Terrifying and Insidious Madness

I had a quick question about Terrifying I'd like cleared up. Terrifying states that by default it's range is the model's melee range. Insidious Madness has a spell to give it terrifying but it doesnt have a melee range, it only has a ranged attack.

I had someone tell me that the range is then reduced to 2" but I cant find that anywhere in the rulebook. Does that mean the only benefit Insidious Madness gets from terrifying is on charge? Thanks.

All models have a 1" melee range.

Page 11 of the Rules Manual:

Bash

All models have access to the melee weapon Bash with Rg :melee1, Cb 3, and Dg 0/1/2, even though it is not listed on their stat cards.
