Foam board is the real confusing term...some people use it to mean foam core and some mean foam insulation.

Foam core are the same thing. It's the board that has a piece of foam sandwiched between two pieces of paper....it's used very often for presentations and the like...its most common size is quarter inch thick (sorry I don't know the equivalent metric) and you can get it in various sized sheets. You will find it mostly in art/office supply stores. It's best used by us for buildings. You need a very sharp razor to cut it and usually need to make 3 passes for the cleanest cuts.

Foam insulation is also know as polystyrene. It is pretty hard and comes in blue and pink varieties. It's actual use is for insulating buildings, so you'll find it usually in a DIY store. It comes in half-inch, one inch, and 2 inch thicknesses and you can get sheets of it up to 4 x 8 feet and sometimes larger. It's best used by us for hills and such...you can cut it with a razor knife or a hot wire cutter and it is sandable.

Hope that helps.
