  1. In the games I've used Raphael he is usually dead turn 3. I've had Francois take out Lady J and the Viktorias with his dumb luck trigger always getting off, and he also has a 10" melee threat. It's not that I don't like Raphael, and I painted his model awesome, I just can't seem to get good use out of him. And how is he faster than Francois? Yes he gets to reckless for free after he has been damaged, but in my experience it's usually too late by then. Just my thoughts.
  2. The best advantage to a Som'er lead crew with Ophelia as a Henchman to me, is the ability to drop the cards out of your opponents hand...and then blast them with the LaCroix kin!! Now your kin gremlins hit even harder!! 27ss/30ss: 3ss (5ss if I don't take a scheme.) Som'er Ophelia Rami Pere 2 Bayou Gremlins 1 Mosquito 1 Young LaCriox I'm not really a fan of the pigs for competitive play, but they are awesome for screw around games!! I may consider taking out 1 Gremlin and the Young 'Un to add a Slop Hauler. 35ss games seem to be better for a Master/Henchman game, in 30's I've just been running Ophelia as my master. 32ss/30ss: 6ss (I never take more than 1 scheme with this list) Ophelia Rami or Raphael (depends on indoor our outdoor location) Pere Francois 3 Bayou Gremlins 3 Young LaCroix Slop Hauler
  3. So I tried out the Pere/Pigapult combo against my friend last night. Much to my, and my friends surprise, I made the flip to save Pere from the initial death. It would have been a much greater effect, had he not used Perditas Quick Draw, which negated "Ka-blooey!" from going off after I cast "Oopsie!". I put 6pts into Nino, 2pts into Perdita and he managed to save his Austringer on a lucky flip. It happened turn 1, so if not for Perdita it would have been game changing. Fun little trick...which my friend was rooting me on the entire time. Pegapult...ftw.
  4. Gremlins will have a problem with Neverborn crew's that spam wp duels, that's the rock to our scissor. Kirai and her spirits that can target wp instead of defense is also bad news. I think Pere is the our ace in the whole for a lot of games. If used right he can take out half of the enemy crew in one shot.
  5. From my experience playing Ophelia...take 3 Young LaCroix!! They are really good. I decimated my shops henchman by just casting "Right Between the Eyes" every chance I could with them. They are also a pain in the ass to target with ranged spells/strikes, especially in cover. Remember, you also have a pretty sick alpha strike. If done correctly it's on par with the Ortega's. For a fight with the Dreamer, I have no experience there. No one at my local shop plays him...at least not yet. Play to your strategy and keep your distance...LaCroix Gremlins put out crazy ranged damage. As far as tricks, I posted a thread that has some fun/effective tricks with the LaCroix Gremlins. Sorry I couldn't help you a little more with specific anti-Dreamer info.
  6. Yeah, the Young 'Uns are better in every way than the Bayou Gremlins. They are tiny which makes them hard to hit with ranged, they are a better shot, and can cast her spells. Bayou Gremlins are pretty much their to claim objectives.
  7. Yeah, that'd be awesome. I guess I didn't look hard enough in the Gremlins Tactics thread. I just kind of glanced at it and thought it was all Som'er tricks. By all means, link the thread...we Gremlin players need to share the love!!!
  8. Anyone have any cool/fun tactics involving the LaCroix Gremlins? These are the 3 that I've come up with, at least the non-subtle ones... Pere Shot Gun of Flaming Death: This one involves Ophelia, Pere, and a Bayou Gremlin. Declare that Ophelia and Pere will companion this action. Take a walk action with Ophelia, and make sure you are 8" away from Pere. Use her "Ooh, a Girl" for a (0) to move Pere into base contact with her. Move her back and finish her action doing what ever you'd like. Activate Pere now. Take 2 Walk actions, then use a Reckless to cast "Oopsie!". Having a high card for this is worth it, because it will force your opponent to make decisions on which models to save, if they even can. That's an 24" threat with Pere!! He should have 1 wound remaining after the Reckless and "Oopsie!", if he has not taken damage yet. After your opponent has been hurt pretty bad, after their activation, if they haven't taken whats left of Pere out, use a Bayou Gremlin to finish him off, setting off "Ka-blooey!" for another 3" pulse for 4 more damage. That's 9 damage total in a 3" bubble. I use this trick to cripple my opponents main line, or take out their big heavy hitter. You also have to keep Pere behind your line out of harms way until the time is right. I've gotten back 15pts worth of models by sacrificing Pere...who is only 5pts. Slop Hauler Sloppy Seconds Sling Shot: Similar trick to the first, using a Slop Hauler. This is a nice trick for an alpha strike (companion the necessary Kin) to take out a heavy hitter, especially a model with a high defense. Ophelia goes first again, moving up followed by using "Ooh a Girl" on the Slop Hauler to position the hauler. Make sure you move Ophelia about 6" away of the enemy model before using "Ooh a Girl" on the Hauler to move him into base with Ohpelia. Then do "Family Tree" on the Hauler to let him activate after Ophelia. Take a shot or cast a spell, with the second action, and then reckless to move her back (or shoot again!"). The Hauler goes next and walks up to within 3" of the enemy model, then uses a reckless to do "Slop Spray" (2). This will reduce the enemy models defense to 4...with no way to resist!! With the Hauler finished, go nuts with the rest of your Kin and shoot the snot out of em!! I haven't tried this one yet, but I have high hopes for it!! I've also thought of using Pere and a Pigapult. Launch Pere with the Pigapult to where you can cause some damage. If Pere fails the defense duel he dies...and does 4 damage within 3"...not bad for being able to send him up to 24" and keeping in mind his goal is pretty much suicide anyway (IMO). If he does survive the impact, he is free to cast "Oopsie" once, and make 2 Breath fire strikes...which would end up killing him, activating "Ka-blooey". The potential damage that can be done at such long range is hideous. This can also be done turn 1 if timed right doing heavy damage so early in the game...which is just unfair. I haven't tried this yet, but look forward seeing its results. It also needs a silly name, any suggestions?
  9. Very nice! What did you use for the green?
  10. I've been playing the Gremlins since November, roughly when the game was introduced to my local gaming store. We got the new book and the Ophelia box set in last week and I finally got a chance to use it last night against our "Henchman", who is also one of our top players. He uses the Ortega's. In my experience against him with just Som'er and company I've never been able to beat him. I've had so much trouble...until now. Last night I used Som'er, 3 Gremlins, 2 Skeeters, Ophelia, Rami, and Francios. He used Perditta, Francisco, Santiago, Nino, and a Peacekeeper. Ophelia and Rami took out the Peacekeeper turn 2!! By turn 6 it was just Som'er and Perditta left on the table. I lost, but the fact of the matter is Ophelia and her box set make the Gremlins highly competitive. With Dumb Luck you can dish out a ton of damage and Som'er being able to heal every one it becomes rape train. I can imagine with the Slop Hauler it can become even better!!
  11. I've been playing the Gremlins for a little bit now, and I have the disagree with you guys. From the experience at my local game shop, I've been doing really well with So'mer. He has two devastating spells in "Gremlins Luck", and "Pull My Finger". "Gremlins Luck" gives you ultimate hand control, which is huge in this game. Combined with the Mosquito's "Larva" all action, you can take advantage of "Survival of the Fittest" which allows you to draw 2 cards when a Gremlin is killed or sacrificed with in 6" of So'mer of the Hog Whisperer. You can have 10 cards while your enemy has none! Now "Pull My Finger" is just a pain in the ass spell (pun intended). So'mer can cast it and so can the skeeters. Draw the enemy close to you and swarm em'. If you have 4 Skeeters out and So'mer, you have the potential to dish out 14 damage to targets within a 6" bubble! When Lilith gets close to So'mer...fart on her face and watch her choke to her death, trust me I've done it before! Remember, "Pull My Finger" and "Gremlins Luck" cannot be resisted which makes them even better. The Gremlins are short changed compared to the rest of the factions...but if you use their tricks and forget about playing them straight up they can be very, very effective in almost any scenario.
