Are you sure the survivability was your main issue there? You have scored 8 points but nonetheless lose the game, which means that you was not able to prevent your opponent from scoring. As for your "what to buy next" question: Shadow Effigy would be a nice addition - 4ss model with armor and hard to kill, and with action which makes Misaki less vulnerable.

If Malifaux has to be your secondary hobby, Ressurectionists are probably not the best faction to choose, because picking up master with many summoning options (Nicodem, Molly, Kirai) will result in buying tons of models you will never field but summon in the course of the game. Well, in fact even playing masters with limited options it may happen that you buy and buy ad infinitum (e.g. you play Seamus, who synergises well with Datsue Ba, so you buy her, but she summons Gaki, so you buy them, and rarely she summons Onryo, so you buy Kirai's box, and then you have another master who summons spirits, so you start to buy them).

Misaki is great if you score points via killing enemy models (quick murder, eliminate the leadership). Shenlong is great in everything. I do not play TT, but my brother does, so I have played a dozen of games against Shenlong and I rate him as one of the most universal and fun to play (as it seems) masters in the game. So don't waste too much time with the Mistress! As for Izamu, he really excels under Shenlong's command and with Sensei's Yu support. Push him, give him fast and wreck havoc. Same with Lone Swordsman. TT Brothers are reliable scheme runners and Katanaka Sniper poses a psychological threat on your opponent. Seems you have everything to have some fun with Shenlong!

oh man, this is simply stunning. but what I like the most is that one of you is a former Legend of the Five Rings player, as I can infer from Crane clan mon on the top of the hat of one model (is that Kang?) shifting from the best card game to the best miniature game - seems legit!
