@Clousseau, Quick question if you don't mind: it's more than probable that we will get all the alt. cards for the masters during the Gen Con, so what is the approach for the models? If the base is the same size, can I use for instance the same Tara regardless of her version, or should I have a different Tara for each version? Some conversion that will make her different so my opponent knows she is not the regular Tara?

    Thanks!

Hi. I'm thinking about it at the moment and will make an announcement by the end of September,  if not before.

  2. There is no perfect answer on terrain. As @Adranhas said I have around 50 tables-worth of terrain boxed at table level, with matching mat or 2D board. After many debates at events I added a terrain traits sheet to each box which gives players a guide to the characteristics of that table's terrain. Players can agree to differ, but it gives a default. Due to being transported around the country there's no fixed terrain which has the advantage of flexibility to suit starts/schemes/deployment. In tournaments the variety of terrain traits, layout, etc. is an important element and may advantage, or disadvantage, a particular crew, and the more flexible players will work round this.

To answer some of the questions raised, buildings are 1 piece of terrain, and not too big. If large then there should be multiple access points. For a river, or other such extended piece of terrain I would either not count it all all for scoring (using adjacent features such as trees, bridges, etc. for 'terrain') or split into convenient section (between bridges for example) at least 6" apart. Sections could be different sizes.

If making a permanent 3D table I'd suggest a few test games on a simulation first, to avoid issues that would be difficult to fix later, and try an build in some flexibility e.g. building swap out for a graveyard.

For me the key pieces of terrain are the scatter pieces, which impact movement, provide cover, etc. Personally I like carriages, carts and crates.

  7. On the Friday evening I'll be at the store from 5pm (opening time) to set up and have a chat with whoever is about. If you plan to be there too please let me know so that I can inform the store.

I've also confirmed that masks must be worn at all times in the store, even when playing. On the positive note, no pod restrictions so event should run as normal.

Trophies and swag ordered and some neat prizes found for the raffle, including a nightmare crew and maybe a Pigapault.

Quick question, is 5 the final number of rounds, or depending on the number of players would it go up to 6?

I'm fine losing just 5 matches, but somebody asked me so I'm asking on his behalf.

We're limited to 5 rounds this year due to time constraints.

  9. As the previous venue can no longer host events we've found a new home as part of the Warfare show, at its new home at Ascot Racecourse.  Numbers and flexibility is limited this year, but if the venue proves good we can make improvements for 2022. Ticket includes entry to the show both days, and there is free parking or a 7 minute walk from Ascot railway station.

UK Nationals ticket sales are now live. Please post on the forum post or facebook event if you get tickets so I can try to keep track.

Tickets will be limited to 64 72 places. If all tickets go please use the contact address as it helps me pressurise for additional places if we need them. Tickets are £35.
    https://wargamesreading.co.uk/product/malifaux-uk-nationals-warfare-2021/

Tickets are sold out, and refunds are no longer available. You are free to 'sell' them to another player, but please let me know as I have to give a player list to the show organisers so you can get in!

  11. As the UK gets back to gaming in stores don't forget to make use of the online calendar.

TOs - use to avoid event clashes and to promote your event - let me know and I'll add provisional dates.

    Players - plan your weekends.

So we just need now the pandemic to go away so @Clousseau can run a Bayou Bash wild night the Friday before the UK Nationals... man, do I miss tournaments!

I guess it's been confirmed elsewhere, but can we set up the track the way we want it or is it fixed to be always an oval? Two boards joined together, twice the fun!

Now that's a brilliant idea. Non Malifaux Friday games with Bayou Bash, Puppet Wars & EBO

I probably would have been in the pub by now!  Hope to see you all next year!

I've been trying not think of it after I realised I still had today booked as holiday!

I'm distracting myself by organising my biggest charity raffle yet.
