioning, and timing [i.e. : "wait for it......"]

    Woe is me...

I've been trying to figure these Sorrows out today, I mean "really" find their sweet spot. In the past I've only used them to a limited extent toward damage mitigation via Martyr, and WP duel damage augmentation with Emotional Stress and Melancholy. I think that Sorrows belong up front and personal with the opposing crew. All of their abilities require close proximity to the enemy. Given their modest defense and high card requirement to pull anything off with a good chance of success, I'd say that they might be best used with the expectation of getting them killed. If you can get one Sorrow to do 2 points of damage to the enemy and disrupt the other player a little [by attracting their attention to killing the sorrow], they've done their job. I used to get bummed out when a Sorrow died so easily before accomplishing anything at all. Maybe not directly accomplishing anything is their niche. Send them out front and into the enemy, cause as many WP duels as you can while they're around, and find comfort in the fact that they are insignificant when they die. If the opponent's attention is on a Sorrow, then it isn't on Candy, Pandora, or Kade. If their attention isn't on the Sorrow, it works as a light "Proximity DoT". I think that the recent rule revisions to Link, Siphon Magic, and Life Leech support this idea. A sorrow can now Life Leech multiple models if it can get into base contact with them. If multiple Sorrows gang up on a model, you can Siphon Magic to use the same spell more than once -and- Siphon Magic can now be used on the first turn of the game [this could be handy for casting Dementia on Pandora to get her out of the gate faster]. With the change to Link, an opponent might be more inclined to change his activation order to get a model out of base contact with a Sorrow before the Sorrow has a chance to Leech Life. It's like a psychological "Incite". A free action. An opponent disruptor. You can also take disengaging strikes against them when they try to move away. While the strike does no damage, the Sorrow's Misery Loves Company trigger could force them to discard a control card while holding the model in place and denying them an action point. Sounds like Crowd Control... Sorrows don't live long, but they do help your significant models live longer. Toss them out there, keep your distance from them where is used and remember that they can't help you toward your strategy or schemes anyway. -I always thought of Sorrows as a bunch of balloons that Candy and Kade carried into a fight to confuse the enemy...
  4. I don't have a lot of sculpting experience, but I've been working with a lot of green stuff lately and found that olive oil helps immensely. I use it when I mix the two parts together initially, and I use it to lubricate my tools as I work. In addition, I let the green stuff sit for about 7 minutes after mixing before I try anything with it at all. If I try to work it before that time has passed, it's just too soft for acceptable results.
  5. Has anyone used the Doppelganger to mimic Pandora's "Use Soulstones" ability? I haven't had a chance to try it just yet, but it seems like it could increase the utility of the Doppelganger even further...
  6. I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the details. I'm still not very savvy with online business but I'm learning.
  7. I had a very similar experience. The page for entering credit information is not secure. It made me very nervous so I put my ordering plans on hold. I tried again a couple of days later and had the same problem. I would feel much better about ordering online if the page was secure... That said, I did put an order through. You guys gave a quick turnaround and everything was just right. I specifically requested a "pointing sorrow" stat card, and the online store staff did not disappoint. Thanks for your attention to detail and speedy delivery!
