Dragons are powerful! Dragons are Mystical! Dragons are highly more intelligent then Humans and deserve a world where THEY are the dominant force of destiny!

The game of DRAKE combines elements of CCG’s (Collectible Card Game’s) with high quality white metal miniatures of beautiful Dragons and their deadly minions. Each force has their own separate deck of spell cards, many of which can be played to interrupt the actions of opponents. Creation and Construction cards allow you to “Summon” warrior beasts, flying enchanted creatures, and powerful energy nexus’ as you need them on the battlefield. Enhancement cards give you many options to “Beef up” your troops with deadly ability bonuses. Human servants as well as the great Dragons smaller minions called “Cousins” form the starting tabletop troops of your force. Everything else is called forth as you need it!

Come on folks, check it out...

Cheers

Drake is an exciting new game idea which evenly blends CCG (Collectible Card Game) card decks and fantastic Dragon miniatures (The combination CCG (Collectible card game) and Table top war game). The combination of models and cards really adds resolution to every move, making games with a few models really enjoyable. Imagine giving the leader of your favorite mini game a customizable spell deck, instead of a fixed list of abilities (In many games you will have a leader, and that leader will have a fixed or mildly selectable list of spells and abilities to use. What we have done is replaced that typical list with a spell deck. It’s still the same idea, just giving the player more choice and the fun element of surprise). The cards are sold in an open format, meaning that you know which cards are in a pack before you buy. The cards are not just for creating “fog of war” or “random events” but play an important hand building strategy and plays. This is an even combination of a CCG and Mini game; both elements have equal importance in winning.

Background:

Ancient pre-historic Dragons that have awoken in a newly post-ice age continent called, Dara. The dragons are now dominating the land and causing havoc. They use newfound abilities to produce semi sentient creations and pull spirits into the real world to fight for and serve them. They are NOT ridden by humans, they are NOT bland villains who live in caves and horde treasure, and they are NOT made out of silver or platinum. These dragons have a biological starting point (after all giant reptiles DID roam the earth…) and have grown into the mystical beasts through the marvel of sound manipulation, resonant frequencies and millions of years of chant magic induced stasis.

Each dragon migrated to the geographical location it was most comfortable with and proceeded to completely crush the local human and hominid inhabitants. Some used brute force, some trickery, and some actually formed an alliance.

THE STORY BEGINS

Slowly growing in the sky, a brightorb approached the old world. Barely noticeable at first, it quickly became asource of panic amongst the Kal’lam ast. Dragonkind are wise and capable, theycomprehended much of the natural world and quickly began to understand theirdoom was upon them.

The comet would kill them all.Wisest of the Dragonkin realized that if some survived the impact, dust anddebris from the impact would block out the sun. The Kal’lam ast depended on thesun to regulate their sleep cycle, and without it they would sleep until death.

Word was spread, the fastestflyers, those with the greatest wings and smallest bodies, carried a message. The greatest gathering of Dragons in history was called. The great “Mekal” ormeeting of all families, the largest and most comprehensive organizing of thegreat Dragon race took place in a huge canyon simply called The Mouth Of theWorld.

All were assembled over thirtyturns of the sun, and took their places on the crags, valleys and cliffs. Fromthis great natural amphitheater the future of their people was discussed, argued, fought over, and discussed again. Their greatest minds and most ancientelders all voiced opinions, some calling for a great migration, some callingfor retreat into the great caves of the earth, and some just professing doom.

It was at this time that anabnormal and unknown group of Dragons made their first appearance. TheseDragons bore strange marks on their bodies, all in the likeness of the sun. They called themselves “The Servants of Sola” and proposed something sofantastic, it shocked Dragonkin society to its core.

The Servants of Sola spoke of the nature oflife, how wondrous and perfect the evolution of all creatures. Too perfect theysaid, to be created by chance. Too organized to be left to natural creation.

The Servants of Sola proposed theunthinkable, that a great spiritual force was behind all creation. That a vastand benevolent intelligent design was the foundation of all life, that thisgreat spiritual force watched them even now, and judged their actions. That thegreat comet in the sky was proof of this great intelligence, and that if all Dragonkindid not respect and obey the wishes of this great being, this “Sola,” that theywould be judged unworthy and destroyed.

The result of this speech, done infront of thousands upon thousands of Kal’lam ast was anarchy. Some decried thisnotion as a mark of insanity, and that The Servants of Sola should be killed. Some wholeheartedly accepted their proposed wisdom and flew down to the centerof the canyon ready to unify with these revolutionaries, and fight to protectthem. Most Dragons called for peace and calm while this new idea wasconsidered, some called out catastrophe for them all, as the world seemed to beturning to further madness.

Before battle could explode fromthe staggering tension of the great meeting, their came a roaring sound oftremendous proportion. This deafening howl silenced the screaming throng andall, both Servant of Sola and their opponents, looked on in wonder as a greatdragon elder floated down from the sky above.

His wings did not move yet he hungthere above them, slowly descending to the center of the vast mountain valley. His mouth did not move yet he spoke; spoke with a voice like thunder and allthe great beasts heard his words not with their ears; but inside their skulls…

“ Silence… Silence all! Thisbrooding and shouting like yearlings in the nest is madness!

Our doom approaches! Yet yousquabbling infants would debate and kill each other over a matter of ideology!

The nature of life means nothingtoday. The nature of creation means nothing today. The order of power amongstus means nothing today…

DOOM; DOOM APPROACHES FROM THEHEAVENS AND WE WILL ALL DIE UNLESS YOU QUIET YOUR MINDS AND LISTEN!

FOR I HAVE OUR SALVATION”

With those words the great creatureclosed his eyes, spread his wings and floated serenely in the middle of thecanyon. All eyes were upon him, and all mouths were silent, for no beast wouldutter a whisper, so cowed and shocked they were by this mighty presence. Slowly, incredibly; it dawned on the teaming multitude what this great creature wasinstructing. Slowly, one by one, all closed their eyes, and spread their wings.Slowly, one by one, they began to hear, distantly at first, then with greatvolume, a song…

It was the song of life, a greatharmonious vibration, so simple yet beautiful that tears welled up is thousandsof closed eyes and many raised their heads in rapture. The song came first fromthe floating Dragon in their midst, then unexpectedly it began to flow aroundthem, through them, and they understood. A dragon has a mighty voice, a larynxand vocal cords capable of the complicated notes of mating rituals and theharsh varied calls of the hunt. One by one the creatures matched this flowingsong in pitch and frequency. One by one began the greatest harmony of the oldworld. One by one they heard the voice of the great beast floating in front ofthem softly in their minds…

“ I am HAX. Long have I practicedthis song, long have I studied the sound and vibrations of life. It is here wecan find deliverance, it is here we will survive, and it is though this greatchant, that we will sleep away the doom from the sky.”

The assembled Dragonkin, eyesclosed, throats harmoniously working in unison, began to descend into thecanyon. By flying and gliding slowly, by the great tread of might limbs or thetiny fluttering of delicate wings they descended. The Kal’lam ast could notplace where this instruction came from; they were compelled by some longforgotten instinct. Down and down they went, deeper and deeper, until all wereassembled in the bowels of the canyon. Some stood in clefts and on the canyonfloor, others the natural shelves on the canyons walls, still others wentdeeper, to a huge, natural spring fed cave directly below the floor of TheMouth of the World. When all were in place they heard for the last time thevoice of HAX…

I've played several (WHFB, WarmaHordes being the largest) but I'm pretty much Malifaux only for the last couple years. I play something from all factions except Neverborn and Rezzer. I think I'm up to 14 crews now....with my soon to be 15th being released this month.

Hello All,

Just thought you guys might want some info on the forces of Drake. Here is a quck description of the mighty forces which are locked in dealy battle in Drake

Rish: The deadly sky raptors. Manipulators of humanity and unfathomably devious, these creatures love war, conquest, and ornate armor. Rish forces use a multitude of human warriors and war machines with fast and efficient spells and summoned creatures

Garrick: The great mountain lords. Massive and territorial, noble, but vicious, the Garrick have bent mountain dwelling tribal primitives to their will and defend their lairs staunchly against invaders looking for metal and riches. Garrick forces are full of might. High constitution gives their beasts an almost indestructible quality, while tribes of violent hominids obey their commands without question. What they lack in spell power and complex weaponry they make up for in crushing deadly force!

Saan: The Ancient Mystics. Slender beasts with incredible intellects, the Saan have taken total control of the coastal Kaymayuk nation and from their ziggurats legions of Jaguar skin clad warriors march forth to do their will. Saan forces use spell power supremacy to dominate the battlefield. Any who attempt to attack their slim forms must survive the human sacrifice loving zealots that guard them and the chant magic onslaught that follows!

Remember the KS campaign starts the first week of February!

Cheers

Michael

Hello All,

Here are some important game mechanic details for Drake.

Drake is a 28mm Fantasy, small force (IE: model count) combination CCG (Collectible card game) and Table top war-game. This is an even combination of a CCG and Mini game; both elements have equal importance in winning.

The cards are very comparable to most other CCG cards in size, texture, and content. They are not just “fog of war” or “random thingy happening” cards but played from a hand you build yourself to craft your own personal strategy and plays. ACTION GAMES MINIATURES is Very proud to have exceptional artists designing the cards.

The game involves using a minimum of 30 cards and a maximum of 60 limit cards (3 copies of a card per deck). Max hand size is ten and you draw two cards per turn. Here’s the cool part: YOU PICK YOUR STARTING HAND OF 7 CARDS! Create the tactical situation you desire

Here are the card types utilized in the game:

CHANT: The Spells! (Only playable on operating models turn…)

ENHANCEMENT: The Beef, Buffs, hurtful things, and those things that stick around and do cool stuff.

SNAP: BAM, thought you had me didn’t you then Zzzzap! All of the sudden you don’t! Snap cards are a large variety of near instant card effects. The only basic limitation is that you have to play before or after movement or attacks are declared, not during. They can counter and re-counter each other, making strategy and resource management almost as fun as spoiling that satisfied smirk on your opponents face.

Hope all this sounds very cool. Check out Drake at actiongamesminiatures.com

Cheers

Presenting our Drakes first Character, Princess Acadia!

post-11810-13911927494828_thumb.jpg

DRAKE is not really a human character game, its more about DRAGONS and their deadly beasts, but you did not think we’d leave the heroes out altogether did ya!

This River-crest Princess is a survivor. After returning from one of her many journeys into the wild lands to find her family and many ruling noble houses burned to cinders and huge ancient reptiles ruling in their place. She quickly made a point of loudly professing her devotion to the new leaders and claimed that her father was a tyrant, who she always hated (which drew raised eyebrows from those left at court, who knew this to be an outright lie). The Princess volunteered to lead the RISH Dragons advance forces, and most dangerous missions. This puts her in direct contact with the most elite troops (and wildest madmen…) with whom she secretly plants the seeds of rebellion against the RISH!

Don't forget Drake will be on Kickstart starting the first week in February!

Cheers

Michael
