  1. Thank you for all of the hard work! I will put that to use, either to quickly find maps I like the look of, or for your intended use of predefined terrain.
  2. So you recommend Altar of the Lost. What about the four most recent maps: Lazy River, Boomtown, Paths of Rubbish, Come and Take it. Would you say that they are reasonable examples of following the guidelines?
  3. Which handful of Vassal maps do you believe are good examples of the Gaining Grounds terrain recommendations implemented in Vassal? I am interested to see some specific examples so that when I play face to face I know what some good maps look like. I am not seeking the most balanced map, a mixture of examples would be really helpful.
  4. Here is version 6 including the high level summary diagram AttackDuelsVisuallyExplained_v6.pdf
  5. Through the feedback I have come to realise that perhaps new players would most benefit from something as simple as this attached diagram
  6. Here is version 5. I am yet to consider/included Solkans feedback. AttackDuelsVisuallyExplained_v5.pdf
  7. Thank you for the constructive feedback. I have incorporated checking for winner/TN in v5 which I will attach shortly.
  8. Thank you for the constructive feedback, I have incorporated a lot of it into v5 which I will attach shortly.
  9. With the intention of helping new players understand how the game works, I have created a visualisation (and example) of how Attack Duels are resolved. Please see the attachment. This is for players with less than 10 games under their belt. Hopefully it helps make it clear about what gets flipped when and gives them a rough idea of what factors into the outcomes. Try it out with your new players and let me know if it is useful. Constructive feedback is welcomed. This is NOT meant to be comprehensive; there are way to many options to include all of them. This is NOT intended for experienced players. AttackDuelsVisuallyExplained_v4.pdf
  10. Oh that is annoying I have already put in a large order, I was hoping they would line up nicely. Guess I will just have to see how they turn out, once they make it all the way to Australia.
  11. Hi has anyone purchase print on demand cards from https://www.wargamevault.com/ ? Are their cards physically the same as the cards we get from wyrd products/books/packs?
  12. In that case I will see if I can figure out a way for the spreadsheet to better account for the lowering probability of drawing multiple of the same suit. Not sure how but I will have a go...
  13. Hi Hermit, please go ahead and link to it as a resource. Thank you for the offer regarding the database; at the moment I don't think I want to go as far as integrating to your database. However if I do push on to look at Monte Carlo simulations I should also link to your database and go all the way
  14. Unfortunately your last paragraph has pointed out one of several weaknesses this simple spreadsheet has. In the spreadsheet the chance of drawing two "Masks of 5 or higher" is presented the same as drawing a "Mask of five or higher" AND a "Crow of five or higher" (or any other suit for that matter). I agree that the chance of drawing multiple cards of the same suit is lower than drawing across multiple suits (that is just very hard to represent in this simple spreadsheet). The other big weakness of the spreadsheet is that each "draw" assumes a full deck of cards. This assumption is of course invalid and skews the results. Again this is difficult to represent in this simple spreadsheet. The two weakness above would be nicely addresses by a Monte Carlo simluation however I don't want to go that far at the moment.
