@Maniacal_cacklechannel name?
Are those directly related or coincidentally adjacent?
Weak-Keyword Masters tend to be stronger individual models because they are designed/power-budgeted to be good without the help of their Keyword? Which leaves you free to spend Stones on good Versatiles and OOKs.
Whereas Masters that are intended to be heavily involved in their Keyword crew, so you effectively pay a 'tax' by taking less-good in-Keyword options to enable the Master?
I don't have my own channel but am hosted by Diceman. I'll post a link as soon as it is up
I prefer card draw masters, but they tend to have weak keywords cuz card draw is so strong... so I just play then with out of keyword things.

Perhaps this is more obvious to someone experienced with Nellie - why Nellie without her Keyword?
Just to control the Cursed interactions?I just put together a list-building video explaining all my choices for the game, so there should be a great deal of explanation in there!
Short version, you pick the master before you know the opponent's master. For this round, there were at least 4 keyword models on my maybe list (and I would like to bring Allison 100% of the time if the matchup allows it), but.. Once he declared Ophelia I felt like most of my keyword options didn't work (and I explain why with each one in the video), so ended up with these all fixing specific problems.
I would have chosen Lucius for this round as I'm a lot better with him, but I played him a lot last month in Neverborn and people encouraged me to do a change of pace. I really like Nellie so wanted to investigate what I can do with her in a variety of pools.
That said, I rarely take that many keyword models, as I tend to like masters with weaker keywords. So a list with very few keyword models is pretty standard for me. I take whatever models I think will work in a given situation, and with card draw masters like Nellie, Lucius, Molly, or Marcus it is very easy to play a wide variety of models.

A bit ironic that I didn't call Nexus overpowered until I successfully beat it, though 😂

Ah, so they can! By that point your having to use a master (albeit 1 of 3) AP to get them to do what another summon can do already though.
They have had results in recent games that have been posted, I assume some of these people are pretty strong players though and able to win with a variety of crews.
Radek is no.1 on the UK Rankings so seeing him win with solo nexus at the Scottish GT doesn't really seem as significant as it looks.
The new titles are obviously the most recent models so people probably playing these more also.
Yeah for sure. People play new titles for lots of reasons like
- They're new!
- They think they're overpowered (when they're not)
- They think they're overpowered (when they are)
Initially when Nexus 2 came out people immediately cried broken, but personally I was waiting til I saw enough games.
The first two times I faced it I got stomped, but was still reserving an opinion.
After following Radek's progression (and beating him xD) and also being part of Hydranixx's meta, I feel like I can confidently say that Nexus 2 is 'too strong' compared to original masters and even most titles.
However, she definitely has some counters (soft counter Pandora, hard counter Kirai). And also the things she is weak to are probably good against ES in general, so you're not losing *too* much by declaring them... But I'm not certain every faction can beat them.
Just my take of course xD

Eyes and Ears and Nests can't score points. E&E have also been nerfed. The whole Cadmus keyword got heavily nerfed because everyone complained about it and now people say's it's terrible, so good/bad.
Nexus 2 actions aren't as strong as other masters.
I agree being able to flood the board with AP and wounds is a struggle to deal with. Summons don't need to score points, they just need to stand in engagement while the rest of your 50ss deals with that.
Nests (and eyes) CAN score points - Nexus has a trigger to remove insignificant until the next turn.
The individual actions aren't as strong it is true, but if you look at the results they're doing extremely well. Though they do have some counters, so there's certainly a debate of how strong is too strong.

Although it is interesting bringing up summoners...
Almost all of the original summoners have been nerfed (Kirai, Sandeep, Von Schtook, Somer, etc) AND they errataed the rules so that summons are weaker at scoring points.
Having tons of strategy-relevant AP and wounds has a history of breaking the game.

Ok, can you name non-summoner or replace crews
Crews that hand out fast or healing.
But I think this is a bit of a tangent. The point isn't that Nexus 2 has wounds and AP. Everyone has those.
The point is they have so much that it is very difficult to deal with (to the point of being overpowered when combined with their other abilities).

Can you name non-summoners that can summon models and add AP and wounds like summoners?
I don't see how that's relevant, but some of the replace mechanic crews (Iike Nekima).

All of them. If wounds and AP is an issue with nexus 2 then it must be the same with summoners?
Adding 20 points of models over 2 turns for 2x11 cards feels easier than the AP that takes to remove.
Can you name a summoner that commonly puts as much AP and wounds on the table as Nexus 2 and the eyes and ears?
Of course there's tons of other factors (nexus 2 models are strategy-relevant, the parasites, etc).
But I'm curious if even on this one specific metric what else compares.

Can we also nerf all summoners due to the extra wounds and AP their crews get
Oh, which ones do you think are a problem?
Or is that a bad faith take? 😛

I ended up locking Nellie as I don't think I'll be able to practice anything for this week (although been practicing Basse for round 2 and hope to add Lady J to the roster).
My list:
- Nellie 1 with LLC
- Totem
- Pale Rider
- Melissa Kore
- Lone Marshal
- Guild Steward
- Guild Lawyer
- 5 stones
His list:
- Ophelia 2
- 3 totems
- 3 Lacroix Raiders
- Sammy
- Bo Beep
- Rami
- Merris
- 6 stones
So I've gone pretty elite and he has gone very cheap-model oriented with a bit of a horde strategy.

The second top table for the tournament had nexus... who lost 8-4 to Kirai 2.
A bit of a hard counter there, but take these losses how you will.
Personally I'd be surprised to see a Nexus player lose at that high a level against an original master without a title... but I'm sure there must be at least one that can handle it?
-
Is nexus even bad at one of the strategies? Cursed Objects both nexus can summon models without tokens.
And yeah I agree assassinate is not a bad scheme for them as I've never seen it two pointed.
Assassinate is rough for masters that have to be in your face, imo. So I'd say maxine 2 for example is worse at it.

There's some interesting stuff down below too. At first I just thought it was the Witness stuff, but I then I saw a horse. But upon closer inspection it looks like it could he a book or portal with stuff flowing out of it.
I zoomed in on those ones and saw a bunch of pages I think in another photo - so I assume they're Story related?

Interesting, will have a look at practicing some Dashel!
Last event I almost soloed Lucius in Neverborn, so I'm keeping him as my safe fallback in case I don't have time to practice something else xD
No double masters in this event

Is that confirmed?

That thing next to Gwyll (?) Looks super cool as well!
Big monster sculpts are awesome xD
The models coming out of the pages are possibly the best of the lot, though. Incredible!

Anyone speed painting witness to play at gen con?
If so, want pics 🤣

Last year all the cards in the book got posted.
Anyone know if Wyrd is allowing that this year?

If you're wanting to try Dashel, go Butcher rather than Summoner.
Butcher, Executioner, and a Mounted Guard/Pale Rider (to move the Executioner) should be your starting point.
Summons can be a liability on Cursed Objects, but Butcher can cover a huge amount of table when he needs to (Without any outside assistance, you're looking at 26" plus his 2" melee range. With a Sergeant that goes up to 30". And obviously there's Ride With Me potential on top of that).
It also helps that he's brutal when he gets up close too!
Butcher summons even weaker models was pointed out to me.

Yeah sounds neat!

How does Nexus 1 play post errata? Is it still an ok master, or is it a lot of tinkering without much pay out? If there is some light for ol'Nexus, are there any pools where its a better choice than Nexus2?
Most people are really down on Nexus 1 but I see her do well.
One issue is that Nexus 2 is sooooo strong, it is probably a good thing that Nexus 1 isn't as strong as 2 xD
I saw someone go Nexus 1 against Molly instead of Nexus 2 to avoid Lethes Caress.

Oh, dead rider!!!
If you want the feeling of a horde of zombies rising from the earth and attacking in a swarm, his four crow trigger is the main thing in the faction that can do that.

Well, I've finally signed up to an event as Guild! So I thought I'd make a thread.
This is Round 1...
What are people's thoughts? I look at that and go "hot damn Lucius smashes this."
Sly is also really good at this pool I think.
I've heard Dashel is bad at Cursed Objects cuz summons...
Nellie seems pretty good but the schemes aren't something I'm wild about, unsure of how to approach the pool.
Overall I'm keen on playing Nellie/Lucius/Dashel and maybe a bit of Perdita. Suggestions? Is Dashel that bad on this pool?

You can use siphon power on your own model, then it uses We Are Legion to pass on the damage so the enemy takes a ping. Then the model that took the siphon power damage tries to reduce it, but it is irreducible so it doesn't release.
So siphon power is a tool to ensure both sides take a point.
