  1. I'll be running a demo day at Good Games Hurstville on 30/4 for anyone interested in learning the game. They are trying to get a community running at the store, so anyone looking to learn the game or get back into it would be great to see there. I'll have everything needed to run people through an intro game, or if you have models and are looking to learn, bring them along and we can sort out a demo! 30/4/17 1pm-5pm Good Games Hurstville Unit 213, 7-11 The Avenue, Hurstville, New South Wales, Australia 2220
  2. I try and make as many of my tournaments as beginner friendly as I can. This one probably works more toward beginner friendly than some of the others though. It's the basic schemes/strategies, not the gaining grounds variants, so you are probably familiar with them already. Smaller than usual crew sizes would mean a basic crew would be a good core force, and you wouldn't be faced with a huge number of unknown models staring at you across the table (hopefully). A lot of the tournament regulars are aware that everyone starts somewhere, and are patient. Plus, they often only get games in every few months, so would likely be just as rusty on the models as you are new to them. Plus, if you had questions about henchman things or the tournaments, I'm happy to answer in person while I'm there, and you can see some more of the community.
  3. I've been a henchman for a few years now. It's quite fun. You get to meet a lot of people in the community, which (Especially in Australia) is really friendly. As people have said above, no one knows all the rules perfectly, and can forget. I still do it from time to time. But if you are willing to double check, and discuss it with the other player/s, then it usually works out well. I've found with demo crews as well, less is more. If you're starting a new game, you don't want to be thrown in the deep end with a dozen models all with different abilities. A few one each side lets you get your head round the game easier. If you can make sure models can act independently (They don't need tricks from other models), that usually makes it straight forward as well. I saw a crew recently that a friend had built for another player getting back in to learn the rules again. Everything was based around "Justice runs up and hits stuff", "Nino shoots stuff", and didn't rely on models enhancing other models, so they were all useful no matter what got taken out of action.
  4. Just a reminder to everyone that this is on this weekend.

  12. Less than one week to go, everyone! I thought I would stop by to offer some info on prizes! I ordered in a 16 player tournament pack, and it arrived from Wyrd a while ago (a lot sooner than I expected). I've also got a small mystery box and spare Guilder from the welcome pack, as well as a Johanna model, so I'm throwing it all together for the prize pool. As it stands, the current prize pool is: 1st Place - Large Mystery Box, certificate, 5 Guilders 2nd Place - Small Mystery Box, certificate, 3 Guilders 3rd Place - Small Mystery Box, certificate, 2 Guilders Next 14 players - 1 Guilder The spare Small Mystery Box will be randomly rewarded to someone who hasn't placed. So even if you come last, you potentially walk out with a Guilder and Small Mystery Box. As I mentioned, I also have a Johanna model. There will be a space on the scoresheet to vote for the best painted force, and I will suggest people leave out their 5 best models over lunch for people to check out. Whoever gets the most votes ins the model (I will act as tiebreaker if needed). The model may be awarded to someone who has placed as well, so turning up with a great looking crew and doing well could net you a lot of loot! I may be able to source a few more things as well, so look for another update later this week for more news. See you on Sunday!
  13. Games are on this Wednesday again, and I'll be bringing along the info needed for the new Divergent Paths games as well.
