  1. I made this thing Photobucket decided to blow it up for some reason. It supposed to print at 5x3. Then I sleeve each half and track it with a dry erase. Its been really handy.
  2. Are you sure on that? Just the other day I was told quite staunchly by some guys who have been playing longer than me, that you couldn't do that. In this case it was a summoned Giant mosquito trying to use Larva on the turn he was brought in. I'd check for myself but just last night I lent my book to a friend.
  3. So with exhume off the table I have to agree Mortimer seems staunchly on the underwhelming side. Fresh meat seems to be his most powerful ability by far, but Morty's cost would mean I would only think about using it in a pretty high points level game. Even then he's only Wk 4 so and there's no telling if he'll be where you want most of your force to go. Although I guess if Nicodem's going to be in the back field summoning things he could get them up a lot faster.
  4. My Gremlins pretty much exist solely to keep my summoning factory going or maybe to use a ram to cheat dumb luck off y'all watch this attacks(which by the way you should only do if you are really sure your opponent won't be cheating up any defence flips or you might take out half your own force). While focused shots help tremendously, Gremlin shooting is still such a liability I often end up charging with them. At that point you'd be better off if they were piglets unless they have a ram to cheat dumb luck.. And since the pigs and Skeeters usually end up doing 75-90% of the damage anyway I always want more of them unless I'm down to only 2 gremlins or so. I always try to keep 2 gremlins safe to keep my summoning going.
  5. Yeah that definitely crossed my mind. But unlike some of the other masters for whom totems are so immensely helpful that they are auto-includes, I believe Levvy enters the field with a Hollow Waif in play. So assuming I am recalling his rules correctly, if you field Levvy you are fielding at least one Hollow Waif regardless. Thats why I think any starter for him would have to include them. Also I'm pretty sure the waifs aren't technically totems. Also great news about the Abominations. More sculpts is always better.
  6. Now that it looks certain that the waifs will come 2 per blister I think we will definitely see both of them in any future Lev. boxed set. So I guess it depends how the abominations will be packaged. If they do it like the canine remains with 2 packs of 2 I would imagine it would be Leveticus, 2 waifs, 2 abominations, and Alyce. But I think its more likely we will see abominations in one pack of 3. So since I can't imagine a box with seven minis in it I'm gonna go with Lev., Alyce, 2 waifs and an engine. Lev., 2 waifs, and 3 abominations would only be 9 pts after all.
  7. Not at all what I was expecting but beautiful sculpts nonetheless. I think I'll start painting my Leve force as soon as I can get my hands on these poor suffering ladies. I've already got the Mechanithralls to proxy as Steam Punk Abominations so these were the last piece so to speak. Think I'll pre-order them tonight.
  8. Am I the only one who's brain compels him to try to visualize what a Flesh Construct miraculously stitched together from a single dissected Canine Remains would look like? Its a very bizarre and unsettling picture.
  9. Reminds me of my avatar. Whats not to like? Excellent work.
  10. I think the most important thing to think about when considering whether or not this game is balanced is that you play for objectives. Overall every master has some fantastic strengths and weaknesses depending on scenario. My current faction of choice, Gremlins, can have a really tough time with slaughter especially against certain masters. But on reconnoiter they can be almost unbeatable. Also consider that you build your crew after you determine your schemes and strategies so you get to choose your tools to deal with the task at hand. I think this emphasis on objectives over the more traditional "bring an army, kill 'em all" helps Malifaux's game balance tremendously. It also makes playing it repeatedly with the same selection of minis a lot more diverse and rewarding. No master or crew will have equal odds of winning in every situation, but that's what makes it cool and keeps it interesting.
  11. right... the faq... the document that contains answers to frequently asked questions. Oops. I forget how new this game is. Somehow I got the impression that the discussion I linked was newer than the faq. But at any rate, thats just one more reason to love Hamelin. A giant mosquito could be really helpful to the right master with its speed and maneuverability combined with arcane extension. Just a thought. His low Ca is painfully apparent though. I'd also been thinking Hamelin could be fun with Seamus and his ladies with them using Lure while standing near a table edge. Then Hamelin could finish the job. Is there a totem that could help Seamus with casting flips so he can summon Belles more easily? I'll have to check when I get home.
  12. While it may change in the future this statement is enough to keep me from buying any out of faction totems to use with Hamelin and growing influence. There's more bad news in the thread I lifted the quote from. The errata on Hamelin doesn't say anything about growing influence either. There definitely would be a lot of potential for crazy combos with out of faction totems if you could though.
  13. Sadly Hamelin can't give a master access to any out of faction totems. But Obey could be great for bunching up guys under templates. The Lilith idea is also very cool.
  14. I thought this might be a fun topic to discuss. Like the title says: you are starting a new crew completely from scratch, and your only imperative is that Hamelin be included. What master has the most to give him? Or which master can he give the most too? Is there a faction that can benefit most from having a ht 1 model from another faction? I like the thought of Viktorias because Hamelin already has some good synergy with them and some other mercs. Have Hamelin bring along candy for her Sweets to get some otherwise unavailable healing flips. But that would mean you are shelling out a lot for support models even if you are paying 1 less point for Hamelin. Not that healing is all candy's good for. Cade could work too but then no cool Teddy swaps. Throw a student of conflict in there for an extra piper's lure casting. But there have to be plenty of other great ideas. Anyone have any good ones?
  15. I've been participating in the TGN Battle challenge and already posted these guys there. I still want to add another layer of water effects, so I haven't cleaned up the edges of the bases yet where I got some on. I really liked the look of the Gremlins so I didn't feel the need to modify them too much, other than to make fewer duplicates. It was a lot of fun working on these guys. The forearms are all greenstuffed with plasticard knives. Definitely the most intricate greenstuff work I've done. He got the last one's gun. Drilled out the telescope and the banjo was a perfect fit. Figured it would be easier to turn the telescope stub into an eye patch than bore it out and sculpt a whole new eye. Yes it is a coonskin cap. There is a tail on the other side.
  16. I really wish the Steampunk Abominations were in there. Leve needs all the pieces for him to get his own box set like all the other masters out there. I've almost finished painting all my Gremlins and I'm already in the market for another master.
  17. I've also got nothing but good things to say about miniature market. You're the first I've ever heard of to encounter a problem with them. Its bound to happen sooner or later. And since so many in here are singing the Warstore's praises, I feel compelled to say I've had the opposite experience with them. In my case it was always switching out a box for a blister, sometimes a blister of something unrelated to the missing box outside of they were both by the same manufacturer. They screwed up 2 of the 4 orders I've had with them, and never seemed particularly apologetic about it. I don't shop with them anymore. Just goes to show even the best of them screw up now and then. Fortunately my LGS stocks Malifaux now so its not an issue for me.
  18. Thanks a lot for this post. I just got my Gremlins in at the LGS and am eagerly looking forward to getting some games in. I did a lot of reading here before I chose my army and understood they'd be a tough group to master, but I'm a firm believer that you should always go with the army that you find the most interesting, not the one that you think has the strongest rules. For me the Gremlins' looks and character as well as their fascinatingly weird recycling dynamic were what sold me. So at any rate its nice to have all this compiled info to help me out. Little things like "don't buy too many skeeters... you can have one sack a Gremlin and then get another skeeter and two cards" are helpful pointers. And thats just one of the many subtleties you mentioned that had so far escaped me given how I currently have 0 games under my belt. Maybe some day soon I'll be back in here with some experiences of my own to add.
  19. Yup. Its the same HandsomeDan from the PP forums. As far as the origins of the name, I think Strongbad called Homestar runner Handsome Dan once like 7 years ago. If not its from some other silly cartoon. Any other Handsome Dan reference is unrelated. My name isn't even really Dan.
  20. Still haven't gotten in a game yet but I put in my Gremlin order at the LGS yesterday. I think I'm maybe player #6 locally. I bought the rule book to read on a plane and was too fascinated by the rules by the time the it landed to not play. Looking forward to getting my first game in soon.
