Is a shafted Marker considered a spell (ergo Magical damage)

So I was playing a game to day where my opponent threw out a shafted marker, and my Hanged walked onto it and triggered it, then we had to figure out if it was magical or not, we said it was so he took the 3 damage.

Did we do that correctly? Because technically the counter is doing the wounds not the spell buuuuuut yeah >.>

I hear tell that out was ruled Sonnia's flame pillars are considered magical, even though it's the terrain doing the damage. Based on that, I'd say you played it right

Since it was ruled (maybe? I have never actually seen the ruling but it seems to have come to a consensus) that Sonnia's Flame Wall is magial damage AND counts towards her manifest requirements I would have to say that Shafted is magical damage as well.
