The dead rise again

6 days later with 6 painted minis to show for it.

I figured I would wait until the seishin were finished and post a group shot instead of posting a seishin a day. They look kinda sub-par but I didn't try as hard as I should have because I didn't really like painting the models.

Here's my SPA. I decided due to my shaky hand I would leave the flesh black and brush some brown over it to resemble something that came from under a layer of dirt.

17 days later and I have a bunch of new minis to show off.

So far the challenge is still progressing along nicely. The remainder of the seventeen minis won't be posted because my camera died in mid shoot. I plan to have them up next update.

This is what I am proxying for the hungering darkness. I only had enough free money to order the book so I'm making due. I kinda like this model better. I feel that something that is always hungry should be a bit emaciated/

Having stepped away from the hobby to deal with real life related things I've decided that it would be a nice time to return to the old addiction for a bit.

Here's a Illuminated I stared today. I couldn't get him to stand properly so I decided to have him floating.

And here is the back view.

I didn't notice that gap in his shoulder until I posted the picture. I'm going to have to fix that. Any suggestions on what kind of base he should be floating over?

Got a little more work done on my to do list. Here's the results:

I think I'll leave the card skeleton as is. I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Being used as proxy metal gamin. Still have to have some work done on them

016-6.jpg

Neither my wife or myself like the goat man look of the mature nephilim so she wanted to use this instead.

015-6.jpg

I'm not in the mood to begin working on my dreamer model so here's my proxy for the moment.

013-8.jpg

I found this surfer guy on the floor one day at my job and I decided to have him become a proxy drowned model. Here's what he looks like painted up. I couldn't get all of the trim as I was afraid of butchering the rubbery model.

And the backside.

009-14.jpg

Here's his base as a W.I.P. I think the water looks pretty cool in this photo

010-15.jpg

And here's the finished result. Sadly the ink used to color the water bled out into the sand a little.

011-12.jpg

All save for the card skeleton and the drowned are works in progress.

I also worked a bit on my terrain works in progress. Still haven't gotten around to getting some water effects. I really have to do that.

For this one I decided to mix some water with some glue and dark green paint. I discovered shortly after snapping this photo that it was far too watery and was bleeding out of tiny holes in the foam. I had to wipe down my work space real quick.

005-31.jpg

For this one I decided to nix the water completely and just go with the dark green and glue. The spots to the right were just where I decided to brush some of the glue off of my brush

006-21.jpg

I'll post the results tomorrow when they finish drying. Well, today I mean.

Kannachan,

Well bud I looked at most of your work and read some on the reviews and heres where I'm at. Alot of posts already said this, but I'll say it again...you really need to start using dark stains or strong stains for contrast. Also I really feel you need to start highlighting your models, because there is very little color/light variance in your models. I saw your pictures of what you have ahead, but even though you have so much work to do take your time and please DON'T RUSH IT! Also have a color plan and a basing plan before you get started because I find ajusting as necessary if need be is far better then winging it.

Nighthater I will keep that in mind however for the time being I do not own any stains or washes. Basing is still very much one of my weak points. However thank you very much for your advice.

Several hours having passed I decided to look at the glue experiments. The results were mixed.

The watery glue dried out and bled out in most places. Not doing that again.

020.jpg

This one came out much better. I wish I had darkened the glue beforehand but now I know where to start.

021.jpg

If I drizzle some paint onto the glue after it has set but before it has dried will that create different colors in pool shapes or will that simply coat evenly?

I worked on the large organic terrain piece today. I experimented with paints and the glue and came up with a combination i'm happy with.

Here is the piece before the glue has a chance to set and solidify.

Got this in the mail the other day.

I'm going to use them to flush out my collection a bit then I'm going to play mirror matches with my wife for bragging rights at who is better with whom.

If those don't turn out to be as fun as I'd hope, I'm probably going to trade them or sell them online to get other more useful stuff.

I would love to do nothing more then just that except for one problem.

There is a (the only) store right near me that is a tabletop game/comic shop but the owner already said he doesn't want any people playing at his store. It's not like I haven't offered. :Sad_Puppet2:

And I'm fairly certain the basement of your house isn't an acceptable place to demo games.
