infinite_array
I just bought the Rasputina boxset yesterday. It snowed 10 inches the day before, and now it's coming down again! All hail December!
Ratty
As an Englishman, I'm almost duty bound to say that's not Irony. It might well be a happy coincidence, it may be a Good Omen.. but it's not Ironic

Apokra
I Agree irony is difficult to explain, if it snowed after you got Tina that might be irony I live in Alaska. Ratty
I Agree irony is difficult to explain, if it snowed after you got Tina that might be irony nope even that wouldn't be. The main thing with irony is something is said and the inverse is perceived to be true. Sarcasm is the easiest type of irony. Situational Irony is far harder to define. from Dictionary.com an outcome that turns out to be very different from what was expected, the difference between what is expected to happen and what actually does So if I did a prayer to the Great Horned Rat for the rain to stop, and it immediately started hailing, that would be ironic. The rain did stop but it was obvious that what I was really asking for was decent weather.

Dirk Hardpeck
Irony ... it's like rain on your wedding day; it's a free ride when you've already paid; it's the good advice that you just didn't take.
Ratty
Irony ... it's like rain on your wedding day; Only if your marrying a Weatherman and he set the day. [ame] [/ame]
Ratty
There was a beautiful piece of irony linked to that song, Well other than the fact that it's called Ironic and nothing in the song is Ironic. A spokesperson for learning in America went on live TV saying how Alanis Morissette had let down America by showing the world how stupid the American's were for not knowing what Irony was. Well that's ironic as Alanis is Canadian.

Ratty
If I had any room at all in my signature on here I would add this to the top of it. "Be Warned: This post may contain Irony, please read this post a second time and perform a check for sarcasm and irony before you get offended." MunkeyKungFu
The non correct use of "Irony" is almost as bad as the "I could care less"
Ratty
The non correct use of "Irony" is almost as bad as the "I could care less" I have no issue with someone saying "I could care less" as long as they are aware they are subverting the form and actually mean "I could care less"
