  1. I've only played Sly once and he felt underwhelming. Though, to be fair, I definitely positioned him in a way that he was out of LOS from the rest of the Family and couldn't take advantage of Gun Runner.

He seems to me to want to hang around the fight without actually getting into it. Gun Runner means that everytime someone shoots (which you'll be doing a lot of) Sly gets to move 2". I imagine that activating him near the end of the turn puts him in an advantageous position to False Claim where he wants or to Interact without having to waste AP moving. Bravado is amazing, but it's limited in the fact that it only allows models to move towards enemies models. Gun Runner, Escape Plan, and Squeal gives you more control over where Sly goes outside of his activation.

Given his low stats and health, I don't think he wants to be anywhere without support. So moving him all by his lonesome to the enemy deployment zone might not be the right move.

And you're absolutely right about False Claim (at least, in my experience). Dropping scheme markers early on in the game gives you a reserve to pull from when you use your false claim. This play *should* make it easy to pull off Sabotage or Set the Trap. It does feel that hitting the Triggers for False Claim seem like a long shot, but remember that if you using Bravado around Perdita gives you amazing card cycling. This *should* give Sly a better chance to hit those False Claim Triggers. *Should*.

But like I said earlier, I've only fielded the guy once with lackluster results. All of this is probably just a bad interpretation of his card.

I haven't directly hired a Monster hunter into my crew. Every game I've played I've been able to Summon a Pistolero and Replace it with a Monster Hunter. Have you thought about swapping it out with a Guild Mage instead? Their Glory of the Guild Ability is bonkers with the Family. You're going to be discarding cards left and right with Bravado, meaning you get to keep Santiago and Frank alive that much longer to do what they do.

  2. From my understanding, the enemy model would only be affected by one of the Sorrow's Misery ability.

Pulled from the updated rule book:

"Auras are not cumulative. If a model would be
affected by multiple Auras of the same name (i.e., if
the Aura would change its game state in some way),
then it is only affected by one such Aura of its controller’s
    choice."

And with Armor, damage reduction is to a minimum of 1.

    Pulled from the rule book:

"Reduction may not decrease the total damage
amount below 1 unless otherwise stated (such as by
    using Soulstones)."

Taking 1 damage with Armor 1 will still net you 1 damage taken.

  3. It looks like the Sappers are just the best little scheme runners. With stealth, they can operate behind enemy lines with near impunity. And if they get caught? A guaranteed 5" push away from danger. It's not impossible to pin them down. Any fast beater (Dawn Serpent?) could easily make quick work of them once pinned down.

The Keywords "Heat of Battle" ability makes it so that you can move, interact to drop a scheme marker, pitch a card and move again! And if your scheme markers aren't exactly where you need them to be? Just use your robot dog friend to shoot it 2" across the board.

I can see bubble crews that rely on range being left feeling completely inadequate after facing off against Tull.

  4. I haven't seen too much in the way of theory crafting for the new Cav models.

Do we have a consensus on what pools to take the Cavaliers in? What master do you see them being a problem for?

Personally I'm not the best theory crafter and my knowledge of the other factions/crews is very limited.

    *edit*

Bigger hat has a spoiler page showing the released models from Madness of Malifaux.

  5. I actually had a question regarding Cursed Objects.

Since Exclusive Interview allows your model to treat the Enemy model as Friendly for the Interact, can you make the Interacting model pass its Cursed Token onto an Enemy model?

Ex: Force Sidir Alchibald to take an Interact to pass a Curse Token to a Ruffian within range of him.

  6. There are workarounds to the Assualt markers:

Take models that ignore pulse damage.

Park a 40mm/50mm model on the Assault marker which can suffer the damage while protecting your other models from damage.

Incorporeal and shielded will also reduce this damage.

Assault markers are annoying for the opposition, but not OP.

  7. Just trying to get a concensus:

Pandora's action, No Shelter Here, doesnt seem like it specifically gives the target a 3" Hazardous Aura. Rather, it creates the Aura around the target. But if that's not the case and it gives the target the Aura then Nino, with his Spotter ability, becomes a liability.

  8. The rules seem to flip flop between using "Hazardous" and "Hazardous Terrain".

They mention Markers (Pyre) as having the Hazardous Trait, which is reflected on Sonnia 2's card.

Sonnia does 1 has an action comparable to Pandora 2's that gives an Aura with "Hazardous Terrain" (compared to Pandora 2's "Hazardous").

My gut instinct is that they're one in the same and that this is an oversight on Wyrd's part. I did play the game as if "Hazardous Terrain" and "Hazardous" were different in order to not potentially cheat my opponent. I prefer to lose out rather than to unwittingly cheat my opponents.

  9. Last week I took my Perdita 2 Family crew up against Pandora 2 and her Woe crew. Pandora has an Attack Action (No Shelter Here) where she gives a model a 3" Hazardous Aura.

The Pistolero De Latigo has a Summon Upgrade card with the ability (Outriders) which allow Friendly Family models within a 6" Aura to be unaffected by Concealing and Hazardous Terrain.

    My question is this:

Does the ability to be unaffected by Hazardous Terrain include Pandora's Hazardous Aura?

I played the game with my models still being affected by the Aura as No Shelter Here didn't include the word "Terrain".

I’m tryin’ to feel festive. I tried roasting Gremlins over an open fire. I tried runnin’ over Abuela with a reindeer. I even tried dreamin’ of a blight Festivus. Nothin’ was workin’.

This is just adorable! I can see why y'all let this devious little scamp get away with all of his shenanigans.

  11. @Qracy 100 percent agree! I was fairly miffed when I found out the Guild Hounds weren't at least Guard and Frontier. I mean, thematically, I would make sense for Basse, the lawman of the frontier to have access to hounds. On top of that, it would make Crocket work better with the crew as you pointed out.

  12. If I recall, wasn't there a heated debate during open beta about Lady J needing either a 7 to her attack or Onslaught? "She's too powerful with both, she only needs one" kind of deal? And now we're stuck with a 6 to hit AND the Jim Belushi of tiggered attacks, "Quick Reflexes".

My fellow Guildies...we are being reasonable again. Being reasonable is what got us into this mess in the first place!

If Ten Thunders can have their Samurai WITH Trained Ninja I want Guild Hounds running around with Atomic Bombs strapped to them. We are the Guild! We have the resources!
