  1. Man, I hope this is somewhat wrong. Cool figs are great. But I don't want plastic 3d terrain with working lights and movable doors etc.. It will make the game unnecessarily expensive, and make for a ton more painting that needs to be done. I'll take traditional cardboard tiles thank you very much.
  2. You know, thinking about it the 15 mm mice might actually work pretty well alongside our 28-33 mm figs. I might have to come with something for that.
  3. These are pretty cool. I especially like the mouse warriors. I Kinda wish I played a game that I could use these. Do you think people would object to an anthropomorphic animal army in there Flames of War campaign?
  4. Personally I would stay away from Gunze paints. They are an odd duck. They work ok, but they are a kind of strange solvent based acrylic. They don't behave like the traditional acrylics we are used to and will not mix with them either. I say stick with the more traditional mini paint lines. It will make your life a lot easier.
  5. Some of these are pretty awful, and the rest are pretty boring, as usual. I kinda like the gnome though, but that weapon would have to go.
  6. I actually kinda like the kids. Some Spine Spur minis I don't instantly dislike, who would of thought that would happen?

I love the mustardy yellow tone you used. What paints did you use. I'd really like to try that style of yellow. Over all it is a beautiful piece that has a great vibrancy.
  8. I love the character design on these. They appear to be the work of the same fellow who did the Stalks mini in the Hasslefree line, a mini I really like. I totally dig this guy's vision and style. I'll keep my eyes on this one and probably pick up a few of the minis at some point. The name needs a change though, Twilight instantly makes me think of the lame teeny-bopper vampire novels. *Upon further inspection this is also the fellow who did The Traveling Court of the Brownie King in the FUUK competition awhile back. It is another mini I just loved, but unfortunately have never been able to get.
  9. There are clearly not many serious board gamers here. Being one myself the concept of the dice tower makes perfect sense to me. One way to drive a board gamer bonkers is to actually roll the dice onto the board or play area. The problem is often times there isn't enough real estate on a table to get a proper rolls with out the danger of knocking pieces around or having the dice constantly falling off the table, especially on a large complex game. A dice tower is a nice solution to errant dice that give you a good dice roll, using minimal table space. Plus they just have that cool hardcore geek factor. All that said I don't own one myself. Although there was a company near the Wyrd booth at Gencon last year that sold very nice wooden dice trays. If there again this year I might pick one up. Regarding the tower in this post, it is a little boring. The design is simple and the deco is a little plain.
  10. I'm a complete an total Star wars nerd. Mine is my initials, RRJ, turned into an Star Wars astromech droid designation.
  11. OMG, they have the Mel's Mega Burger! Back when I was in highschool I actually ate a Mel's Mega Burger. Took me almost an hour, and I basically wanted to trow up by the end. If you finish it they gave you a coupon for a second one free. I never went back to use it though. It's funny to see that again.
  12. I don't know what kind of molding process Alkemy uses, but it seems clear that it is not the same injection mold casting GW uses. It would appear to be some sort of system that is much more viable in a small scale. And it does indeed produce some fine results. It makes me curious to see exactly how PP is doing it. They produce so many types of models that I'm not sure the sell through numbers on most of them would make going whole hog GW style injected molding viable. So I wonder if they are doing something closer to the Alkemy style. The seeming lack of posability in the Bastion unit also leads me to belive that they might have gone that route. The halmak of the GW style plastics is that the model comes in a bunch of seperate parts and you build them like you want. Where as the Alkemy plastic models come much like the traditionl metal mini, in a few pieces and can only really be built only one way with out converting. I'm really curious to see exactly how PP is going to do it and I look forward to the Bastions release and seeing for myself.
  13. These could be pretty popular with Board gamers too. Especially for games with tiles that get randomly drawn. I'd love a cool Egyptian themed bag for my copy of Ra.
  14. Can your camera adjust for the type of light source? These look like they were shot with incandescent lights with out much white balance adjustment. And a good back ground always helps too. Anyway they look nice. I love most of the old Mordhiem figures. They are some of my favorite stuff GW has ever done.
  15. I think it makes a pretty piss poor substitute. It doesn't look like the PP trolls at all. I actually really like the original winter troll a lot. The pose isn't that bad, and the sculpt itself is excellent. Much better the the Earthborn, which I despise, but every one else seems to love. To each there own I guess. As for the Ice troll on its own merits, it is pretty cool. Although I wonder how much of that impression is due to the excellent paint job, and how much is the scuplt itself.
  16. Very nice stuff. I may be starting on my first beat up style army myself, so seeing what you did to the beast gives me some good ideas.
  17. There actual is a starship game based in the Honorverse. http://www.genreconnections.com/shop/index.php?p=product&id=35&parent=16 I don't really know much about it though.
  18. Vike if your really interested in the Ninja Magic's game, With Hostile Intent, I was able to find some intro rules awhile back. You can grab them on this webzine.http://planetside.firenebula.com/greatmachine/ I downloaded them but have never really done more then skim them, so I'm no expert. I think the real issue at this point whether the rules will ever be completed and the game released.
  19. I've bought a a solid handful of the ninja magic ships at Gencon in the last 2 years. They are really cool. Unfortunately the game itself appears on the long winding road to nowheresville. Firestorm armada here seems to be the most promising generic starship game going right now. The minis are nice, and most importantly the company thus far seems to be pretty good about getting their product out and building a playerbase.
  20. Pretty neat. I'm already hopping on board with these guys with Uncharted Seas. If that works out well I might give these a try too.
  21. Pretty cool little concept, and I like the finished product. I think trying to paint something like that well would drive me nutty though.
  22. Harbor Freight is a magical wonder land of cheapo tools. You never know what you'll run across. Such a tiny chop saw seems strange to me but it could be useful.
  23. This should be interesting. Hopefully they hammer out the inconsistencies and little problems that keep cropping with more and more frequently. And maybe make a few of the more useless models actually worth taking. ** just checked out the faq** I love this, and it gives me great hope for a game where the Warjcks were becoming less and less viable.
  24. These are just fantastic. The guys that come up with this stuff have some strange minds. I love it.
  25. I think this is just about the smartest thing GW could do (this of course means it probably isn't true). It would give them a great gateway game to snag new players, and it will delight all the bitter old skool GW players in the process. I long ago gave up on all things GW. But if they were to re do Space Hulk I would pick it up in a heart beat. I certainly hope this is true, but I won't hold my breath.
