    Being "on the ropes" is to be in a bad condition oir state. My guess it is drawn from boxing, when if you are on the ropes you are likely getting the crap knocked out of you.

    Mid fifties F here in Kansas. Overcast, but not to windy. Actually feels all right--we were about 20 degrees colder a few days ago. Isn't strange how the weather, depending on what you have been experiencing recently is so relative? 50 degrees and I am running around in a t-shirt. If had been 70 degrees, I would be complaining how bitterly cold it was.
