Cheating in Red Joker

Is it possible to cheat in a red joker on a negative flip for damage?

on page 23 of rules manual it states that "the Red Joker may be used in duels even when the flip has one or more a negative fate modifiers"

does that mean when it is flipped when flipping all the negative modifiers then it is taken because it is a red joker? or can i cheat it in from my hand if the flip is negative?

You can never cheat on a twist.

The rule you quoted from the rulebook applies when you flip several cards (on a :-fate for example). If one of these cards is the red joker it can then be selected.

However the rule for not cheating on a means that the red joker cannot be cheated in.
