Review : Cry Havoc 09

Recommended Posts

After the quite disappointing number 08, the new issue seems to redeem itself. The general design has less blank spaces, the artwork is newer, and each section has an equal part in the cake.

The news sections smells less of a catalog like last time and shows some AT-43 minis with some fluff.

The painting section covers several topics (basic technics, light theorie, step by step painting of Méliador the Céleste, and a Cadwallon dwarf).

The strategy section covers Mid-Nor Dwarfs and Kelt Sessairs. It's rather complete.

The univers section is maybe the most interesting part (even for painters) because it's full of artwork and can give a lot of ideas fo color combinations and textures. For gamers, it covers all the existing universes and sub-universes developped by Rackham to this day.

On a final note, the new formula is really destinated to Rackham miniature painters and players where as the old one was general enough for painters. If you paint Rackham minis, this issue might interest you, if not, try to get one of the old issues, they are serious painting reference material.
