From what they said I think they are all versatile models, and will have 1 henchmen. That doesn't mean they won't also have keywords I assume. I also thought it was 4 models.

I think you’re right! No Gator on the artwork

  2. Skimmed the forums, but couldn’t find any mention of the new Starter packs - Specifically the Bayou one! Seems like we will get the Bayou Bash models. I love the models, and cannot wait to see them in action 😀

What do you guys think? Some of the models seem to fit some of the current keywords. A rooster for Tricksy, a Waldgeist for Swampfiend, Rabbit with a lot of booze for tri-chi, Hog for Pig & Sooey.

Just started looking at Ulix myself. The front of his card has "Sturdy Critters", which allows you to pitch a card to give a 1/2/2 heal (depending on the value of the card you pitch). Soooo, why ever pitch a Severe?

Wyrd just felt that a 1/2/3 heal was slightly too good, so no point chucking a Severe, unless you really have to?

Quick comment - It isn't a Heal, but rather a Damage Reduction. Very important difference in Malifaux.

And no, you'd never really toss out a Severe unless you're in a pinch.

  4. Hey guys

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I could find an answer for this wyrd (heh..) situation last week.

A Bayou Gremlin shoots an Oxfordian Mage within 6 inches of the model.

    1. The Bayou Gremlin have to declare triggers.
    2. The Oxfordian Mage says models within 6 have to discard a card to declare triggers.

Does this mean the Bayou Gremlin player HAS to discard a card? Or can the player simply ignore the trigger, if they don't wish to discard a card?

    Gremlins:

Wong - So close to being good.  Just need to tweak and playtest.  Crew-wide fast is scary, there's a right balance there.

Ulix - Not actually a bad crew, but why is Grow Up Strong so bad?  You need an 8 to upgrade a model two soulstones.  A 12 to grow it 4.  It does have an obey, but that costs a tome or soulstone (for a 2 soulstone upgrade and a master action...).   And he's honestly psychotically card hungry.  I know I complained about summoners getting card draw, but he has 2 actions on the front of his card that take cards, and no good draw way.  Add :ToS-Tome: to Slop 'em Up

I'm just gonna add my vote on both of these . +1 from me.

Wizz-bang seems to be in such a wierd place. I feel like the crew could become broken with just a few changes, but they feel out of place right now.

Ulix is insanely card hungry, and it feels horrible to have BBB / Bokor glued on the crew.  I'd love to se an alternative. Maybe something that makes Penelope more involved - Draw a card if you Replace a Pig near her.

    Yes. Very much so.

Oh and So'mer is broken too, but that's a different saga.  And Von Schtook.  Actually, of the 8 full summoners in Malifaux, 4 are busted, 1 is very strong, and 1 got whacked to death by a nerf bat in GG0 (Tara RIP)

Do we actually have any statistics on this, other than random quotes from random people? I've had several games against Von Schtook, and he seems insane to me. But I've never actually seen him win any tournaments or anything. (feel free to correct me on this)

Maybe "Broken" means something differently to me. For me, a broken keyworld would be rocking every single tournament, every single time. I'm not seeing that many summoners holding that spot.

I listened to the new 3FW episode today, which was a tournament report recorded several  months ago it seems. Late last year, GG0. Near the end they got into a discussion during which they stated pretty empathically that no tournament game would normally go beyond 3 turns baring a tabling. They were unequivocal  on this stance and stated that anyone who thought a tournament game would go longer had their head in the sand. Is that everyone else's experience? It sure isn't mine.

I'm a huge fan of the podcast, along with many of the others out there. They bring a massive amount of content to the game, and their contribution to the community is beyond appreciated by me and my local playgroup. That being said, I always try to take their comments with a grain of salt - They bring very passionate, vocal players who have an opinion that may not always be shared across metas.

A good example of this is their comments regarding triggers, blasts and so forth. Everything is OP, since they always seem to have the correct triggers, or their opponent always stacks 4-5 models on top of each other. I rarely experience this. Similarly, no tournament ever sees round 5. Nope. None. Never.

I've personally been able to finish several games within the timelimit - But I have also put emphasis on that being the key goal of my practice-matches up to a tournament. Timelimit is an essential part of the game, and I'm happy they put emphasis on it - But I'd hardly consider this game ruined due to the current state.

    Check the votes/agree reacts.

Most people agree with Santa (it says the chosen model must be killed by a model an enemy controls, so insignicant models don't count).

I did - Still not sure.

Most people seem to believe, as I do, that they don't count. But I'd hate to make my main argument "4 out of 7 people agree with this". Was hopin' we'd come to any agreement on this one :)

Cute trick of the week: Corrupted Leylines, put the lodestone on a Good Ol Boy or something that can get up the board relatively easy and not just die, then have Somer blow it up on turn 2 with Make Me Proud to pop the Lodestone to the next Marker.

Seems a bit expensive to me, and slightly awkward a trick to pull off, if you ask me. But I can see it working at times.

I've found that Big Hat has decent potential in the strategy, due to the amount of volume of actions that the crew can pull off. And you can always toss the Lucky Emissary into the crew, and just roll your way to the markers.

Anna can do it 5 times each game, doesn't do damage directly and the models that she use actually die. Som'er could abuse of Test Subjects (actually the same test subject 3 times in a single turn to make 6 unavoidable damage.

From a Master though? Not sure if it was that much. Plus, I'd struggle to see a situation where I'd skip summoning and do it 3 times. It could happen, but very rare.

    No fun for Wizz-Bang...

I still have to go through all the details of the strategies and playtest a bit, but I hope my favourite "Michael Bay sponsored crew" can do well in some of them.

I can see Wong, and his Launch into space-abillity being useful in the schemes for this GG. Breakthrough, Sabotage, Research Mission, Spread them out and Runic Binding all seem decent with that abillity.

I don't have Gracie but I have piglets. Base - Ratskin flesh (Citadel) и Light flesh (Vallejo Model color) 50/50. Then I gradually added more and more Light flesh and some white in the end. Then I use Reikland fleshshade whith Lahmian medium in the ratio of 2:3. Then I painted a coat (I use light paint in light places and pure ratskin flesh in dark places). After that I use Druchii violet +  Reikland fleshshade + части Lahmian medium) in the ratio of 1:2:4. Well, I finished drawing some details - and the work is finished.

I highly doubt the Bayou will cross over with Explorer’s Society. Read Ulix’s story to find out why.

There might be some bad-feelings, but I doubt it completely excludes the idea. Did anyone even survive long enough to warn anyone? If not.. Well, bad things happen (In the Bayou ;) )

Okay, so maybe this isn't original, but the idea is from the Hamlin thread.  And it made me think of the single most annoying Reckoning Crew I could possibly imagine:

    • Som'er Teeth Jones,
    • 2x Skeeter
    • George and Olaf
    • Pigapault
    • Taxidermist w/Inferiority Complex
    • 8x Bayou Gremlins

There's exactly three significant models here, but there's almost unlimited ability to dump out stat 5 shots.  On top of that, the Pigapault can relocate the Taxidermist to the backlines to make more explosive pigs and scheme - or can just toss explosive pigs (because boy there's going to be enough Corpse markers lying around, times a dozen).  Som'er can just reload you on bayou gremlins for even more shots, and George and Olaf can give the entire team Focused.

You have some ability to scheme with summons once the general mass of shooting dies down, and I really don't think your opponent will pack the shockwaves and blasts they need if they don't see this coming.

I have no idea if this would score any points at all, but you'd certainly make someone unhappy.  "Is that significant?"  "No."  "That?"  "No."  "Okay, that giant mosquito?"  "No."  "That catapault?"  "No."  "What the fuck."

Good lord, I have to try this! Makes me miss the old version of Drunk and Stupid, where the summoned model also gained Insignificant 😁
