joelmmorgan
If I am casting a spell action and the cost is 6 mask plus discard a card, Do I have to Discard a card pass or fail on the spell going off. For example I draw a 5 crows and cannot cheat it so the spell fails do I still have to pay the cost of discarding a card?
karn987
Nope! In the () of an action there are basically the costs for the action. It will have the Action Value you need to meet [the 6M in your example] and then it may have + and additional costs. But those costs are only met once you meet the first part. So you would flip and go for your 6M before having to discard the card and you would only perform the second part if you succeeded in the first. You resolve it left to right, just like you read a book. So you have to meet the Action Value, THEN play the Additional Cost. So simply, you must first meet the Action Value of an action before you pay any Additional Costs. If you do not meet the Action Value, you don't pay the Additional Cost. actionName (actionValue + additionalCosts) : Stuff! Edit: Just as a note, there are no Spells yet in Puppet Wars. Im guessing you meant an Action? Edited October 20, 2011 by karn987
LoboStele
Something to note is that if you successfully cast the spell (with the 6 :masks for instance), but then your opponent makes their Save (Df, Wp, etc.), you still have to discard the card. So the order goes: Successfully cast spell Meet any other requirements (discard card, discard soulstone, etc.) Target makes Resist flip Results! EDIT: Doh!! Didn't realize at first this was in the Puppet Wars section. So...ignore me...or sort of don't, as it applies to normal Malifaux, but not PW. Haha, my bad.
