Avatar Hamelin and Frenzied Piping

So rules question here - aHamelin takes the action Frenzied Piping (Friendly vermin may inflict 1 wd on themselves when inflicting dg to increase the dg by +1)

now you have an undamaged rat with a blight token (all rats wind up with blight tokens basicly) that attacks a model, and does damage

at this point the rat can chose to take 1 wd from Hamelins action (perfectly legas as this wont kill the rat) the rat takes the wd and because it has a blight counter will take an aditional wd, killing the rat. Persuming the rat is near a rat catcher, when it is killed another rat will be summoned into base contact, and due to aHamelins "Mark of contagion" will gain a blight counter.

am I missing something here or can a rat basicly respon infinetly (as long as it keeps doing damage...)

Thats what I thought, as a Hamelin player I'm not complaining, seams a bit too powerfull, granted once the rat fails to hit the chain stops, but can still be powerfull
