Duels, changing starting totals.

I think I already know the answer to this, but wanted to make sure.

In the manual it says "Starting with the losing model, each model may use either or both options below, in the order listed, but can use each option only once." - p28

Does that mean, for example, after the initial flip the losing player chooses whether to cheat and/or use a soulstone, then the opponent chooses to cheat and/or use a soulstone.

We've always played it that the loser chooses whether to cheat, then the winner, then the initial loser chooses whether to use a SS, and then the winner does: I suspect we're doing it wrong.

You have that order correct now. For some reason we did the exact same thing that your group did initially as well.

Actually, the way you guys were playing was right pre-rules manual. So you may have picked it up from the original rulebook.

Note that when casting spells the caster Cheats/uses Soulstones BEFORE the target player decides to cheat.

The caster must set the total first.

More correctly, when casting spells the caster Cheats/uses Soulstones BEFORE the target player flips their card. The Caster has to set the total to beat before the defender knows what card they will flip for defense.
