Thanks! Yeah I agree, I could definitely have pushed the contrast more I think. But that's how it goes with a time limit sometimes, overall I'm proud of this.

Iron Painter 2018 - Round One

I'll put out the request for a critique as well, I really would appreciate any feedback from anyone not already burned out from judging!

Iron Painter 2018 - Round One

Whew!!! I did not think I was going to finish in time. I didn't get my submission up to where I wanted it to be, but I am pretty pleased with my finished result considering the time I had to work on it. Looking through the gallery there are some really awesome submissions so far. Great work everybody! And now for a small breather...

Iron Painter 2018 - Round One

I lost power last night while I was working!! It was always going to be a close one but now I'm gonna be extra hard pressed to finish when I get home from work today. I hope I can pull it off!

Iron Painter 2018 - Round One

Finally getting started on my entry! Didn't get a chance to pick this guy up until yesterday. On top of that, I am going to the NOVA Open at the end of this week, and have been painting other entries for a contest there. This one is going to come down to the wire for sure, what a way to kick off this year's Iron Painter.

Are busts acceptable here or is it limited to miniatures? I think I remember some folks did busts last year but I just want to make sure while I'm trying to work out what I want to do.

    Monthly painting challenge - May

I am pledging two Performers (at 5 SS each) and two mannequins (at 4 SS each) this month for a total of 18 SS. My plan is to pair a mannequin to a performer in terms of color scheme. I still need to come up with what those schemes will be, but I like the idea of two Performer / mannequin "teams"

    Monthly painting challenge - April

Looks like I am going to have to use that first mulligan after all. I didn't end up painting much this weekend, and I won't have any time this evening. At least I will be completely fresh for next month!

    Monthly painting challenge - April

@Franchute thanks for checking in! Unfortunately, I've been hit with a bit of a hobby slump this month. I just haven't been much interested in anything I've tried to paint, and generally feeling unmotivated. But here are some models that I have worked on to some degree or another in the past, hopefully I can finish off at least 15 SS worth!! I'd hate to use a mulligan! Here's to hoping a relatively uninspired month (for me) will leave me recharged for May. That said, I have really enjoyed everybody's posts for this month! I have looked at most of them, at least in passing, and as usual all of you guys put forth some really great stuff!! I am sorry for not being quite so engaged this time around.

    Monthly Painting Challenge - March

I think the OSL looks great! My only suggestion would be to make the coffin darker. The light source is very well done, but does not appear much brighter than what it is shining on. I think it would pop more against a darker coffin.
