Hopkins has a major flaw. He has only 1 thing he is good at. Mobility.
Here is my breakdown:
9 ss Samael
SS user - ok
Survivability - average
Damage - average, turns to meh with cover/concealment.
Support - nonexistent
Mobility - good
Synergies with crew - only with his mediocre attack.
Is this a package you want for 9 whole SS?
Dr. Grimwell is better for 9 SS and he is still not even a competitive choice. For 2 ss more you get Pale Rider with twice the efficiency.
At the very least Samael needs a decent tactical action just not to be a dead weight most of the time.
And to make him decent on top of the previous he needs something like Sonnias Seeking Flames and either one more trigger on a revolver or + 1 damage to the Wooden Mallet.

Great event, I am looking forward to the next one 😃

Its about 70% scavengers and 30% melee stat.
-
Nerf? He got buffed 😅
-
The crews did pretty much what I wanted them to do. I think the only game I was not happy with the list was actually the fifth one where I took everything 😂. Though that mainly the problem of guild having no good lists in Levi and not the problem of the models I took.
-
Yep. Basically that's it. And both those cards are yours in the conflict so you can place them in discard in any order.Â

Hey! Here is my quick report on this tournament:
https://www.bag-o-tools.com/live/#/live/1759
As always cheers to @Scoffer for an amazing event and @Daniel Walker for being a horrible judge allowing DMH.
It was a 6 round event where I decided to take up a "Golden Scorpius" challenge. No model can be taken more times than its rarity for the whole event.
Round 1:
Deployment - Flank
Strategy - Break the LineSchemes:
Bait and Switch
Detonate Charges
Vendetta
Hidden Martyrs
Death BedsFirst round I was unlucky getting an opponent who never showed up on the first day, so it was an auto win 5-2. Nevertheless I submitted the Lucius list for the sake of the challenge. It was decently tailored for the strategy and scheme pool. The plan was to spread wide with changelings and provide some support fire with Doppel and Pathfinder with some trap help blocking pathways. Agent was supposed to be where I need him most. Basically list can change gears very quickly and score something even with some deaths in my crew.

Deployment - Wedge
Strategy - Recover EvidenceSchemes:
Take Prisoner
Claim Jump
Let Them Bleed
Leave Your Mark
Research MissionI was paired with Assdex. He chose the competitive Shenlong list with Sensei, low river monk with stealth, Ototo, Fuhatsu and Minako Rei.
I went with Nellie:

Hires:
Undercover Reporter

Phiona Gage

The Lone Marshal
Lead-Lined CoatFirst two rounds I was spreading behind lossblocks and doing some minor damage with Lone Marshal. Fuhatsu went on the middle turn one and tried to shot my lawyer off the table. He was lucky to survive on 1 wound (not without help of my agrguing over millimiters of neccesary move distance, sorry Assdex). Turn 2 he was able to obey Fuhatsu to shoot off the table his own LowRiver with lucky blast on Sensei Yu. Undercover Reporter was sacrificed to the noble purpose of wasting Fuhatsu activation and bringing his Katashiro back in deployment. Then it was just the game of delivering as much annoyance to the opponent as possible and focus firing on one model at a time. Ultimately I managed to pick up symbols from Fuhatsu, Sensei and Low river and score both opening points of Leave Your Mark and Research Mission on turn 5. He scored 3 symbols (Dade, Phiona, Undercover) and first leave your mark point. I was able to deny Sensei scoring his claim jump. Dont mind me on Nellie was clutch.
Round 3
Deployment - Standard
Strategy - Corrupted LeylinesSchemes:
Breakthrough
Assassinate
Catch and Release
Outflank
Spread Them OutMap was rich with some forests so I decided to go with the Basse considering his acccess to the Sand Worm. Too bad I completely forgot to switch off my faction filter during the hiring phase and completely forgot to pick him! Nevertheless it was a game against our top bayou player Scoffer (finished second). He chose Zipp with twelve cups, First Mate, Iron Skeeter, Gatreux Bokor, bayou gremlin and Francois. My crew:

Clockwork Trap
Skybound AllyI was able to shoot his totem with lucky moderate on negative flip and bokor with focused shot with the austringers bird turn 1 so it was a nice start for me. Francois kiled my frontiersmen before he could go too, so it was kinda a fair exchange 😅. The game was pretty bloody. I managed to score both points for assasinate (last one was pretty tricky needing a reposition on a bonus, walk and focus shot with Caught in Quicksand by Basse himself. Bring It from Reichart was a great tool to deny a strategy point and Basse himself managed to deny the second point with his claim the bounty. Was short 1 activation for scoring a second BT point sadly. Austringer managed to chain summon 3 birds after his death. They were decent AP sink.
Round 4:
Deployment - Wedge
Strategy - Symbols of AuthoritySchemes:
Detonate Charges
Assassinate
Hidden Martyrs
Spread Them Out
Bait and SwitchWorst possible scheme pool and pairing - super competitive Plaag's Leveticus list and my LJ as probably the best thing I could've picked. Lone Marshal was not available and Pale Rider I was saving for a later rounds. His list was Levi with servant, Mad Dog with wanted criminal, 2 scavengers, 2 necropunks and Big Jake with Soldier for hire. My list:
Тиран 4 (Guild)
Size: 50 - Pool: 7
Leader:
Lady Justice
Totem(s):
Scales of Justice
Hires:
The Jury
The Judge
Death Marshal
Death Marshal 2
Death Marshal Recruiter
Domador De CadaveresHe surprisingly gave me the deployment behind the big triangle shaped fence blocking all LOS to the centreline. I think this was the major mistake considering I could just hide behind it without fear of him coming to me turn 1. So I did and majority of my models where behind building or really far apart. With the help of domador obey on DM I managed to bring him just behind the centreline very close to left table edge. He was supposed to be my bait piece and it worked really well. Both Jake, Mad Dog and Leveticus went this way which allowed my LJ leap out of safety to the centre and walk charge the Necropunk on the right edge of the table killing him in 2 swings with the help of stoning for rams and red joker in hand. The best thing was that both his wives where protecting the furthest right symbol and it was completely possible to try and kill them late turn 2 or turn 3. Second turn was him using Levi as a symbol pickup model as he had nobody close for the job. Mad dog triple walked to the right hoping to grab some symbols there next turn and I got a kill on Scavenger with LJ (and a symbol) and ganged up on Levi with some shots from DMR, and some melee from scales and Judge leaving him on 1 wound and scoring me first assasinate point. Jury went to the right symbol to protect it with her 40 mm base and 1' engagement from possible mad dog. Turn 3 I won initiative and went all out on 2 wives but managed to kill only one of them (he had amazing starting hand and I only had a 11 to his double 13). So Leveticus killed himself and blew my lady into space within activation (BJ from my part did not help at all). Afterwards it was a scheme game for me as I had no chances at all pickind 3 symbols. So I tried my best to deny the symbols pickup with Jake by my Totem (failed). So it was 3-4 for him. We both scored 1 point for HM 1 point for assasinate. I htink I had a great chances on winning that one if first activations turn 3 went my way or at least a draw was completely possible. Oh well, was a great game anyway.
And btw wives just ending injured on themselves and stacking up the highest flipped card for the scavengers to pick up is the dirtiest thing ever.
Round 5:
Deployment - Standard
Strategy - Public Enemies
Schemes:
Breakthrough
Vendetta
Sabotage
Catch and Release
Let Them BleedWas paired with Ming and I predicted he would also pick a Leveticus list as it was probably a best bet in this scenario. I decided to go all out and pick my best leftovers to just win with value and failed. His list was Levi + servant, scavenger, Rusty Alice, Marlena, 2 necropunks and Ashes and Dust. My list:
Тиран 5 (Guild)
Size: 50 - Pool: 5
Leader:
Dashel Barker
Totem(s):
The Dispatcher
Hires:
Sonnia Criid
Lead-Lined Coat
Guild Lawyer
Guild Steward
Pale Rider
Purifying FlameI went all out with buffing up Sonnia with focuses and summoned a mounted guard for an additional taxi service. She failed all her attacks turn 1 and Levi managed to kill mounted guard with patrol right after its activation. Turn 2 she managed to demise Ashes and dust (it was neccesary to protect my backline). Leveticus managed to almost kill Sonnia shooting in concealment dealing 8 damage with 2 attacks. Basically almost all I managed to do in this game is barely kill some stuff with Sonnia barely managing to keep my important models alive near my deployment zone. As always due to Mings slow play style we barely managed to start turn 5. Ultimately I scored 1 strategy, end point of let them bleed and first point of BT. He scored 3 strategy and 1 BT (its almost impossible to catch necropunks leaping behind buildings with guild). Pretty frustrating game. I think guild actually has almost nothing we can do against properly played Leveticus even without a top tier play. Always an extremely hard games.
Round 6:
Deployment - Corners
Strategy - Turf WarSchemes:
Outflank
Vendetta
Claim Jump
Death Beds
Research MissionLast game I was paired against Bajio - our local and a bit rusty TT player. He showed me an Asami+Misaki list with Ama No Zako, Fuhatsu, Low River monk and Kamaitachi.
My list was the dirtiest shit with Ryle (DMH was allowed for some reason). And it was absolutely disgusting 8-0 with executed Misaki and Ama No Zako late turn 2. Basically he went all out trying to kill my Ryle and failed wasting all his resources. Afterwards it was basically set with all my models on full health and in position and he barely outside his deployment zone with his left models.

Should probably be only during actions in proper hazardous terrain i.e. With a damage to reduceÂ
-
Guild mage will be a new crutch for a whole lot of crews.

I had won a fare share of tournaments. Though I never had a "That was easy!" after game thoughts as guild. But I did have those playing Zoraida or Misaki 😅
We have very little "free" value in faction.Â

Nellie. Basse has very distinct weakness against some crews. Tara, Jack, Dreamer are all very hard to play against for example.
-
I played a grand total of Zero Perdita games in vassal tournaments.
-
In my experience ~80% of my games are reactive ones. You need a shining opportunity generously presented by your opponent to play a decent proactive game. And i play everything except Perdita.
-
I think the main point in my thoughts are missed in this discussion. I dont think those schemes are bad just because they are undoable. They are possible ofc. The thing is comparing to the others those are:
1) Obvious for your opponent if you tune your crew for them
2) Therefore are easy to deny
3) Require considerable investment both in dedicated models and AP.
In my opinion it is hardly worth it considering those points.
Lets take the "tame" outlflank as the example of the most doable of those. Can you safely dedicate two models almost entirely for scheming at the opposite table corners?
This scheme is very hard to score if one of those models is delt with. I cant say I found a sure way to score this without completely outpowering/outmaneuvering the opposite crew. The other possibility is you safely score this one and will struggle with your self handicap in other points of interest. Using this scheme takes considerable luck and skill against competent opponent.
So, are those schemes possible/doable? Yes. Are they reliable? By no means.Â

Some of my thoughts. Lets discuss.
Â
-
I cant add any upgrades on models while creating a crew. Got a blank page aftrer pressing 👆 arrow.
-
Or it will be a walk 4 bulky model with a questionable attack and obscure bonus action. Who knows?
- 2
-
He eats suits only in opposed duels. Tactical actions are fine.
-
Thats a lot of help for a rare 1 model

Actually I really like the trend of guild being able to beat guild. Bright future ahead!

Yep, thats pretty much on point. It is super hard to predict the existence of minions on the other side. He is still fine when he starts on the board, but not superb.Â
It is very common to see the list with no minions or only one minion. He is now a tech piece for me.

But if someone is playing Guild the question is still, "How do I run Guild Hoffman" and not "Should I switch factions to run this master more effectively?"
Then you already know the answer. Phiona, lawyer, LLC. 😄

The guild has Phiona, Llc and lawyers. Arcanists have all 3 usable excellent upgrades, and more then 10 possible good ook picks. Ss miners, swarms, emissary, duet, rider... Even Miranda can be considered. Fast Scorpius is no joke. And guild models actually are better in blue. Peacekeeper with cache is nuts. Therefore blue Hoff is a lot more versatile in playstyle. That's it.Â

Better ask the actual participants. Seems like 8-0 for Nexus. Called it on turn 3 I think.
