  1. I’ve only had one game so far, but my biggest problem was that I wasn’t handing out staggered - I was going more for hand drain and execute, which is cool, but more of an incidental gimmick to me ( and would probably be an NPE if it was easy ).

Staggered I find to be huge for Lucius2 himself. For handing out dam7 backhand slaps - along with Alan and Investigators Min3. Hidden passage is decent for this, but if there is no Blocking terrain around your target, then it’s not really working.

I thought Alan to be a good source, but Boring Conversation (+ betrayal) is just too important to a crew, that can’t otherwise defend itself.

Other sources would be Emissary, Klaus, Investigators and Cavatica.

Emissary terrain markers, although cool, makes it difficult for your own models. And Cavatica doesn’t synergise much with Reid/Investigators - that’s my thoughts anyway.

  2. I was looking towards trying something out based on Investigators and False Witnesses - for mobility and card draw.

Then use Alan Reid (Boring Conversation) with Klaus Norwood to ensure handing out Staggered. To support Lucius and ensure Alan/Investigators min3 damage.

And throwing in a lawyer for versatility.

Even the False Witness becomes a pseudo-Min3 beater, when it’s near Lucius’ scheme marker.

  3. Ended in a bit of rules discussion during my last game.

    The Situation

Dishonorable uses Down the wrong path sending an opposing model in to be engaged by Alan Reid and Agent 46.

I read it as both Alan Reid and Agent 46 would be able to attack. My opponent otherwise.

Funnily enough Join Us reads similiar.

Yet there were no issues with Urami moving through multiple models and provoking multiple tests.

So what would be the correct way to treat these situations?

If you realy want to consider Lucius an Option I would think towards boring  conversation. Its awesome and you nie do get 2 possible hosts: alan Reid and Dorian crowe. To me it seems way more appealing than adze.
and with lawyer and changeling you can move Candy in the board easily.

I like the suggestions - looking forward to trying new ‘dora and Dorian out, when the models get released.

I do look at Adze as more versatile than Dorian though. Lure with Quick Reflexes is both utility and offensive positioning. While the Adze can deal some damage as well - and with Reid, there’s already one ‘Boring Conversarion”.

I also considered switching the Doppleganger ganger for a lawyer, but the Lure on the Doppleganger has less requirements than Obey, and she is Mov6. The other part, I’m aiming for is speed in this crew, and being able to switch gears.

Draw essence does require a TN12 df duel. Do you not count that as draining?

You know, I must have completely ignored that 😄

Goes to show it has been quite some time since I’ve played neverborn - mostly arcanists and thunders.

Those are pulses,  but neat idea.

There is some merit in doing this with original pandora as that is the theme of her crew. Hand drain and execute.

But dreamer gets yume and Chompy which is a factor.

Either way, have you considered Carver?

I did consider Panda at first - she’s my #1 master, and the whole thing started out pondering her Tyrant Torn version - this is what I thought to try out :

    Panda Box Opener + Totem

    Candy

    Adze

    Hinamatsu

    Teddy / Carver

    Baby Kade

    8 Stones.

Which does seem like a fun time as well - I love Kade/Teddy, and Panda’s Fears Given Form and Box Opens fits great with this. But Dreamer’s summons and the ability to place Chompy was the deal breaker, while Carver loses out on his pulse not actually draining cards. The Dreamer would also be less vulnerable to Ruthless.

  7. So I was playing around with the app, when a strategy hit me.

Stocking up on auras:new-Pulse: to drain opponents hand and make the opponent vulnerable to Executes.

So I chose Dreamer as a base - because of Chompy’s Execute and summoning Madness is always great.

    Then added :

Coppelius - 3” :new-Pulse: WP 13 to pass out Slow

    Wrath - 3” :new-Pulse: WP 13 for a 2/3/4 damage

    Candy - 4” :new-Pulse: WP14 to pass out Slow

Adze - 3” :new-Pulse:DF 13 To pass out Burning // Quicksand Trigger 2” :new-Pulse: MV 15 to pass out Slow

and Doppleganger for Mimic’ing auras and/or Execute attacks.

    +9 Stones

Incidentally 3 models have Lure/Bring it! To control positioning and models generally have a speed faster than 5.

Possibly substituting Wrath for Hinamatsu would be preferable.

    -

A possible turn one could easily have Candy in the midst of the opposing crew for the start of turn 2, e.g. Adze could fly up 7”, Lure Wrath and Candy. Then Wrath could walk and Bring it! Followed by Coppelius giving a Frightening Reminder putting Candy 16” up the board before activation.

    -

With the amount of Stunned // Slow // Distracted handed out opponents would hopefully be hard pressed to accomplish anything. And would quickly be drained of cards to allow Chompy to do his thing.

Anyone ever run a list like this.

Also, while it doesn't happen all the time, having a lower Df does give you more likely you can spike higher, especially with a Focus, but sometimes without.

Two similarly low card flips, and the lower Df means they have to cheat first. Unless they cheat in a low Moderate (high if the attack was Focused), there's a risk that you'll be able to push through the 11+ (6+) differential needed to get it to a straight flip. It's expensive, but if your damage curve is significant, it can at worst force more card use on their part.

I mean, this is true for most combats, but the lower Df makes it more likely to happen over time.

Counting on your opponent to flip weaks is a pretty poor tactic. And winning by 11+ is something that happens one in five games. Even if you flip a red joker, your opponent just needs to flip a 6 in Df 4 vs Stat 6 situation.

A good counter is something you can plan for and execute.

  9. Start with Henchman Hardcore.

It's quick games, shared objectives and both players have the same number of models.

It eliminates a ton of variables and allows players to just focus on getting the rules right and how to apply them.

Asking a new player to build a crew to achieve 1 strat and choose 2 schemes, while trying to counter their opponent and predicting what they will bring is just too much, let alone just remembering what his crew and the opposing one does.

Another thing is to play "open kimono", explain what and why you're doing certain things. Explain how your team plays, rather than just offer up their abilities – e.g. this cute teddy bear tears you're head off within 2", while this guy will just teleport around the board and place scheme markers to score my points, but if you hit him he'll explode in an instant.

And then your opponent needs to accept that he is probably going to lose a lot.

While not totally equivalent, Teddy has a 2" engagement and Feed on Fear for the same cost and Chompy has it at cost "8", so there is some precedent.

Chompy and Teddy supported by a couple of Madnesses for healing is such a tough fight. - Nightmare doesn’t need serena.

  11. Despair’s Influence is much better spend on Baby Kade.

Dump a low :crowfor a Lure with Slow for an extra push/ping, followed up with two Stat7 Executes or just a :mask for two coordinated Teddy attacks.

With Carver I usually prefer a focused Breath of Fire and cheating a severe for 4:blast:blast. He’s more of crowd control model.

Student of Sinew is pretty amazing at it. Flay and puncture on a single model. Also has command corpse, situationally useful but good into Resser mirror.

Sadly the student of Sinew doesn't moonlight with other factions ;)

Sorry, I should probably have been more specific that I come from outside Ressurs. I play Neverborn, Arcanists and currently focusing on Ten Thunders.

  13. I like facing off vs the Ressurs. It’s some of the coolest themes around. Sadly I haven’t gotten round to fielding my own, but they do look nice on the shelf.

    But…

I do have issues with the daunting task of pounding dead flesh with Hard to Wound, so how do people get around this and what’s the ressur weakness?
