  2. Howdy guys, once again been a while, has been a full on week (fun and work) and doing final preparations for an achievement tourney I am running on Sunday. Played a game with Seamus last night and although I did well I feel I have moved on from him as a master and he will continue to sit in my demo case. I think I am finally going to give in and pick up Lynch.
  3. Tuesday (the 5th of March) sees Faux Pas rear its head again back at Outpost. This will be your last chance to sign up for Thunderstruck! the achievement tournament running at Outpost on the 10th which at the time of writing has four/five spots left. In addition preview copies of the achievements being used at Thunderstruck! will be making an appearance. Games will be having a focus on using achievements as alternate way to play and have some fun. Multiplayer games will also be running for those adventurous enough using the rules found in Wyrd Chronicles vol 4 (download here - http://www.malifaux.com/Downloads.php ) and as always I will be available to ask questions, demo games and generally chat about all things Malifaux
  4. The great thing about either totem is that they are cheap significant models for Hoffman as well. I have never not run him without a totem (and yes its always the toolkit). Mannequins are great with him plus if you happen to get a performer who can pull off some nasty tricks when combined with Coppellius. Hoffman -Mobile Toolkit Watcher Performer & Mannequin Wastrel Coppelius makes for a nice 'wonky' list that has some good mobile elements, hard to pin down and is very atypical of what you would expect when facing Hoffman normally
  5. I'l try and dig around for some pics for you, I blended a bit of purple and red into the flesh of my Ryle modle that in my 'osoi does guild' thread on here. And I am working through some punk zombies at the moment that have had a fair bit of purple added. Last nights game with Misaki was a nail biter, playing the new master of the hill strategy shared against the Viktorias, I was up in VP's by a fair bit when time had to be called but I think had the game played out I did not have the upper hand, still and ejoyable game though.
  6. Purple with flesh is a really good colour combo, I have used it quite a bit
  7. I know my boss may have considered it at times but all the permits you would need and Occupational Health and Safety that you would have to go through just wouldnt make it satisfying
  8. Yeah staff either not coming into work (and not calling in either) or a few of the ones on the floor are acting less than stellar today. Congrats on the paper Ed! writing long form has never been a strong point of mine even after submitting a thesis, give me drawings (technical or otherwise) and thats easy. I'm going to try out Misaki with using no heavy lifters except herself tonight (no model over 6ss) and see how it goes. I will probably return to Hoffman soon as I will be ordering some models to make some nice 'wonky' Hoffman lists soon. Until then Misaki is too much fun.
  9. Not too bad today, staff issue sat work but we can work around that looking forward to another game with Misaki tonight.
  10. used it a couple of times conference calling to Italy, had four people and it worked fine. just picked up a cool independent comic that is taking a while to be produced but it looks really promising its called lady mechanika
  11. Work busy and looking at doing a lot of things at home too, paving landscaping, storage and shelving in garage ... lots of little projects. My mind starting to get really geared up for my tinkerer
  12. Howdy guys, long time no post, things may be settling down a little more here so I can actually get online more.
  13. Th trapper is really useful in that he has a useful crew buff with guide, keeps mobile with his trigger and works really nicely against constructs and beasts. I invariably always bring him along and am never disappointed. He should always be able to get two shots a turn off from turn one and that pressure helps immensely or use him as a sniper that can close off and area of the board by walking out, getting a clear shot then repositioning back out of line of sight. He is not a staright out killer model but is a tactical model.
  14. What I am going to post may seem like a cop out but in my experience it rings true, play and practice. Familiarity with a crew or model swill make you play quicker naturally, I know that when I started playing Hoffman games took me longer but now he is in my stable of crews that I can play quite quickly with, Misaki is getting there but hasnt joined that club yet. The slow read through cards games although they may seem a little frustrating are very important to the learning process as you will get to a point where certain situations arise where you can go 'Hey I know what to do here!'. Try enforcing a soft time limit on yourself as well if you find you are still taking longer than you wanted.
  15. The question really is do we want to see a crying Justin in a spinny chair?
  16. My days not as bad as yesterday but still extremely hot. Good thing is I'm not as crippled with back pain as much as I was yesterday. I am missing sleep though as the hot nights really dont help out trying to actually get some sleep
  17. Its too hot to paint at the moment for me in the middle of a heat wave and no aircon, the problem is that I have heaps of stuff I want to paint (Malifaux and Bloodbowl) congrats on passing Ed
  18. Update Time! Currently attendees are: 1. Paul M 2. John M 3. Dan R 4. Nic
  19. Thanks for that I would say its growing, slowly. It is definately being consolidated more over here as the network of different players and groups are coming together and there are always people asking about the game when its being played at the clubs so interest levels are increasing too.
  20. Archers are great, they arent intensive on resources at all and cycle through a deck quite quickly once you start getting their triggers off. Torakage are brilliant, I cant ever see myself not bringing 2 along into a game along with Yamaziko. Shang I like his mobility and that he is a good source to cast downburst but will be trying games without him as well. Ototo is not someone I will always field, I think having access to a Ronin at times is a better beatstick piece and more mobile independently. Oiran are handy 4ss models taht you shouldnt discount either.
  21. We had to replace ours (we only have one) 18 months ago because the clutch was starting to get quite scary, that was probably about a year earlier than the plan. Moral of the story, plans never ever work
  22. Problem is I'm in Australia so really not that far away. I'm halway through sorting a purge myself but not sure if I will go through with it
  23. A cool breeze would be more appreciated Mako, the worst bit for me is that for the next two weeks I'm spending a lot more time out of the office and in the heat for work. Misaki and Co. didnt hand out a decisive beating, its just that I am really enjoying how much you can do with them and how they can adapt to a lot of situations. Misaki killed a Punk Zombie in one activation then scurried away but she completly fluffed a Diving Attack against Molly. Shang pulled an impressive downburst as well. The whole game was an intricate game of cat and mouse and as I keep saying to people, she is as much about area denial as an actual killing piece, she can threaten pretty much anything within 15" at a basic level and you can extend that further under the righ circumstances which usually arent too hard to engineer. She is a lot of fun to play.
  24. Well its been hot here lately and only getting hotter, I dont think I have seen cloud in the sky for almost a week now. Big problem for me at the moment is staying focussed on one particular project, I think though after last nights game, Misaki an dthe 10T may have jumped the queue a bit.
