Yeah, my basic math skills are working too. ;)

However i can't find a paragraph in the new rulebook about this. Remember, we got an 8 point limit back in 1.5 (especially Jack Daw rule, which gave you an extra point, but you could not exceed the 8 point limit). Simply missing the rule does not mean its not there :P

Actually, there is some inconsistency in the rules.

Page 40 from the last version

However, each player will still choose their own two

Schemes, which generate up to 8 Victory Points (VP).

It's a pity, nobody spot this typo during the playtest. :)

From the 7/5/13 Beta Rules Low res edition.

Earning VP from Strategies: Page 48

Strategies are scored at the end of every turn, in the Upkeep step (pg. @@). In addition, no player may ever earn more than 4 Victory Points from the shared Strategy.

Earning VP From Schemes: Page 50

A player can never earn more than 3 VP from a single Scheme. Many Schemes require Scheme Markers (see pg. @@)

4+3+3 = 10

This is contradicted on page 40:

However, each player will still choose their own two Schemes, which generate up to 8 Victory Points (VP). Because the shared Strategy is only worth 4 VP, it becomes important for players to achieve their own personal Schemes... and to guess which their opponent chose so that they can be denied!

In the early edition of the rules you could earn up to 12, 8 from schemes and 4 from the strategy. Page 48 and 50 clearly define that the new maximum Vp for a game is now 10. Hopefully they edited page 40 to say that 2 schemes generate a maximum of 6 vp before going to print.
