  1. A method to summon Wild Boars was something I was hoping for with his Wave 5 upgrades (not to say the upgrades he got aren't good). Not sure how to balance it, maybe some wounds? Maybe combining two piglets to make a Boar (a la Rats->Rat Catchers)? Maybe a corpse marker (like they're attracted by the meat)?

Could someone direct me to any reference about the condition summoned models get? I believe it's called "Unplanned". I found a few mentions of it but I can't find it in any official Wyrd document. This is likely me looking directly at it and not seeing it. Any help is muchly appreciated.

I think the "Unplanned" condition was in the GG18 beta test for a while. I don't think its in their anymore, the one strategy that cares about summoned models just says it doesn't count models that were summoned. The main rulebook will tell you that summoned models gain "Slow" and may not interact the turn they are summoned. Don't have a page number in front of me though.

  3. New releases don't go up in Wyrd's store until a few weeks after their release. I've heard that is to allow local game stores first crack at your money. The March releases should be available through most distributors, so your LGS can get one in, or you can find it through an online retailer (other than Wyrd).

  4. I'll second a vote for Sammy Lacroix. Super useful. If you'll be playing with cards instead of using the app, consider getting the Generalist Upgrade Pack 1. It'll give you all the faction wide upgrades that appeared in the first few books. As an alternate, you can go to http://www.drivethrurpg.com/ and purchase PDF versions of the books. Not sure how much international shipping runs, but buying the PDF books gives you access to the upgrades and also means you don't pay shipping for the actual books. Then you can just screenshot and print the upgrades from the PDF, or hand write them on a bit of paper. The Wave 5 Master Upgrade pack is also a good purchase, but you can get those upgrades in the Broken Promises PDF if you go that route.

Ophelia is great fun. She runs a lot better with her wave 5 upgrades too. I haven't played Som'er or Mah Tucket yet so I can't speak to those boxes. Zipp is another fun Gremlin master and he comes with a lot of useful toys in his box.

Awesome, looking forward to this box! Could this be the much awaited solution to Brewmaster's problem?

It certainly can't hurt! Wander how they might differ from Akaname?

Do I remember correctly that the newsletter had these in the upcoming releases? Were they templated for release in April?

That's the 3rd upcoming encounter box full of unique models I've seen.... what is going on?

Wait....I've only seen the Undying and Backdraft. What's the third?

Also, does anyone else think Popcorn Turner sounds like a job title for a carnival worker?

Edit: Popcorn Turner might be a reference to Popcorn Sutton according to a guess on the Arcanist forum. Brewmaster getting some non-Tri Chi toys?

Well from the artwork Minako appears to be running with scissors, so I guess she just doesn't give a damn about health and safety...

Maybe Manos actually stands for Malifaux National Organization for Safety? Maybe he's just out there trying to stop this vicious ninja who runs with scissors and lets a fire wheel potentially torch some innocent origami people?

This is the gremlin forum, but One For The Road to get Brewmaster and Sensei Yu pushed up a bit, plus drop Poison +4 on a model is a trick I like to use when bringing him in 10T, usually on a fermented river monk. Now that Tanuki are out you can use it on anyone really I guess for the reactivate.

That's nice to hear! There's a local slow grow league starting in the midst of my solo Brewie period, and I'm planning to run him in 10T so these tricks are good to hear for both sides.

I've gotten a lot of mileage out of the Akaname. They're fairly good at putting poison on things at range but what really catches people off guard is there potential to get up to Ml 6 or 7 if they're attacking something with poison.

  9. Brewmaster's (0) One for the Road can get some poison on the Golem early. I've also deployed my models so that if Wesley drops a scheme marker at the start of his first activation there are at least two models in base contact with that marker. The Tanuki have a front of card ability that puts poison on things that activate in base contact with scheme markers. It's real gimmicky but it's one way I've found to get 3-4 poison (between One for the Road and the Tanuki) on the Golem turn 1.

I will add in a caveat that the Artillery Team is on a 120, but each "model" (i.e. 2 loaders and the 1 gun) are on 50mm.

The gun hangs over like crazy, though. Because it doesn't hang over the 120mm.

Thanks! That's an important distinction. Sounds like it could reasonably be mod'd up to be a pigapult. I'm thinking a stuffed piglet or gremlin being launched out of the barrel with smoke/fireball coming out of the blast attenuator at the end of the barrel.

This is all I see, too.

Edit: Solved it, I told Ghostery to trust this website, then I could see it. So if you use Ghostery, do that, otherwise check any other addblockers you may be using.

Thanks for the tip, I use Ghostery as well, but it didn't work for me. Tried all my other addblockers as well and no-dice. I'll just have to wait for the real thing to see what they look like *le sigh*.

  12. Love this box.

Anybody watch the MST3K roast of "Manos Hands of Fate"?

All I can think of when I see Manos is "I'm not touching you.... I'm NOT TOUCHING yoooouuuu.... Is this pissing you off!?"

Wasn't the actor who played Torgo permanently crippled because he improperly wore the satyr costume?

  13. I want to echo the sentiment that Swine-Cursed are NOT busted at all. HtK and HtW are dramatically different defensive abilities than a zero, with a TN, that confers a heal. I think they're great models but they require some discretion in use or they'll definitely get wiped off the board.

To return to the ACTUAL topic, has anybody tried Brin with Ophelia lately? He's Kin (why?) but I'm not sure I see any special synergy other than maybe the ability to use those Trash markers to move him around and maybe heal a little.
