I was thinking about how to 'base' or finish the top of the button. I kind of want to paint the edge of the base the suit color (red for Rams, purple for Masks, etc). I was going to attempt to paint a wooden effect somehow but hadn't thought too much into it. Wurmwood Posted September 2, 2011 Report Share Posted September 2, 2011 My puppets haven't arrived yet, but my plan is to mount them on base inserts so I can play Puppet Wars with them, then have bases with rare earth magnets so I can pop them on to play Malifaux. Which could be useful for people who don't know the Malifaux models and where they fall. So it's certainly a possible way to go with it. My wife and I planned on doing the same thing with the lips of the bases to help new people out. I spread the green stuff on with my fingers (dip you fingers in water so it doesn't stick to you) and I smooth it out with a sculpting knife (also dipped in water). Then you can just cut in however you like. The painting I did is done with (Games Workshop colors) Scorched Brown, then a drybrush of Fortress Grey, a drybrush of Bestial Brown, then Chestnut Ink. I'm fairly sure that they don't make Chestnut Ink anymore, but Ogryn Flesh should work well enough. Bohemian Posted September 6, 2011 Author Report Share Posted September 6, 2011 I like the wooden floor bases, but about half of my puppets are mounted on the base and in various steps of painting. Maybe a wood color with some other highlight to look like a floor. I could do a checkered floor but I believe that would be too much work for my painting skills to handle. merces Posted September 20, 2011 Report Share Posted September 20, 2011 hi folks, a little time has passed now, ppl should have there puppets now. any more have based there puppets ? more splendid ideas ? tried a couple of things today the first one is a 30mm inlay i cut to size. i believe i like that the most, but will cost some more. the second one i like to, easy, low cost plank base. the third, i like less, maybe paint can make it better. so, if ppl have pics or other ideas, plz share with us :-) grtz merces Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Jubilee Posted September 23, 2011 Report Share Posted September 23, 2011 I'm using some balsa wood that's textured like wood flooring for mine. I'm breaking it to give it a jagged look and it overhangs the base a bit. Eventually I'd like to add fallen buttons, loose string, stuffing, and sewing needle weapons...
