  1. When I first started painting figures it was really becuase I had no one to play the games with and I was mesmerised by the painted minis at the local GW store. I would just get whatever caught my eye. When I first got the internet I found more companies selling minis. I - Kore was looking good certain figures in particular. So I got some of those. I was always drawn to a certain type though. Then I spotted Hasslefree and painted one of their figures. I got some Warmachine and Iron Kingdoms. The Sally at Hasslefree bought the figure from me I painted and asked me to do some more. It was only then looking back at the non GW figures I had collected and painted did I realise the majority where Kev White sculpts. So I guess without knowing it I turned into a Kev White fan. I still really enjoy painting anything he does. I get more enjoyment from sculpting now than painting. I have found I am a lot fussier in chosing figures to paint. I like Steve Buddles clean sculpts. I like the character in Heresy sculpts. I like Rackham sculpts here and there but dont seem to be able to get the motivation to paint them. I like a good balance between detail and cleanliness. Too much un essential detail ruins a sculpt for me. Probably the sculptor who I am keeping the closest eye on is Edgar Ramos. His sculpts never fail to get me foaming at the mouth. So I think Kev will always be my favourite sculptor but Edgar is very close. As for painters I get inspiration every where. Yellow One never fails to amaze me. My own mind. I like horror. Fantasy or sci fi. Doesnt matter. The more twisted and weird the better. I buy all my minis on tinternet Packaging.....I love the Rackham stuff. Feels like you are getting a collectable. Which suits me more cos I dont game. I hate mould lines on faces. I hate Reaper broccolli bases. I love rounded display bases eg Warmichine.
  2. You can see the progression in your ability with the drawings. I like the concept very much, something Ive been thinking along the lines of. Im a practicing sculptor and wanted a theme for my practice sculpts and was thinking of a desert/wild west theme with a bit of steampunk thrown in. Futuristic cowboys but no horses, giant lizard mounts instead. I like them especially third from last.
  3. I like it too. Great background that is open to loads of sub stories and plots etc. Would also be good as inspiration for miniatures......maybe not completely original but that would be difficult when everything has already been done.
  4. Yup that Ogres a cracker. As for the Munchie I hope you like rivers of blood :thumb:
  5. Hi Steve Just finished the Munchkin myself so look out for some pics....let me know if you want any hi res ones btw. Congrats on the Gold statue too. So how long till we get to see Dot then ??
  6. Reminds me of the time I took a sip of brush cleaning water instead of coffee.
  7. Believe me you can't make slate bases like that with cork. The nearest I have got is with milliput sheets. I have used the old style bases from Scott and they are great. These display ones look even better. Problem with me is I like making my own or I would buy loads. If I had an army or squad to do then I would get some.
  8. Washes are severely underused IMO. You can get excellent realistic looks using washes and once mastered can be quick and easy too. I havn't tried that way Mosch though what I do sounds generally the same. I add the flow improver/water mix into the paint then apply.
  9. If his conversions are anything to go by there will be a thousand of these this time next week. Thats not a bad thing though, talented guy.
  10. Hmm. I like figures that make me think but I also like to be able to come to a conclusion about them. This one I can't. She obviously fights cos she has some sort of sword. Eyes blindfolded...not my cup of tea but hey she could magically see things.....use the force. Legs strapped......noooooooo way can she fight anything with her legs strapped. So so.
  11. Look good to me. Spider bots are cool.
  12. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgghhhhhh Anything but the crazy frog. Are these from the new Monkey range I wonder. Some of the stuff there is good.
  13. Thats how Ive felt about the others really but this one has a certain edge to it that Im liking.
  14. Im trying to resin cast him but its a long "bubbly" process at the moment. Problem is I dont want to waste too much time on him when I should be practicing more. CL....this one I used some clear tube carved to fit around the rock to "cast" the water into. The edge came out a bit "foggy".
  15. Great article Eric. I will be giving this a shot. Im already used to very thin painting as thats how I do almost all my stuff. More like multiple glazes though.
  16. Great stuff Eric. That Munchkin was bloody quick.
  17. Yup men can be shits alright......don't give up hope though, there are good guys out there,,,,,,honest. Take it easy CL.
  18. I do believe she is having a shite. Is the tube arse to mouth or mouth to arse.....does it have a non-return valve ??
  19. Ive just recieved the new Anastasia and the casting quality is unbeleivable. Can't even find a mold line and its a great sculpt.
  20. The new Netherlord is available for pre order for £35 and you get the Cardinal figure as a freebie. Its goint to be at least £50 when sold normally. Ive ordered one.
  21. Whoooop.....thats me in the attic to dig out the Books of Blood. That guys mind is seriously odd and brilliant. Guess Ive read pretty much all of Stephen King. Same with Tolkien......Silmarillion my favourite.Hard read at times but some of the stories are amazing. Same with Pratchett but been slacking with the last few. Any fan of Silence of the Lambs should read the books...Thomas Harris if I remember rightly.Red Dragon being the best. Right Im off to get Books of Blood..........
  22. Until I started with the Da Vinci ones my favourite brush was a knackered old GW fine detail that had lost hairs and the paint in the furrule kept the point perfect no matter what I did to it. It had the finest point but you only got 3 milliseconds to get the paint on.
  23. On the other hand the use of soap certainly does make bush licking more pleasurable.
